Yet, the Lord invites us to join Him on a regular basis through Holy Scripture and the Sacraments. Many ignore the invitation, and in most cases are not even aware of the fact they have received it. Those who read this are aware of the invitation. The question is How do we respond? What do we do after we attend a Holy Mass? What is our reaction to the reception of Christs incredible gift in the Eucharist? We may not make light of it like some of the people in the parable, but if we merely go our sep- arate ways, and do not strive to be active disciples, we are basically doing the same thing as those Jesus de- scribes in this parable. Mystic Monk Coffee & Tea for Sale

The Carmelite monks at Clark, WY are in the business of roasting coffee beans and selling their coffee, both whole bean and ground, to customers nationally. The

revenue from the coffee sales is used to help build a new monastery 17 miles northwest of Meteeteese for their current 18 monks. Their coffee and tea is used at our Sunday morn-ing breakfast. Both the coffee and tea is available for sale at the St. Anthony Gift Shop at the Shepherd's Staff. The coffee and tea make wonderful gifts.

NOV. LOVING MEMORY CANDLES We have “Loving Memory Candles” available for purchase for $6.00 per candle. These candles offer an opportunity for you to remember and pray for deceased relatives and friends. The candles are left in the Church, and will be placed in front of the altar and lit for the All Souls Day Mass on November 2. You may write the names of your loved ones on your candle, and they will be remember at all the daily Masses that week. You can purchase the candles now at the Shepherd Staff office during business hours.

Today’s Gospel from the Book of Matthew again in-cludes parables. We have been hearing the Lord share parables with us throughout our readings in recent weeks. Interestingly Matthew contains 23 parables (or teachings classified as parables), while Luke has 28. Mark has only nine, and John has none.

The first parable we hear today is called The Parable of the Wedding Feast. In this story shared by Jesus for our benefit a king is hosting a wedding feast for his son. He sends out invitations and people ignore them or choose not to respond. It may seem somewhat remarkable to us that people turn down an invitation to a royal wed-ding feast.

Yet, the Lord invites us to join Him on a regular basis through Holy Scripture and the Sacraments. Many ignore the invitation, and in most cases are not even aware of the fact they have received it. Those who read this are aware of the invitation. The question is “How do we respond?”

What do we do after we attend a Holy Mass? What is our reaction to the reception of Christ’s incredible gift in the Eucharist? We may not make light of it like some of the people in the parable, but if we merely go our sep-arate ways, and do not strive to be active disciples, we are basically doing the same thing as those Jesus de-scribes in this parable. In one of his first appearances Pope Francis declared, “Go make disciples of all na-tions.” We cannot make disciples unless we are our-selves disciples.

MARY’S FUND 2018

Wyoming Council of Catholic Women has selected the SUDAN
