New Playground

Our new playground is almost completed and I know that all of Prep-Year 2 children are looking forward to being able to get on to the site and start playing on it. As part of the playground, a flying fox has been added to the Year 3-6 playground at the rear of the tennis courts. All of those children are looking forward to playing on that piece of equipment as well. Helen has photos of the playground in her column in the newsletter.

Football Carnival

A number of our Year 6 Boys were able to participate in the District Football Carnival yesterday. The event was held at Kennington Primary School, and judging by the amount of mud they brought back with them, they had a fantastic time. Planning For 2022

We are commencing our planning for 2022 and we have a number of new families expressing interest in enrolling at Eaglehawk North. If you have an enrolment for next year, can you please pick up an enrolment pack and return it to the school as soon as possible.

COVID19 Restrictions

We are hoping to see an easing of Covid-19 some time soon. As soon as the Department sends us its expectations of schools, we will let you know what the protocols will be.

My Good Read

My Good Read this week is the book ‘Mallee Sky’. Mallee Sky is an extremely timely and beautiful picture book about the effects of drought and climate change in the Mallee.

The first people of the land call the Mallee "Nowie". It means sunset country. When the sun goes down the red heat of the day bleeds into the sky and sets it on fire. Drought and rain - life under a Mallee Sky. This poetic text by emerging author Jodi Toering is beautifully accompanied by lush oil paintings by fine artist and illustrator Tannya Harricks. Mallee Sky is suitable for children in Years 3-6.

SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS

The focus for our SWPBS program this term is: RESPECT FOR LEARNING.

What does this mean?

We do everything we can to help ourselves be good learners.

Why is this important?

We want to be able to learn new things.

The L for learning is the yellow letter in our acronym SOLE.

BELLA RANDELLO is this week’s winner. She takes out the award for:

Following instructions the first time and every time with her learning.

Curriculum Day - Date to be advised

You can be involved in SWPBS in many ways at home as a family by teaching behaviour expectations and

reinforcing ENPS SWPBS strategies. For example:

· Teach your child what behaviour you want to see

· Verbally acknowledge and recognise when they meet the expected behaviour

· Respond consistently and with meaningful consequences when problem behaviour occurs- tips

Mr McNaughton has recently mounted our Values Award boards in the Multi

-Purpose Room. Each student who wins an overall award has their certificate

with their picture on it placed on the boards. They look great under our

whole school Values signage.

GREAT WORK

I have just looked at the July figures for our fantastic students who have

attended 90-100% of school days. Two classes had 20 students out of their 23

class enrolments who attended every day. This is great news considering the

weather and current conditions.

WELL WORTH THE WAIT!

It is nearly twelve months since I applied for the grant to have our old timber

playground replaced. The success of our application was announced in November last year. The funds for

the project became available once quotes were accepted. We then could book dates with ‘Adventure +’.

So, it is quite a process, but we are certainly very happy with the result.

Football Carnival

Wednesday 4th August 2021

It was a grim looking forecast going into the week, rain for most parts of the day. The previous weeks’ worth of rain was still sitting on the oval. This didn’t dull the spirits of the Eaglehawk North PS Football team who got to school early Wednesday morning ready to leave to Kennington PS. We found a dry spot

next to Quarry Hill and got ourselves organised. Our first game was against St Libs who donned the Richmond sash. We played well but came away with a draw. The games were played on smaller ovals with 16 players on the field. Two 10 minute halves was all the boys had to defeat the opposition. The

boys were quite muddy after the first 10 minutes of play. Ominous clouds loomed above for our second game of the day, which was against Specimen Hill PS. Coached by Mr Daniel Francis, Specimen Hill

couldn’t score in the first half and we looked comfortable. The second half was a dominating performance by Speci and we lost the game by 2 goals. We won our next two games, one against Marong and the other against Quarry Hill in the rain. Max Liddy, Cohen Barker, ‘Dobby’ and Harley Van Der Hoeven filled in

for Quarry Hill to give them some much needed support. Overall the boys had a lot of fun and were extremely well behaved. A big thank you to Kellie Farrow who took the ENPS football jumpers home to

wash, which was definitely a huge job! Thanks Kel!
