Things to do in HuntingdonAs the lyrics from that well-known Grease song say, ‘Summer daysdrifting away to oh oh the summer nights’. And that’s what webring you (gratefully without the singing).

It might not be California in 1959, however, we are all lookingforward to those long summer evenings and there is more goingon than you think.

Many of Huntingdon’s venues offer evening entertainment fromShakespeare to karaoke, snooker to quiz nights to eating anddrinking al fresco. A great way to know what’s going on is to visitthe venue’s Facebook page (or ours at HuntingdonFirst) or lookout for posters.

Some choices include The Market Inn, The George Hotel,DaVinci’s, The Falcon and The Montagu Club.

However, if it’s an al fresco meal and drink that’s making you wantto break the mould, then our town has lots of places offeringlovely, welcoming outside areas. Why not try The Old Bridge,Alex’s, The Falcon, Sandford House, The Samuel Pepys, TheGeorge Hotel not to mention those that offer the pavement café experience.

Take a peek at our ‘Find a Business’ page on our website fordetails of all venues – it’s easy to find atwww.huntingdonfirst.co.uk

Get out and about Now is the time of year when we all hope to be able to enjoy thegreat outdoors whether it be a gentle stroll or something a littlemore energetic.

Get prepared! Eithertreat yourself to anew bike or dig thatone out of the backof the garage for aservice; Richardson’sCycles are here in thetown ready to helpand advise.

With many stores inHuntingdon offering an ever-increasing array of picnicgoodies, why not enjoy a lazyafternoon in the sun by theriver. Check out Wilko andArgos for the iconic picnicblanket and accessories, whilst Sainsbury’s, Aldi andWaitrose can provide all theingredients as well!

A good alternative is just to take a bottle of chilled wine or beerand let the world go by (we like that one!). So don’t waste your daysitting in traffic jams all the way to the coast; break out the sun tanlotion and cool shades and see what Huntingdon has to offer.

There are many beautifulplaces to take a walk orcycle ride, especiallyalong Riverside.Speaking of which, howabout messing about onthe river (well, don’tmess about but youknow what we mean).Hire a boat from PurvisMarine and enjoy aleisurely trip on the riverGreat Ouse or even try a

spot of fishing* (*permit and licence required). Energy to spare? Then there’s a children’s playpark to make a few more happymemories!

And then we have the richhistory. The CromwellMuseum is a treasure troveof all things to do withOliver Cromwell. Havingbeen born in Huntingdonand educated in the schoolhouse that now forms theMuseum, Cromwell rosefrom relative obscurity tobecome the most powerfulBritish figure of his age. Orwalk the Huntingdon TownTrail and discover thefascinating history of thetown from its Royal Charterto the, now disused, County& Borough Gaol. The Trail isavailable on our websitewww.huntingdonfirst.co.uk.

With plenty more events coming to Huntingdon in July andAugust including SummerEntertainment, HuntingdonCarnival / Live in the ParkFestival Weekend, TheBeach Party and BubbleRush, take the stress out oftravelling far and wide andenjoy something closer tohome.

Finish it off with a bite to eator seriously scrummyafternoon tea to round off apleasant day out.
