SITE PH041-1: HWY 986:01, DAISHOWA EAST HILL

(STATION 12+000 SITE 5 GULLY AND DITCH) 1. OBSERVATIONS

1.1 Field Program and Instrumentation Status

Two slope inclinometers (SI-1 and SI-2) were read at the Hwy 986:01 Daishowa East Hill site on September 28, 2017 by Mr. Niraj Regmi, G.I.T. and Mr. Aldrin Pascua, both of Thurber Engineering Ltd.

The SIs were read using two RST Digital Inclinometer probes with 2 ft. wheelbases and RST Pocket PC readouts. Inclinometer reading depths were defined as per cable markings with respect to the top of the inclinometer casing.

2. INTERPRETATION

2.1 General

SI plots with A and B directions are presented in Section D and are summarized below. Where movement has been recorded, the resultant plot (X direction, if applicable) and a rate of movement have also been provided.

2.2 Zones of Movement

A potential zone of movement was observed in SI-1 over 4.9 m to 7.4 m depth since the spring of 2017 readings. This zone is included in Table PN041-1-1 below. A movement rate plot has also been included in section D.

The zone of movement that was previously reported in SI-2 over 0.1 m to 2.5 m depth has not shown a consistent trend of movement over the past ten years and will not be included in future reports.

Zones of movement are summarized in Table PH041-1-1 at the end of this report. This table also provides a historical account of the total movement, the depth of movement and the maximum rate of movement that has occurred at this site since the initialization of the slope inclinometers.

2.3 Interpretation of Monitoring Results

Slope inclinometer SI-1 showed current rates of movement of 1.3 mm/yr over 0.1 m to 1.9 m depth, 0.3 mm/yr over 1.9 m to 4.9 m depth, no discernible movement over 4.9 m to 7.4 m depth and 0.4 mm/yr over 7.4 m to 8.6 m depth.

Slope inclinometer SI-2 registered no discernible movement over 0.1 m to 2.5 m depth and a rate of movement 0.9 mm/yr over 13.5 m to 14.7 m depth.

3. RECOMMENDATIONS

3.1 Future Work

The SIs should be read again during the spring of 2018 program.

3.2 Instrumentation Repairs

No instrumentation repairs are required at this time.
