Your clients can do the following tests at the Vitality Wellness Centres and earn points

A Vitality Health Check

The Vitality Health Check includes a: Blood pressure test Blood glucose test Cholesterol test Weight assessment

Your clients can earn points as follows: 500 points for the blood pressure test 500 points for the blood glucose test 500 points for the cholesterol test 1 000 points for the weight assessment

HIV test 5 000 points

Vitality Nutrition Assessment 5 000 points

Vitality Fitness Assessment 2 500 points

Your clients can also earn bonus Vitality points for each test if their results are in the goal range.

*The Fitness Assessment can be done twice a year, five months apart. You can earn a maximum of 15 000 fitness points and 24 000 bonus fitness points a year.

Costs for using the Vitality Wellness Centre

The costs for these assessments are the same as if they were done at any of our partners in the Vitality Wellness Network. The costs for each assessment are:

R135 for the Vitality Health Check Discovery Health will pay for one Vitality Health Check a year from your client’s Screening and Prevention Benefit.

R190 for HIV counseling and testing Discovery Health will pay for one HIV test a year from your client’s Screening and Prevention Benefit.

R290 for the Vitality Nutrition Assessment This amount is paid up front and your client can claim back from their Medical Savings Account, if there are funds available.

R185 for the Vitality Fitness Assessment This amount is paid upfront and your client can claim back from their Medical Savings Account, if there are funds available. Note that no cash is kept on the Vitality Wellness Centre premises, so all payments must be made by card – credit, debit or cheque card.

How to book an appointment at a Vitality Wellness Centre

Please note these centres are not walk-in centres and bookings are compulsory. You can book appointments for your clients (or they can book for themselves) by calling 0861 106 659. The booking centre is open from 07:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Selected centres are open on Saturday mornings. You will need to give the following details when booking via the call centre:

Please note that Vitality Wellness Centres are an offering for individual clients and not for wellness days. Clients will receive an email confirming the details of their booking once it has been finalised.

Frequently asked questions

What are the operating times for the Wellness Centres?

Vitality Wellness Centres are open 08:00 – 17:00 Monday, Wednesday and Thursday as long as there are bookings made on these days. Selected centres are open on Saturday morning as long as bookings are made in advance. Appointment days and times are based on capacity and a first come, first serve basis. When you call 0861 106 659 to book, you will be advised to what time slots are available at the centre you or your clients would like to go to.

Can one book a group session or a family session? What is the maximum number of attendees for each booking?

You can book a family session. We advise booking a maximum of two people for each session.

How long are the screening sessions?

Assessment Session length – One client Session length –Two clients

Is there cost for parking at the Wellness Centres?

This will vary from centre to centre. Where there is a cost, you or your client will need to pay for the cost of the parking.

Are there penalties if I miss my booking or reschedule my session?

Yes, any client who doesn’t cancel an appointment at least 24 hours before the start of the appointment will have to pay the full assessment fee for all assessments missed.

Can I contact the individual Wellness Centres to make a booking?

No. All bookings are made through a central booking centre. To make a booking call 0861 106 659. If you book on behalf of your client, you will need to give your client’s full name, email address, phone number and Discovery membership number, as well as the following booking details: assessments required; preferred centre; preferred days and times.

Can non-Discovery Health members visit the Wellness Centre for their wellness screenings and HIV counselling and testing?

Yes, anyone can visit the centre to do any of the assessments available. Non-members will need to pay for all assessments upfront. Costs for each assessment are:

Vitality Health Check: R135

HIV Counseling and testing: R190

Vitality Nutrition Assessment: R290

Vitality Fitness Assessment: R185

Note that no cash is kept on the premises and that all payments must be made by card – credit, debit or cheque card.
