This is the old pond which was once the grandeur of the Mandi Thalora Samba and was the life line of that particular place which is now in a very bad condition due to negligence of the authorities. The phenomenon of dying fishes is a repercussion of this thing. It clearly shows that due to dirty water, the fishes are not able to take oxygen and are dying, Rahul Sambyal Chairman Youth For Society stated this. "In older days, people took full care of the water of the ponds as they used it for every purpose even for drink- ing but nowadays people are not giving due care due to modern amenities and this is the reason that the water of this pond has become dirty and fishes are dying due to this" emphasised Rahul Sambyal Chairman Youth For Society. He appealed to the authorities to take care of this pond as these types of ponds decrease water crisis. Fishes dying in ancient Mandi Thalora pond STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: During conduct of two week long Swachh Bharat Pakhwara from 1st to 15th July 2017, employ- ees of Salal Power Station led by Seraphina Lakra, Senior Manager (HR) on Tuesday conducted Kar Sewa and Swachhta March in Power Station Colony from Ram Leela Ground to Mandir Chowk, Jyotipuram. On the way, employees cleaned the road and removed stacks of dirt lying at road side. CISF personnel also joined NHPC employees during the cleanliness drive. Speaking on the occasion, Seraphina said that the sacred Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister can succeed only when such drives are taken up in routine and every citi- zen of the country partici- pates in Swachhta drives. Bhandari con- vened a meeting to review the pace of major develop- ment projects and progress on implementation of welfare schemes in a meeting held. District Development Commissioner Reasi Ravinder Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Babu Ram, ACR Abdul Satar, SDMs, ACD and various other officers were present in the meeting. Divisional Commissioner took a detailed review of the ongoing development works in Education, Health, R and B and allied sectors. He directed the concerned departments to work in synergy and ensure adherence to quality norms and fix timelines. He stressed for regular monitoring of the projects besides ensuring responsive administration for welfare of general public. He directed the concerned officers to resolve all the issues of the PMGSY roads including land acquisition so that they get completed at an earliest without causing any inordinate delay. He directed the concerned officers to redouble their efforts for providing basic facilities to the public. He said public participation is vital for expediting the development works. Meantime, District Development Commissioner apprised the Div Com about the various initiatives taken for speeding up the develop- ment process in the district besides providing prompt services to the people at their door steps. Div Com directed Chief Medical Officer to ensure the proper functioning of Blood Bank Reasi by making requi- site purchase of the equip- ments and other appliances so that funds allocated would be utilized in time bound man- ner. Food Safety Officers were asked to ensure regular test- ing of the Mid Day Meal so that quality food is served to the beneficiaries in the schools. Bhandari also directed the officers of Agriculture Department to ensure effec- tive implementation of central schemes meant for the farm- ers so that visible progress is made on the ground. ACD was asked to constitute spe- cial teams for expediting the ongoing works. Div Com reviews development works STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: District DevelopmentCommissione r (DDC) Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai on Tuesday convened a meeting to review the physical and financial achievements registered under various State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes of health sector. Chief Medical officer Ramban, Dr. Saif-u-Din Khan gave a resume of the functioning of the depart- ment and informed the chair about ongoing con- struction works of health centers at Ramban, Banihal, Batote and Gool. He informed that there are 119 health institutions in the district. He also informed that the approved outlay is Rs. 207.71 lakh and total expenditure ending in June is 34 per cent lt was given out that 1,23,703 patients were treated and 1,937 Micro and Minor surgeries, 31,960 lab tests and 1,553 Ultrasound were conduct- ed besides 1,064 deliver- ies have been recorded during the current finan- cial year. Stressing upon con- cerned officers to execute the ongoing works within stipulated time, the DDC directed for strictly adher- ing on the specifications and use of quality material for creation of durable assets of public utility. DDC reviews health sector schemes STATE TIMES NEWS THATHRI: Students of a Government Higher Secondary School of Khara in Doda District on Tuesday held a protest against district administration and blocked the Doda-Gandoh Road, alleging the district administration has failed to provide ade- quate infrastructure in the HSS. The students of Government Higher Secondary School raised slogans against the district administration and blocked the road for three hours. The students alleging that the administration has failed to provide a building to the GHSS said that HSS is working in four hired rooms and demanded immediate completion of HSS building. Amjeed Hussain said that due to the lack of a building, students sit in an open sky. He said the situation became unbearable in the winters and on rainy days classes had to be abandoned. They also warned that if their demands are not fulfilled within week's time, then they will start indefinite strike against the gov- ernment. "The administration identified the land few day ago but so far no progress has been made to acquire the land". The stu- dents called off their protest after officials from the district administration assured them of looking into their demands. Students demand GHSS building, stage protest STATE TIMES NEWS BILLAWAR: Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Former Minister convened a meet- ing of prominent citizens, Sarpanchs, Panchs and party cadres at his resi- dence in village Durang of Tehsil Billawar to discuss the on going struggle and development in getting dis- trict status for Billawar in which it was unanimously decided that the fight for district should be intensi- fied to seek support of the people belonging to every nook and corner Billawar Sub Division and area adjoining to it. He further said that by keeping in view the population, geographi- cal area and distance from exiting district Kathua, Billawar has enough ground to be a district. All participants of this exclusive meeting said that we will whole heartedly sup- port this cause in the inter- est of general public of Billawar and fight till the logical conclusion. Dr Sharma said that the BJP-PDP Govt. and Dy CM Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh is totally working against the interest of Billawar and always sup- ports and favours his native place Basholi in every mat- ter. He is trying to shift some impor- tant offices from Billawar to Basholi to create strong base for District, he said. Youth dies, 2 injured due to short circuit STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: A youth died and two others got seriously injured due to electric shock triggered by some fault in transformer at village Bhargi of Tehsil Gandoh in district Doda on Tuesday. Irked over the alleged irresponsible and pathetic attitude of Power Development Department (PDD), people demanded stern action against the officials for putting the life of humans at risk as one person died and two others got injured due to electric shock triggered after a local transformer got some fault. After hearing about the incident, police immediately rushed to the spot and shifted all to Sub District Hospital Gandoh where one of them succumbed to his injuries while other two are under- going treatment. According to reports, police has also taken cognisance of the inci- dent and registered a case against the concerned department for their negligence. DODA: A youth died and two others got seriously injured due toelectric shock triggered by some fault in transformer at villageBhargi of Tehsil Gandoh in district Doda on Tuesday.

Irked over the alleged irresponsible and pathetic attitude ofPower Development Department (PDD), people demanded sternaction against the officials for putting the life of humans at risk asone person died and two others got injured due to electric shocktriggered after a local transformer got some fault.

After hearing about the incident, police immediately rushed tothe spot and shifted all to Sub District Hospital Gandoh whereone of them succumbed to his injuries while other two are under-going treatment.

According to reports, police has also taken cognisance of the inci-dent and registered a case against the concerned department fortheir negligence. When contacted SDPO Gandoh Sunny Guptawhile confirming the incident said that, after receiving an infor-mation about the incident, we reached the spot and along withlocals shifted all to hospital for treatment.

"As of now, we have registered a case vide FIR No 50/2017under section 337,304-A against the department at Police StationGandoh and started investigation of the incident," SDPO added.

The deceased has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Son of AbdulAziz resident of Bhargi Bhallesa.
