Touchmark believes in sharing and supporting each resident in a fulfilled life. People find the encouragement and resources to live each day with passion, purpose, and joy—it’s their {FULL} Life.

Recently, the community has been celebrating and talking about the {FULL} Life.

“We’re focusing on different aspects,” says Life Enrichment/Wellness Director Krista Musser. “We started with joyful. It’s been fun, and the possibilities are endless.” For one activity, residents, families, and team members wrote on a banner what the full life means to them or shared other inspiring “full” words. Resident Frances Wagner wrote the following. “Open your door; Close your door; You are free to spend time alone; You are free to share time with lovely friends. We are a family. We are at home!”

Morning Coffee with Werner

Touchmark Founder and CEO Werner G. Nistler, Jr., visited with residents, team members, and the public during a casual meet and greet. A native of North Dakota, Werner founded Touchmark in 1980, and there are 11 Touchmark communities in eight states and Canada. During the visit, Werner connected with resident Jerry White, who worked at the community for over 10 years. Jerry and her husband, Jack, were one of the first investors in Touchmark at All Saints.

Everyone gathered for the Bistro Grand Reopening and received reusable Touchmark Coffee Club mugs, part of Touchmark’s green effort to reduce the use of disposable paper goods. The Bistro Coffee Shop will offer baked goods, sandwiches, and ice cream up to three days a week.

The headlines alone are enough to baffle us. Why would someone shoot and kill children and their teachers? How does a citizen feel empowered by sharing information that could

jeopardize the well-being of others? “Why, why, why?” No one knows the answers, and some debate the questions.

The question seems to be, “Does the right to be heard override the rights of others to be safe?” That challenge lies with the Supreme Court, the Canadian Ministries, and leaders in democratic countries around the world. In reality, it is important to be heard but not necessary to be right. That is the premise of the constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Canadian provincial governance, and other democratic bodies.

As we celebrate Canada Day July 1 and the Fourth of July in the USA, we set aside personal preferences and biases and focus on the lives dedicated to freedom and the rights we all

hold dear.

In my interviews with Touchmark residents, I often pause and reflect on the wisdom, life experience, patriotism, and thoughtful observations they share. In the Lifelong Learning, Civic Engagement, and Legacy project offerings of Touchmark’s Full Life Wellness & Life Enrichment Program, there are venues and opportunities for residents to participate and share their knowledge and opinions.
