Infant Baptism Preparation…Next session is sched-

uled for Thursday, June 7 from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. in the

your baby for Baptism, please contact the

Parish Office (847-1393) before June 7.

Whenever possible, try to have both parents

attend the preparation session.

Thought for the Week… Who are ‗friends‘? Friends

have a great deal to do with who and what we our-

selves become, not because they direct us but because

they simply allow us to be ourselves when others want

us to be someone else. Friendship is one of the treas-

ures of life that cannot be bought. It increases every

joy and makes every sorrow bearable. Conrad Aiken

says of it, ―Music I heard with you was more than mu-

sic / And bread I broke with you was more than

bread.‖ Friends are the other side of our soul. They

enable us to see what is not visible when our own

spirit is lost in darkness. We look to a friend to stand

between us and the storms of life so that we have the

time we need to reflect on becoming our strongest

selves. To be a friend I must commit to confidential-

ity, to honesty and to settling into darkness while pre-

paring to stay there till the sun comes up again.

convenience |kənˈvēnyəns|

noun 1 the state of being able to proceed with something

with little effort or difficulty: the museum has a cafete-

ria for your convenience.

a thing that contributes to an easy and effortless

way of life : voice mail was seen as one of the

desktop conveniences of the electronic office.

Look at the word that I have defined above and

ponder what it means to you. For the past couple of

months, my eyes have been fixated on the news and on

all the attacks on religion and our Catholic faith; and

there are some pretty hurt souls out there. I constantly

hear silence from the people when God is profaned or

degraded. I see a lot of doubt in people‘s eyes. We

remain silent, quiet, and timid when we know that we

were not created to be like that. Paul reminds us in his

letters to Timothy that we need not to be afraid. Paul

states, ―For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame

the fit of God that you have through the imposition of

my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of coward-

ice but rather of power and love and self-control.‖

My brothers and sisters, remember convenience

is not always the best answer. Remember that there

was no martyr or Saint who opted for convenience. We

have a calling to be like Saints, so put away the effort-

less and easy life and embrace God.

D-Week (June 11-14, cost: $205): D-Week is a four

day retreat for Catholic teens ages 13-18, designed

to ignite (or re-ignite) your Catholic faith. Young

people experience the love, mercy and power of

God. Many state that D-Week has awakened or re-

energized their relationship with Jesus Christ. Oth-

ers speak of their faith being ―set afire‖ through the

Holy Spirit. And still others share how Christ came

alive for them in Eucharist, Reconciliation and

Adoration. Discipleship Week is an awesome com-

bination of great music, excellent talks, praise and

worship, Mass & Reconciliation, entertainment, fun

and fellowship! Cost is $205 with a $50 down pay-

ment due by June 1. Contact Brady if you have any

questions or go to www.netusa.org to register.

Blessed John Paul II Leadership Camp

July 8-12, 2012 — Park Rapids, MN

Open to all youth who are going into 7th, 8th, and 9th

grade in the fall of 2012. This camp is designed

around the idea of creating servant leaders through

the vision of Blessed Pope John Paul II. If you

have any questions or would like a brochure please

contact Brady at the Parish Office.

Steubenville North Conference (July 27-29, cost $220). A Steubenville High School Youth Conference (grades 9-12) is a resource that addresses the needs of today’s Catholic youth. The conferences are organized on a national and regional level, with an exciting line-up of speakers, musicians, and presenters. The conferences will challenge the youth to stand firm in their faith, rely upon the awesome power of Jesus Christ who is their guide, friend, and Savior, and to show that faith to the world. A highlight of the weekend is the powerful time of Eucharistic Adoration. If your teens are beginning their personal walk with Christ, needing strength to continue the journey, or just ready to rejoice in the many blessings He has given, then this is the conference you are looking for! If you are interested or would like to sign up your child, contact Brady at the church. Limited Spots.

Fun in the Son: The Lord enjoys when we play, so we will play! July 30-31 we will be do-ing our yearly trip to Minneapolis. This trip will include a twins game, shopping at the Mall of America, ValleyFair, and Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul. The cost will be $140. Open to all kids in grades 7th-12th. If you are interested, please call the parish office and register your child.
