Youth Risk Behavior SurveyThe YRBS, developed by CDC, is administered every

two years in all middle and high schools.

In SY0809, the YRBS was completed by 2,145 HS students (an 84% response rate) and by 2,417 MS students (an 81% response rate).

The results are representative all of SFUSD students in middle schools (6 - 8) and high schools (9-12).

About the School Climate Survey:The survey was developed by SFUSD Student

Support Services Department & ETR Associates.

Many of the questions on the survey were from the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), developed by WestEd for the California Department of Education (CDE) and used with permission.

The survey focused primarily on school safety issues.

In SY0708, over 22,000 SFUSD students completed the anonymous survey.
