FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES FOR STAFF AND RESIDENTS RESIDING AT COLLINGTON EPISCOPAL LIFE CARE

COMMUNITY The Creighton Center is equipped with fire/smoke detection devices which are tied into its alarm system. The system automatically assists in containing and retarding fire through automatic door closing and zoning. Staff is responsible to make sure that all Residents in the Creighton Center are behind fire doors, to confine the fire, and to pull the alarm. If a Staff member encounters smoke or a fire, the following actions should be taken: R. Remove anyone in the room while calling “Code Red, location…” for assistance. Close the door to the fire room and any room connecting doors. A. Activate the fire alarm. Call Security (x2222) and give exact location and nature of fire. C. Close all remaining doors and windows in the fire zone, placing Residents into rooms. E. Evacuate as directed by person in charge. STAFF IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA…RESPONSE TO THE ALARM or HEARING “CODE RED” BEING CALLED OUT: • Activate the fire alarm • Assist in the evacuation of the fire room and close the door to the fire room. • Close doors and windows to remaining rooms in the fire zone, placing Residents into rooms. • Clear corridor of equipment. Do not place equipment into occupied Resident rooms.
