Anusmaran Enthusiastic participation from over 8000 IIMB alumni in 19 cities across the world, that's Anusmaran 2014 for you. Every year, since 2002, Anusmaran has come to spell excitement for IIMB alumni. This is the one and the only event that brings the alumni together, irrespective of their batches and courses. There's nostalgia and networking in great measure. Kuwait and Paris saw their inaugural edition of Anusmaran this year apart from the usual international cities of Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, London, Sydney, NYC and other cities in USA. Earlier, Anusmaran was held on one single day in the month of May. But over the years the alumni connect of IIMB has grown tremendously - from 5 alumni chapters to 15. This has made the event bigger than ever before.

First Stride, being an Alumni interaction event, is a series of talks focusing on different sectors helping students to understand the domain better as a precursor to Summer

Placements.

MARKETING (2nd AUG ’14) Mr. Jidesh Haridas, Head Marketing at Zansaar.com, from the PGP Batch of 2008 was the speaker of the day. He enthusiastically spoke about various facets of the marketing profile starting with his internship experience. The discussion further proceeded to encompass the various aspects of summer placements including the sector choice to evaluating the company and fitting into the culture of the company.

IT (12th OCT ’14) Mr. Vivek Darera, Microsoft, from the PGP Batch of 2013, conducted the session. He briefed about the opportunities in the Summers across domains. He further delved deeper into various functions, one will be working in, during a career in Information Technology- Product Management, Program Management, Business Development, IT consulting or as a VC.

FINANCE (2nd OCT ’14) Mr. Amit Kumar, Goldman Sachs, from the PGP Batch of 2013, presided the session. The alumnus spoke about various domains in the Finance Sector: Markets, IBD and Private Equity. He debunked the myth that finance is a hard nut to crack for those without a prior experience in Finance. He concluded emphasizing that, with respect to Finance Sector a clear idea of the role to be chosen is very essential for the Summer process.

CXOS @ IIMB The closing event of Eximius 2014 was ‘CXOs @ IIMB’ organized by the Student Alumni Committee. The event had three of our illustrious alumni join us on campus, Mr. Rajiv Srivatsa from the batch of 2004 - COO and Co-Founder of Urban Ladder, Mr. K. Srinivas from the batch of 1987 – MD CEO of BTI Payments Pvt Ltd, and Ms. Malavika Harita from the batch of 1982 – CEO and Founder of Saatchi and Saatchi Focus Network. The session started with Mr. Rajiv Srivatsa’s talk on how we should approach our time here at IIMB and ended his talk by telling us that that is what IIMB is all about, Impact, Internet, Magic and Balance. Mr. K. Srinivas spoke about the importance of building diverse experiences while making sure we enjoy what we do. The concluding talk at CXO’s at IIMB was by Ms. Malavika Harita. Her speech was certainly unlike anything the audience was expecting. She gave a presentation on ’30 ways to be a super person. Or, just be yourself.’ On the whole it was a riveting session and all three speakers had the complete attention of the audience. For those who attended, it was an incredible opportunity to hear from some of IIMB’s best and brightest, and they all walked away with some insight on how they should approach their future.

Twaran’14 witnessed an enthusiastic participation from close to 300 IIMB alumni, students, and professors. The run was organized by Sports Council in association with Student Alumni Committee and Vikasana to raise funds for the Indian blind cricket team. The run had a 5km marathon and a 10 km marathon and all the participants persevered till the finish line. Shaurya’14, the student vs. alumni sports fest was launched on the same day by our alumni Mr.Sujoyjeet Mondal (Batch of 2000).

It was a privilege to host Mr. Kavindra Mishra, from the PGP batch of 1999, for the first ‘Coffee with Alumni’ session. Mr. Mishra is the CEO of Pepe Jeans, India. He gave the audience an insight into some of the emerging sectors of current times and an overview of the Retail industry. It was a pretty interesting session for those who wish to explore what lies beyond the marketing and financial concepts! For the second session of CWA, we had Mr. Ajay Bhatia from PGP class of 2011. Just before the summer placements, Mr. Ajay shed some light in the sales and marketing domain to the PGP1 students. He also shared his experience while going through the tedious summer placement process and encouraged students to follow their interests. We had Mr. Prejith Narayan, a PGP 2014 graduate as the speaker for the third session. The session broke all myths and inaccurate perceptions of general management and the students benefited from an array of techniques that would guide them in a typical selection process of a company recruiting for general management roles.
