OLICE are on a manhunt for four prisoners who escaped from lawful custody at Pilgrim's Rest P

police cells on 27 January 2013.The details of the fugitives are as follows: Norman Mametsa (25) arrested for possession of possible gold dust. Julias Mathebula (19), a Mozambican national, for theft of copper cables and being in the country illegally.Otto Shakwane (25) for housebreaking and theft.Thabo Mokoena (36) for housebreaking and theft. The accused forced open the roof on the hallway of the cells and escaped. An internal probe is underway to determine the circumstances which led to the getaway.We urge any person with information that could lead to the re-arrest of these escapees to contact Captain Evans Mzimba at 082 556 5311 or 013 768 1122.

THE Provincial Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (PROVJOINTS) in Mpumalanga is pleased with the manner in which the police and other role players have performed their duties in an integrated and coordinated manner to date. This has been evident during the four matches already held in Mpumalanga. All role players were involved in accordance with the set standards and planning by the Provjoints. There are some villains who thought they could use the AFCON as a window to commit crime but they had to think again. Three people were arrested during the week for drugs and dagga respectively and all were remanded in custody.Yesterday, 26 January 2013, the men and women in blue, responsible for city security as part of Orange AFCON 2013 duties, were executing stop and search operations when they stopped and searched a 63 year old man near Nelspruit City. The police found him in possession of 402 sachets of dagga valued at R2 010 and he was duly arrested.

In a separate incident, two suspects aged between 29 and 54 years, were also arrested on 24 January 2013, and are due to appear at the Lydenburg Magistrate's Court tomorrow, 28 January 2013, for possession and dealing in drugs respectively. They were arrested after the K9 Unit acted swiftly on information received from the Provincial Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (Provjoints) in Mpumalanga, about drugs that were kept in certain houses at Mashishing Location in Lydenburg. Upon searching the houses, police found seven cocaine rocks worth R1 050 at the 54 year old man's house. At the other man's house they found 50 cocaine rocks, three heroin rocks and nine ecstasy tablets worth R15 500. A probe by the police further revealed that the suspects intended to sell the drugs at Nelspruit during the AFCON games. The Provjoints congratulates the dedicated members on a job well done. The high visibility of our members performing duties to safeguard citizens and visitors during the AFCON 2013 is continuing to pay off.

LYDENBURG sal nooit weer dieselfde wees nie. n Nuwe besigheid Panorama Outdoor het di week hulle reuse elektroniese inligtingsbord op die hoek van Jansen en Viljoenstraat in werking gestel en die reaksie van mense wissel van pragtig, wonderlik, tot awesome!Besigheidsprinsipaal en vennoot, Rean Louw, het met groot moeite en teen groot koste die bord direk uit China ingevoer en opgerig. Die personeel van G.A. Pienaar boekhouers, Highlands Panorama Nuus en IT@Large rekenaardienste, was vanaf voor Kersfees hard aan die werk om alles uitgesorteer te kry. Daar was aanvanklike tandekry probleme en party dae het ons met drie rekenaars, n tablet met kamera en Skype, direk met die Chinese verskaffers gewerk om alles uit te sorteer. Dit was nogal iets om vyf van ons voor die rekenaars te h, met minstens drie Chinese wat soos vinke onder mekaar op Skype (in Chinees) kwetter, terwyl hulle direk uit China, via die Internet op ons hoofraam werk, en terwyl ons sit en toekyk hoe hulle programme laai en met die muiswyser op die rekenaarskerm onder hulle beheer items klik. Scary.Die bord is sedert Vrydagaand op lyn en ons vertoon tans n kort video van Samsung en n hele aantal toetslogos en enkele van die advertensies wat gereeld in die koerant veskyn. Hierdie is net sogenaamde teasers

en sal vervang word met betaalde advertensies. Elektroniese media is uitstekend om bv. n logo en kontaknommer te vertoon en dit gereeld te flits, maar advertensies met baie teks en detail is minder effektief, aangesien die verbyganger nie genoeg tyd het om alles te lees nie en die resolusie fyner skrif op so n groot skaal swak vertoon.Ons is van mening dat die inligtingsbord uitstekend sal werk om die aandag op jou besigheid te vestig. Die voordeel is dat jy n kort video van jou produk in werking kan wys.Tans word 30 sekondes per uur bemark. Dit wil lyk asof 30 sekondes dalk te lank kan wees en voornemende klinte kan verkies om dit op te deel in twee flitse van 15 sekondes of drie flitse van 10 sekondes elk. Laasgenoemde blyk baie effektief te wees. Dit laat n besigheid toe om drie keer per uur, 24 uur, 7 dae n week, vir n hele maand te adverteer, (byna 2 200 verskynings) teen een billike tarief. Nie lank nie dan is jou hele boonste-helfte amper in 'n spasma. 'n Masering sal help, maar wie het nou tyd voor werk vir so iets. En om dan in die kar te klim, wat nog te s van aantrek is onmoontlik. Dis dan wanneer jy party kledingstukke 'n ruskans gee vir die dag.Heelwat later as die pyn vervaag het raak jy rustig. Dan is die hele kaboedel heel amusant en wonder jy waaroor jy so gekla het. Veral as die dokter se gawe inspuiting sy verlam-werk begin doen. Hierby staan ek egter: Broerders en suster 'n pyn in die nek is iets om mee rekening te hou. Al is dit net om flaminke en kameelperde voor jou geestesoog te sien.

Na n uur van sweet en ene konsentrasie stap jonge heer Piet Botha, n total buitestaander by MTN in. Hy besef onmiddellik Jacques se batterye word pap en nou sal hy maar moet ingryp en help. Na n halfuur stap ek na my motor met n bre glimlag vol selfvertroue en moet soveel stof tot dankbaarheid.

Xstrata Lydenburg donated school uniforms to orphans and vulnerable children from local schools in partnership with Uzenzela Wena Orphanage, Lesodi Primary, Marambane Primary, Sizo Primary, Kellysville Primary, Skhila Secondary and Mashishing Secondary schools on 9 January 2013. The project started in January 2012 and it will continue as need is growing. The purpose is to ensure that orphans and the vulnerable feel and look the same as other children when they go to school. We believe that will boost their confidence as young people.

Xstrata Lydenburghelps thecommunity

THE Competition Tribunal on Tuesday gave the green light to the proposed takeover of global miner Xstrata by commodities trader Glencore. However, the tribunal attached some conditions to the $33bn deal to limit the merger's impact on job losses in the crucial mining sector. One of the conditions stipulates that job losses among skilled workers be limited to a maximum of 80 workers, the tribunal said in a statement. The job loss conditions do not include voluntary leave or early retirement packages and would also not apply to workers who refuse to be redeployed. The approval of the merger in South Africa went through smoothly after power utility

Green light for Xstrata, Glencore mergerEskom withdrew its objections last week, following an agreement with Glencore that would limit the impact of the merger on its coal supplies. The utility relies on coal-fired plants to generate 85% of the electricity that powers South Africa and was keen to ensure the merger did not hamper its ability to obtain timely, sufficient and competitively priced coal. Glencore is still waiting for the go-ahead for the deal from antitrust authorities in China, having already received a conditional approval from European regulators. Last Friday Glencore pushed back the date for completion of the long-awaited tie-up to March 15, citing lengthy regulatory processes in South Africa and China.

The attendance register contains 66 names.Residents, non-residents and businesses should have the opportunity of registering as Interested and / or affected parties in respect of both the NEMA and WUL applications.The following concerns were raised: In respect of the NEMA application; ELM does not have in place a Water Services Plan; The sewage treatment plant is already not sufficient to meet the needs of Dullstroom & Sakhelwe; The municipal refuse site is not licensed and should not accept additional refuse; Other developments have been told they cannot use the site; These municipal services / facilities must be brought up to legislated standards in terms of NEMA before any additional developments are permitted to use them; In respect of the

Water Use Licence application; There is insufficient 'safe yield capacity' in the Crocodile River to sustain Dullstroom / Sakhelwe's future water requirements - possibly from as early as 2014; The Dullstroom Water Treatment Plant is currently over-capacity to meet EXISTING requirements; Water restrictions have been imposed by the municipality for TWO YEARS due to their concerns about water availability; Sub-division of properties have been prohibited for several years due to water availability concerns and this has a potentially significant impact on more local employment; The Water Services Authority must define and implement a holistic Water Services Plan for Dullstroom / Sakhelwe; Other - already approved developments, must be taken into consideration when granting a licence; Potential pollution to the Crocodile River and Town Dams should there be a failure in this development's waste disposal systems. In view of the above, they are hoping that many members of the Dullstroom community will register as IAP's. Die oggend is 'n eksamen afgel aangaande motorsport rels as ook 'n fiksheidstoets wat hy loshande gewen het. Professionele renjaers en nasionale kampioene, Devin & Justin Robertson, het die Top 10 vir 'n paar 'hot-laps' gevat in 'n BMW M3 en Renault Megane RS Sport, om hulle 'n idee te gee van wat verwag word en ook om die adrenalien behoorlik te laat pomp. Daarna is 'n gemodifieerde Klas C Renault Sandero aan elke deelnemer se genade oorgelaat om te wys of hul het wat dit vat om as die 'Ultimate Racing Driver' gekroon te word. Na die Top 3 aangekondig is, het dit liggies begin ren, wat 'n groot uitdaging was om steeds so vining as moontlik te wees sonder om van die baan af te gly! Conrad het die vinnigste tyd vir die dag aangeteken trwyl hy stadiger motors verby gesteek het, asook 3 rondtes na mekaar wat slegs 0.019 sekondes verskil het van stadigste tot vinnigste indrukwekkend as mens in ag neem die baan is 4.3 km lank! GREAT Wall Motors' Haval Dakar Team finished the 2013 Dakar Rally in sixth overall position on 20 January 2013 in Santiago, Chile, repeating its solid performance of 2012.Seasoned drivers Carlos Sousa and Zhou Yong once again headed up the two GWM Haval H5 racing SUVs, with Sousa claiming the sixth overall position, and Yong equalling his best Dakar performance by finishing 19th overall. Sousa finished the 14th and final stage in eighth place in a time of 01:47:29, whilst Yong was 12th to arrive in Santiago in a time of 01:50:29.This year only marked GWM's fourth ever participation in the Dakar Rally, making its feat even more significant. The 14-stage Dakar Rally which kicked off in Lima, Peru on 5 January 2013, was won by previous winner Stphane Peterhansel (MINI) with Giniel de Villiers (Toyota) in second and Leonid Novitskiy (MINI) in third place. GWM's Carlos Sousa, who has finished in the top 10 eleven times, had a consistent rally and apart from technical difficulties during Stage 3, maintained a position amongst the frontrunners throughout. Breaking with tradition by featuring a dune stage early on, the 2013 Dakar Rally spanned more than 8 000 km over three South American countries: Peru, Argentina and Chile.Zhou Yong displayed a solid performance every day, finishing 10th twice during the second half of the rally. Kellysville Interhuis reuse suksesn GESONDE gees huisves n gesonde liggaam. Kellysville Primere skool het Interhuis op 25 Januarie gehou. Dit was n heerlike warm somersdag en die atlete het voluit hulle uiterste bes gedoen om die wedlope met sukses te voltooi. Die Gemsbok en Springbok spanne het mekaar die stryd aanges. Baie geluk aan die Springbokke met hulle oorwinning. Die atlete is vuur en vlam besig om voor te berei vir die volgende atletiekbyeenkoms. Ons sien uit na n opwindende seisoen. Die volgende atletiekbyeenkoms is op 1 Februarie op Lydenburg Laerskool se atletiekbaan. Baie dankie vir hulle bereidwilligheid dat die primere skool die fasiliteite kan gebruik.
