From the Principal … Welcome Back - I trust that our students and families had an enjoyable break. It was great to see our students happy to return to school yesterday excited for another term of learning. Term 4 is already looking to be very busy with many activities and events scheduled. Please ensure you are aware of key dates, deadlines and events that are coming up throughout the term. Raffle Tickets –This year there are lots of amazing prizes on offer including a 55 inch LED Smart TV, A Drone and a UE Boom speaker. Help the Stage 3 fundraising efforts by selling raffle tickets to your family, friends and neighbours. Please return raffle money in an envelope to the front office. All sold and unsold raffle books are due back by Monday 16 October. 201 8 Enrolments – We have started looking at structures and staffing for the 2018 school year. We are requesting any families with students who will start Kindergarten next year collect an enrolment form from the front office. This ensures students are included in the Kindergarten Orientation process and allows our school to be staffed based on accurate numbers. Performing Arts Show The Age of Exploration – The excitement is rising as we get closer to our amazing end of year Performing Arts Show. Students and Teachers have worked extremely hard, and we look forward to celebrating the talent we have here at Governor Philip King Public School. Last term we sent two notes home with each performer. Please read these notes carefully and pay particular attention to the following points: Tickets: First release tickets are only available for performers and are available until Friday, 13 th October. Each performer may purchase ONLY 2 tickets. (Choose either 2 tickets for Show 1 OR 2 tickets for Show 2 or 1 ticket for Show 1 and 1 ticket for Show 2). Second release tickets will be offered to all students/parents/carers at GPKPS on Monday, 16 th October. To secure the best seats, tickets should be purchased NOW. There will be NO limit on the number of tickets purchased. Permission slips and medical notes: All performers must return their completed medical and permission notes by the due date to participate in the show. Mrs Esquivel and Mr Lorello, Performing Arts Co-ordinators. Safe, Respectful Learner Program - The focus for Weeks 1 and 2 is ‘Be a Learner - Listen, watch and learn’. To achieve good academic results it is important to be actively engaged in lessons. For us to become life-long learners, we need to listen carefully to teachers and peers, watch and practise new skills and learn to be self-motivated and to seek out new knowledge for ourselves. Please discuss this with your child/children and encourage them to want to learn new things. Ms Dolz, Student Engagement Team. Values Education – The value for Weeks 1 and 2 is Satisfaction/Contentment. Satisfaction is gaining a sense of wellbeing and happiness from doing something well. Satisfaction brings peace of mind and leads to contentment. Contentment is being in peace inside ourselves. To gain satisfaction we need to achieve things, results. To achieve results we need to make our best effort. If we try our best we will experience satisfaction and feel happy and content. Please discuss with your children the importance of feeling satisfied and content. Mrs S. Kumar, Student Engagement. Week 1 Term 4 10 October 2017
