GLOBAL CONTESTThe backbone of the WSA initiative is the bi-annualglobal contest on e-Content and Creativity. It is heldin eight categories, covering the entire life cycle.There are 8 nominations for the Global Contest fromeach participating country.

NATIONAL CONTESTSAs of today over 50 countries run national contests,based on WSA rules and procedures. Other countriesdo national pre-selections, based on a decision bya committee of experts. Winners of national contestsare automatically nominated for the WSA globalcontest.

THE IDEA

The World Summit Award is today the world's leading initiative for selecting and promoting the best products in

creative e-Content and innovative interactive applications. It started in 2003, initiated by Austria in the framework

of the United Nations' World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). Presently, 168 countries are actively

participating in the process.
