Bucknell takes great pride in its commitment to excellence on and off the playing fields. From Presidents’ Cups to Academic All-Americans to gradua-tion rates that are ranked annually in the national top-10, Bucknell is clearly at the head of the class when it comes to upholding the scholar-athlete ideal.

• According to federal data released by the NCAA each fall, Bucknell’s student-athlete graduation rate annually ranks in the top 10 among all Division I institutions. Bucknell has led the nation in graduation rates twice, and in the most recent survey in the fall of 2012, Bucknell ranked No. 2 in the nation.

• Bucknell has claimed a league-high 128 Patriot League Scholar-Ath-letes of the Year since the league’s inception as an all-sports conference in 1990-91.

• A total of 392 Bison appeared on the Patriot League Academic Hon-or Roll in 2011-12 after recording a GPA of 3.2 or better during their sport’s competition season. Among all BU student-athletes, 266 made the Dean’s List with GPAs of 3.5 or better in the spring 2012 semester.

• In addition to the 122 Capital One Academic All-Americans produced since 1970, Bucknell has also claimed 332 Academic All-District honor-ees over the same span, including 15 in 2011-12.

• Bucknell has earned 91 Patriot League championships in 22 years in the league. In addition, Bucknell has had 113 conference players of the year, 99 PL coaches of the year and a whopping 533 individual league champions from sports such as cross country, track & field, swimming & diving, tennis and golf.

• 24 of Bucknell’s 27 varsity squads posted team GPAs of 3.0 or better in the spring of 2012.

• Bucknell has captured the Patriot League Presidents’ Cup, signifying the league’s all-sports champion, 17 times in the 22-year history of the affiliation, including 13 of the last 15 years.

• Bucknell ranks FIFTH in the nation (to Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State and Stanford) in total number of Capital One Academic All-Amer-ica selections with 122.

• A major element in ensuring Bucknell’s commitment to athletics excel-lence is the Kenneth G. Langone Athletics & Recreation Center, which opened fully in 2003. One of the finest collegiate athletics facilities of its kind, the center includes the 4,000-seat Sojka Pavilion, the Olym-pic class Kinney Natatorium, the Krebs Family Fitness Center and the Berger Family Weight Room. A Hall of Fame area, a display of Bucknell’s Medal of Honor recipients, a new Academic All-America wall, a sports medicine suite, modern offices for coaches and staff, and locker room and classroom space are also included in the facility’s layout.

Bucknell Athletics is first and foremost a student-centered organization, one that strives to be a national leader when it comes to operating by a true scholar-athlete model. At Bucknell, student-athletes’ academic programs are their first priority, and providing a competitive Division I athletics program only advances the mission, values and residential learning goals of the university. To that end, the Department of Athletics and Recreation proactively seeks ways to assist student-athletes in their daily academic pursuits. Below are just some of the student-athlete support programs currently in place.

BUCKNELL BISON LEADERSHIP ACADEMY: In 2011-12, the Department of Athletics launched the Bucknell Bison Leadership Academy. This program is designed to help student-athletes learn how to be effective leaders on and off the playing fields. The Leadership Academy features programming and instruction that bridge theory, development and real experiences in an interactive learning environment. Through this endeavor, team leaders can enhance their impact on their teammates’ and their program’s performance immediately and for years to come.

FACULTY ATHLETICS REPRESENTATIVE: The faculty athletics representative (FAR) is a member of the faculty or administrative staff who is designated to represent Buck-nell in its relationships with the NCAA and the Patriot League. Bucknell’s FAR is Mitch Chernin, Professor of Biology. The FAR can enhance the student-athlete experience by promoting a balance between academics, athletics and the social lives of student-athletes, which affords them opportunities to enjoy a full range of collegiate experiences.

SIDELINE COACH PROGRAM: This program is a truly unique initiative in Division I college athletics, and it involves the invitation of a member of the faculty, administration, staff or community by one of Bucknell’s 27 varsity teams. The participant has the opportunity to discuss the overall program with the respective coaching staff, including practice preparation and strategy for the upcoming contest. The sideline coach attends a practice session and an actual intercollegiate competition, where he/she is intro-duced to the team and gains rarely seen insight into the relationships that exist between player-coach and player-player. The purpose of the Sideline Coaches Program is to foster a better understanding by the faculty and administration of the roles played by coaches and athletes in the university’s competitive intercollegiate athletic arena.

ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT CENTER: In the Fall of 2005, the Department of Athletics opened a study/computer lab for student-athletes on the concourse level of Sojka Pavilion. The center is outfitted with computers, a laser printer, four television monitors and a projection unit with computer, VCR and DVD player. Additionally, the study lab can be used as a meeting place for group projects, tutorial area or just a secluded and quiet study space before or after practice. In addition, the Department of Athletics owns a number of laptop computers that may be signed out by student-athletes for use on away trips.

STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC): Representatives from each varsity team comprise the SAAC, which is designed to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image. The Committee is an invaluable resource for pro-moting communication between athletics administration and student-athletes; promoting communication between athletics and campus-wide administration; providing feedback and insight, as well as soliciting responses into department issues and proposed NCAA legislation; building a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletics teams; organizing community service projects and efforts; creating a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide committees; serving as a collective voice of campus student-athletes; and disseminating information to the student-athlete body. Among the programs the Bucknell SAAC has undertaken in recent years are regular volunteer trips to the Lewisburg Food Bank, and involvement with the “Orange and Blue goes Green” sustainability program.

BISON GOOD SPORTS: Now in its seventh year, Bison Good Sports is a sportsmanship awareness program designed to promote appropriate fan conduct at all Bison sporting events. Bucknell teams have some of the best fan support in the Patriot League, and we encourage all fans to enthusiastically cheer on the Orange & Blue in a positive manner.

Bucknell Athletics Facilities

Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium: The home of Bison men’s lacrosse, football and track & field.

The Bucknell University Department of Ath-letics and Recreation prides itself on setting the standard of excellence when it comes to success both on the playing fields and in the classroom. With 17 Patriot League Presidents’ Cups in 22 years, national leadership in graduation rates, 122 Academic All-Americans in 42 years and 128 Patriot League Scholar-Athletes in 22 years, Bucknell is clearly at the head of the class in terms of upholding the scholar-athlete model.

The addition of the Kenneth G. Langone Athletics and Recreation Center, one of the finest collegiate athletics and recreation venues of its kind, ensures the continuation of that success.

The facility enhances each of Bucknell’s 27 varsity programs and greatly expands the scope of its growing intramural and recreational sports offer-ings. A visually appealing structure located along Moore Avenue on the “downhill” side of campus, the Langone Athletics and Recreation Center was designed to reach out to all members of the campus community, includ-ing the student body, varsity student-athletes, faculty, staff and alumni.

Three primary venues lie within the facility: the Arthur D. Kinney Jr. Natatorium, the 4,000-seat Gary A. Sojka Pavilion and the Krebs Family Fitness Center. Other features include a new location for the Bucknell Ath-letics Hall of Fame, a display of Bucknell’s Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, a brand new display highlighting Bucknell’s all-time Academic All-Americans, a sports medicine and athletic training suite, classrooms, modern offices for coaches and staff and increased locker room space for varsity and recreational athletes.

The facility is named in honor of Ken Langone, a 1957 Bucknell graduate who, along with his wife Elaine, pledged $11 million toward the center’s construction. Langone was a member of the university Board of Trustees from 1980 to 1996.

One of the special qualities of the Langone Athletics and Recreation Center is the manner in which it supplements the pre-existing facilities. The construction surrounds Gerhard Fieldhouse and historic Davis Gymnasium, which has been restored as a competition venue for the Bison wrestling and volleyball teams, as well as intramural, recreation and other varsity practice activities.

As Bucknell continues to strive toward its mission of setting the stan-dard of excellence in college athletics, the Langone Athletics and Recreation Center becomes the centerpiece in an already impressive cache of athlet-ics facilities that includes the 13,100-seat Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium and its FieldTurf and 8-lane track surface; the scenic Bucknell Golf Club and brand new Bachman Golf Center; the newly refurbished Depew Field (baseball) and Becker Field (softball); and Emmitt Field and Graham Field at Holmes Stadium, the new portion of the West Fields project that includes covered grandstand seats, ticket and concession areas, team rooms, a training room and a press box area for soccer, field hockey and women’s lacrosse.

2013 Season PreviewEach year the Bucknell men’s lacrosse

team’s list of competitive goals starts with winning the Patriot League championship. Along with the shiny hardware that comes with claiming the title is an automatic ticket to the NCAA Tournament. In recent years winning the Patriot League has become an extremely daunting task, however. The con-ference is now considered one of the best in the country, with Bucknell (18), Lehigh (11) and Colgate (10) all ranked in the preseason top-20 with Army and Navy on the cusp. In the last decade, the league has sent mul-tiple teams to the NCAA Tournament four times, including last season with Lehigh and Colgate, and Bucknell dropped an overtime heartbreaker to eventual national champion Virginia in its most recent NCAA appearance in 2011. Furthermore, the league is poised to get even stronger in 2014, when defend-ing national champion Loyola and Boston University begin play.

Fortunately for head coach Frank Fedor-jaka and the Bison, they have a talented and balanced lineup coming back this spring. Last year’s leading scorer, Third Team All-American Billy Eisenreich, has graduated, but the next four point-producers are all back. Bucknell has a pair of All-America candidates on the defensive end of the field in senior goalie Kyle Feeney and senior defenseman Mike Huffner, the Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. In all, seven starters return from last year’s squad that finished 9-7 and fell to Colgate in the Patriot League Tourna-ment semifinals.

The Bison also have a very promising first-year class, with freshmen expected to be in the rotation at attack, midfield and long-stick defensive midfield.

“Winning the Patriot League is the No. 1 goal for us,” said Fedorjaka, who is starting his eighth year as Bucknell’s head coach. “This is obviously a very tough league, but we are go-ing to take it one game at a time and do what we do. We have a plan and our own style, and we are going to stick to that. We have terrific leadership in our senior class, and we don’t have any glaring weaknesses.”

Fedorjaka directly oversees the Bison defense, and he has a deep and talented group returning this spring, led by a fourth-year starter in goal in Feeney. A two-time all-league selection and eighth-round draft pick of the MLL’s Charlotte Hounds, Feeney has always been a strong ball-stopper. Now

as a senior co-captain, he is also the vo-cal leader of the defense. He understands Bucknell’s complex defensive scheme, and Fedorjaka said he is as good as any goalie he has coached at directing his teammates in front of him.

Huffner is a two-time First Team All-Patriot League honoree and one of the top cover men in the league. He can handle at-tackmen that are big and physical or smaller and quicker, and the Patriot League features all kinds. Junior Jackson Place is also a return-ing starter, and he and Huffner mesh very well. Stepping into the third close defense position is sophomore Ben Kellar, who was ticketed for a starting spot last season before suffering an ACL tear late in fall ball. Senior co-captain Dylan Burke could also see time on close defense.

Senior co-captain Wills Miller and fresh-man ground ball whiz Alex Spring will handle the bulk of the long-stick midfield duties, and the Bison return three experienced short-stick d-middies in senior Kyle O’Keefe, junior Sam McDonough and sophomore Andrew Dempsey. Freshman Zach Henkhaus is also knocking on the door for some playing time.

“Defensively we have a very nice foun-dation,” said Fedorjaka. “We have a lot of versatility and flexibility on defense. We have good cover guys and smart players who really understand how we play. Our system allows us to play multiple defenses and styles, and we have a goalie who knows how to direct them. Mike Huffner and Jackson Place can both cover anyone and they are both aggres-sive, and Ben Kellar is a very good comple-ment to them.”

The Bison return their two most expe-rienced faceoff specialists in senior Ryan Gutowski and sophomore Gavin Sullivan. Gutowski is also the starting punter for the Bucknell football team, so he missed fall practice. Sullivan took most of the reps in the fall and performed very well, and Fedorjaka anticipates using both of them judiciously to keep them fresh for the biggest games late in the season. Freshman Eric Monfort will also take some draws.

Fedorjaka is very excited about his wing players, including McDonough, Spring and sophomore Mike Ondrusek, who also plays short-stick d-mid. Last season the Bison won 45.7 percent of their draws, a figure that was significantly improved in the fall.

Offensively, Bucknell has two of the

country’s most accurate finishers among its attack unit. As a team, the Bison led the nation in shooting percentage (.371) a year ago, with senior Chase Bailey (.583) and junior Todd Heritage (.507) ranking second and seventh individually. Heritage led the team with 35 goals, including a school-record-tying eight in a win over Hobart, while Bailey added a career-high 28 goals to go along with 10 assists. Many of their goals were set up by Eisenreich, who produced 34 goals and 32 assists last season. This year the Bison will frequently put the ball in the stick of freshman Sean Doyle, a quick, shifty attackman who is both a strong shooter and feeder.

“We have a great set of attackmen with great balance,” said Fedorjaka. “Offensively we are at our best when we can move the ball around. Sean Doyle is very unselfish, and he brings a nice dimension to the offense. They all work well together.”

The midfield is probably Bucknell’s least-experienced unit, but it is also one of the deepest. Junior Peter Burke is coming off a 22-goal, 12-assist season, and he has scored some big goals late in games for the Bison over the last two years. Sophomore David Dickson was one of the most produc-tive rookies in the country last season, when he recorded 14 goals and 26 assists. Dickson is versatile enough to play both attack and midfield, and Fedorjaka feels that last year’s confidence boost will make him even better.

Senior Billy Mattimore returned last sea-son after a one-year absence, and he tallied eight goals and four assists as a second-line middie and EMO regular. Junior sharpshooter Tom Black, a seven-goal scorer last year, and sophomore Ryan Joseph also played on the second line in 2012.

As many as four freshmen are on the cusp of playing time at midfield, including the diminutive speedster Brock Ghelfi, who Fedorjaka says is one of the fastest play-ers he has ever coached. Ghelfi has spent time on the first midfield line in preseason scrimmages and could start in the opener at Delaware.

“I like our depth at midfield,” said Fe-dorjaka. “Peter Burke and David Dickson are returning starters, Billy Mattimore is ready for a breakout season, and Tom Black is probably our best shooter. And then we have some really good freshmen who are getting better and better. Their job is simply to run our of-fense and help manufacture shots and goals.”

Bison Coaching Staff

After two stints as an assistant coach at Bucknell spanning nearly a decade, Frank Fedorjaka took over as head coach in 2006 when he succeeded longtime mentor Sid Jamieson. Fedorjaka has led the Bison to two of the last four Patriot League regular-season titles, and in

2011 guided the team to its first Patriot League Tournament title and second NCAA Tournament appearance.

Fedorjaka became only the second head coach in Bucknell lacrosse his-tory, following in the footsteps of Jamieson, the Bucknell Hall of Famer who founded the varsity lacrosse program in 1968.

In his first season at the helm, Fedorjaka led the Bison to a historic vic-tory over No. 1 Maryland — the program’s first-ever victory over a top-ranked team — and another top-20 road win at Penn State later in the season. The victories really began to start pouring in during year No. 2, as the Bison went 11-4, including three top-20 wins, and came within one of the school record for wins in a season. Another 10-win season followed in 2008, and the Bison ad-vanced all the way to the Patriot League championship game for the first time.

In 2009 Fedorjaka was named Patriot League Coach of the Year for the first time after leading the Bison to a perfect 6-0 conference record and the Patriot League regular-season title. His team made it to the championship game for the second year in a row, this time dropping a one-goal heartbreaker to Navy.

In 2010, the Bison took second-ranked and eventual national champion Duke to overtime, and they again qualified for the postseason. Bucknell fin-ished 8-6, with the six losses coming by a combined seven goals.

And then in 2011 the Bison finished 14-3, setting a new school record for wins in a season. They went 6-0 in the Patriot League for the second time in three years and routed Lehigh and Colgate in the PL Tournament before entering the NCAA Tournament with a No. 7 national ranking, the high-est in program history. Bucknell nearly upset eventual national champion Virginia in the first round, leading for most of the game before falling 13-12 in overtime. Fedorjaka was rewarded with his second Patriot League Coach of the Year award.

Known throughout his career as one of the college game’s best defensive minds, Fedorjaka’s teams annually rank among the national leaders in scoring defense, man-down defense and riding efficiency.

In his first seven years as head coach he has mentored nine All-Patriot League defensemen, including 2011 All-American Alex Lyons, and four all-conference goalies. One of those goalies, Nick Sciubba, led the nation in save percentage and goals-against average in 2007. He has also coached three-time All-American Austin Winter and Third Team All-American Billy Eisenreich, and the 2009 team produced a school-record six First Team All-Patriot League honorees. Four of Fedorjaka’s student-athletes have gone on to play professional lacrosse after graduation, and current goalie Kyle Feeney was selected in the MLL draft.

Fedorjaka rejoined the Bucknell lacrosse family after serving as head coach at Franklin & Marshall for five years. Fedorjaka served as an assistant coach at Bucknell for the 1992 and 1993 seasons before going to F&M.

In his five seasons at F&M, the Diplomats compiled a 39-31 record. His 39 wins placed him in second on the school’s all-time lacrosse wins list.

In 1995 Fedorjaka was named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Division III Coach of the Year, after leading the Diplomats to a 12-3 record and an NCAA playoff berth. In addition to his responsibilities as men’s lacrosse coach, Fedorjaka also served as an assistant coach in football and women’s soccer during his tenure at F&M.

Also while at F&M Fedorjaka served as the Chair to the Southern ECAC Lacrosse Committee in 1997 and 1998. He served on the USILA National Ranking Committee and NCAA Advisory Committee for Division III lacrosse.

A 1989 graduate of Hobart College, Fedorjaka was a starting long-stick midfielder on three NCAA Division III national championship teams. He was also a three-year starter at wide receiver for the Statesman football team, earning All-America honors in 1988. The Rochester, N.Y., native was named

Joe Conner Jr. is in his fourth season on the Bucknell men’s lacrosse staff, and his second in the No. 1 assistant position, where he serves as

offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator.In Conner’s first season as the offensive coordinator in 2012, the Bison

finished the season with the No. 1 shooting percentage in the nation, and they set school records for goals, assists and points in a season. Inside Lacrosse’s Pace Statistics for Adjusted Offensive Efficiency Rating determined that the Bison had one of the most efficient offensive units in recent Division 1 lacrosse history throughout most of the 2012 season.

Conner was the assistant lacrosse coach at Mount St. Mary’s for two years before coming to Bucknell. At Mount St. Mary’s, Conner helped coach the Mount to a 5-3 conference record and a No. 2 seed in the MAAC playoffs, the Mount’s first conference playoff appearance in two years. He served as recruiting coordinator, and in his final season with The Mount he coached the defense, helping them to a No. 9 national ranking in goals allowed.

Conner is a 2007 graduate of Mount St. Mary’s and received his M.B.A. degree with a management concentration from The Mount as well in May of 2009. During the summer of 2009, Conner worked at Wells Fargo Financial as a Credit Manager before being hired by Bucknell in September of 2009. As a student-athlete, he played at Binghamton University for three years before transferring to Mount St. Mary’s to finish his playing career and pursue his coaching career. He was a midfielder at Binghamton and then was moved to attack when he transferred to Mount St. Mary’s.

A native of Ijamsville, Md., he played both lacrosse and football at Urbana High School. He was a high school All-American in lacrosse and started at quarterback on a record-setting football team that won four straight state championships and carried a 50-game winning streak. He currently holds the Frederick County Maryland high school touchdown pass record with 28 in a single season. Joe is the son of Joe Conner Sr. and Ximena Conner, and he has 2 younger brothers (Jason and Justin) and a younger sister (Jackie).

Hobart’s Athlete of the Year in 1989. During his career at Hobart, he held all reception records and remained the school’s all-time leading receiver until 2004. Fedorjaka began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for two years at Springfield College (Mass.).

Fedorjaka has two children: Matthew (15) and Jamie (11).

Former Bison men’s lacrosse standout Nick Marks returned to his alma mater in 2012 as an assistant coach on Frank Fedorjaka’s staff. A four-

year starting midfielder at Bucknell, Marks has remained very active in the sport of lacrosse since graduating in 2008 with a degree in classics and history.

Prior to returning to Bucknell, Marks served as head varsity lacrosse coach and assistant varsity football coach at Lake Zurich (Ill.) High School. The football team reached the Class 7A state championship game last season. While coaching, Marks also worked as a sales consultant for Harrow Sports and served as director of lacrosse operations for Team One Lacrosse, where he helped identify and recruit players for Illinois elite teams. In 2008-09 he was program director for Lacrosse America.

Marks enjoyed a terrific playing career at Bucknell. He played in 57 career games over four seasons and finished with 37 goals and nine assists for 46 points. He captained the 2008 team that finished 10-5 and reached the Patriot League championship game for the first time. Bucknell compiled a 21-9 record during his junior and season seasons and went 36-21 over his four-year career, making him part of the program’s winningest class at the time. In 2006, Marks was named Bucknell’s Most Improved Player, and he also earned the team’s Iron Man Award. In the classroom Marks was a Dean’s List student and a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

He was later a 2008 supplemental draft pick of Major League Lacrosse’s Chicago Machine, a 2012 supplemental draft pick by the Ohio Machine and was also member of the Chicago Shamrox of the National Lacrosse League.

C. Edwin Farver ’69Co-captain of Bucknell’s first two varsity lacrosse teams and the 1968-69 basketball team, Farver was a first team Little All-America and MVP in the Middle Atlantic Conference in lacrosse in 1969. He played in the North-South All-Star Game.

Louis L. Kissling, Jr. ’71Twice an All-American in lacrosse, Kissling co-captained his senior team, set season and career scoring records, was Most Valuable Player in the Middle Atlantic Conference in 1971, and was selected for the North-South All-Star Game.

Peter W. von Hoffman ’79A four-time All-East Coast Conference lacrosse player and twice an All-America selection, vonHoffman set numerous school scoring records, was twice co-captain, was ECC Most Valuable Player in 1979 and was selected for the North-South Game.

Thomas E. Cusick ’87A three-time All-East Coast Conference selection in men’s lacrosse, Cusick earned honorable mention All-America honors as a junior and was selected for the North-South Senior All-Star game in 1987. He ranked in the top five in the nation in scoring as a junior and senior, and was Bucknell’s all-time leading scorer when he graduated.

James W. McKee ’69One of the founding members of the varsity lacrosse program at Bucknell. McKee was honored as a second team College Division All-American and All-Mid-Atlantic Conference selection. He was a co-captain as a senior and graduated as the leading goal-scorer at Bucknell.

Thomas H. Sanders ’79Starting goalie for the lacrosse team for four straight years. He had a terrific senior campaign, earning All-ECC First Team and HM All-America honors. Sanders turned in several stellar performances in goal, including a 29-save outing vs. Army and 22 vs. Delaware that season. He held Bucknell records for saves in season (201) and a career (664), and still owns the mark for saves in a game (34).

Justin W. Zackey ’94One of the most prolific scorers in Bison annals, Zackey still holds the Bucknell records for goals in a season (63) and career (138) and points in a season (79 in 1993). A two-time Honorable Mention All-American who led the nation in goals per game (4.20) in 1993, Zackey was a First Team All-Patriot League pick in 1993 and 1994 and was a two-time Academic All-American.

Sidney I. JamiesonThe head coach of the Bison lacrosse program from its varsity inception in 1968 until his retirement after the 2005 season, Jamieson is one of the legends of college lacrosse. He led the Bison to seven league titles in three different conferences and ranked 10th all-time with 242 wins. He coached 17 All-Americans and was named USILA Coach of the Year after guiding Bucknell to a 12-0 record in 1996. In 2005 he received the prestigious Spirit of Tewaaraton Award.

Hugh Donovan ‘96 is the latest men’s lacrosse entry in the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame. DID YOU KNOW: Bucknell has 50,000 alumni living in every state and nearly 100 countries.

Rodney Brown ’83Brown was a four-year starter, playing both midfield and defense during a terrific career that saw him become Bucknell’s third Division I All-American. He was a First Team All-East Coast Conference defenseman in 1982, then as a senior he moved to midfield and tallied 30 goals and 15 assists, repeating as a first team pick and earning an honorable mention All-America nod as well.

Hugh Donovan ’96Donovan captained the 1996 Bison squad that finished a perfect 12-0, captured the Patriot League title and earned a No. 9 national ranking. Donovan was named PL Defensive Player of the Year that season, and he is considered to be one of the top defensemen ever to wear the Orange & Blue. He earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in after helping the Bison rank No. 1 in the nation in scoring defense (6.25).

the 2013 Bison Brawl Team Lacrosse Camp. Thirty top-tier high school and club lacrosse teams will be showcased for college coaches and scouts. Conveniently held on the campus of Bucknell University, the adidas Bison Brawl Team La-crosse Camp provides the ultimate team competition, multiple synthetic turf fields, illuminated stadium venue, ample parking, dormitory facilities, hotels, hospitality and exposure to the college admissions and athletic recruitment process — not specific to Bucknell University.

The camp is held on Bucknell University’s 450-acre campus in the heart of the beautiful Susquehanna River Valley in Lewisburg, Pa. Bucknell’s campus is located adjacent to Rt. 15, just six miles south of I-80 and 55 miles north of Harrisburg, Pa.

Campers compete in the 13,100-seat Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. With its recently-installed FieldTurf, it is one of the finest venues in all of college lacrosse. The camp also utilizes the newly renovated West Fields complex, which also offers a first-class atmosphere for lacrosse at any level.

The camp provides state-of-the-art facilities and accommodations for a competitive lacrosse atmosphere. All teams will have a chance to work on team concepts and various aspects of team play as the week progresses. Camp staff and referees help provide the most realistic, game-like experience pos-sible. This is a unique chance to grow and learn as a team while continuing to develop all the important individual skills necessary to play at the college level.

be sure that our program has a positive image on campus, in the community and in the lacrosse world. It is important to me that our student-athletes give back to the University, the community, and to the sport they love, and that these three entities are better with Bucknell Lacrosse than without.

That said, I am proud to announce this year’s Community Service Plan. Our goal is to contribute 24 hours of community ser-vice per team member. That’s 42 student-athletes x 24 hours each = over 1,000 hours! We will be contributing to many, many causes again this year. The events and non-profit organizations that we will be supporting this year are as follows:

A Bison Never Forgets – The brainchild of 2011 graduates John Collett and Ryan Klipstein, Bison Lax raises funds to send care packages to former college lacrosse players now serving overseas in the armed forces. Collett and Klipstein earned the 2010 Patriot League Sportsmanship Award for their efforts.

Americans Supporting Americans – Our participation in this program has caught national attention and has sparked a number of universities, programs, churches, classrooms, etc., to join. We were the first university and certainly the first athletic team to participate in this wonderful program that supports U.S. troops overseas.

Best Buddies – One or two players each year enroll in the Best Buddies program, where they have an opportunity to build a relationship with a physically or mentally handicapped person in our area.

Harvest Soup Kitchen – Team members will help serve at various times.Ronald McDonald House – “Grab a Tab” fundraising program.Colleges against Cancer – Team took part in a 5K run on campus.AIDS Walk – Team took part in a 1-hour AIDS walk in Gerhard Fieldhouse.Day Care – Visit Sunflower Day Care facility and read to young children.Adopt-A-Highway – Clean up highway along Stein Lane in Lewisburg.
