• Invest in world class transit capital projects-up to 2/3 of total
capital cost to: – Increase transit ridership and mode share – Reduce traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions – Provide greater accessibility for all trips
– Projects should advance Provincial Building Alberta Plan, Land Use Framework and Climate Change Strategy, and assist in providing strong economic foundation
Program Purpose and Objectives

• Transit Capital Projects started after 2012
• Design and construction of bus, BRT, commuter rail and LRT systems
• Purchase of buses and LRT vehicles and key equipment components such as real time displays, fareboxes etc., traction power-vehicles can be for replacement or new service
• Design and construction of bus/LRT storage/maintenance facilities, including land
• Purchase of shelters, ITS, fareboxes and other transit equipment
• Design and construction of park and ride and transit exchange facilities
• Design and construction of commuter rail systems
• Complete Applications Due before End of November, 2104

• BVRTSC- vehicles for start-up of Banff-Canmore service-$0.9 million-$0.45 million for each for Canmore and Banff

• There are no funding agreements in place for any of these projects
• The GreenTRIP funding commitment to the Town continues until the Town indicates it will not proceed with the projects or the department withdraws the approval, potentially with the support/agreement of the CRP
• If the projects are not to proceed, then the $6.1M funding commitment would be available to the CRP as part of their $800M allotment.
