Alveston Village Despatch October - November 2017 Dear Villagers. Thanks to everyone who attended the Great British Quiz Night. Special thanks to our resident quiz master,Tony Scott, who provided us with an excellent and challenging quiz. Twenty teams competed for the pride of the village; well done to Team Carry On Quizzing who achieved a stupendous score of 95! Thanks to all the AVA committee members and other volunteers who made the evening a success. The village now has an Automated Electronic Defibrillator purchased by funds raised. lt is located at the entrance to the Malt House in a yellow security cabinet. It is intended to provide potentially life saving assistance for anyone suffering a cardiac emergency. The AED is registered with the Ambulance Service. In the case of an emergency you should dial 999 and the Ambulance Service will give the caller the access code for the security box. When the device is turned on instructions are spoken by the unit regarding its effective use. The AVA may arrange for first responder training (which includes familiarisation training for our AED) depending on level of interest/costs. If you would like to be included please email [email protected]. Renovation work has begun on the village phone box. It will soon have its smart red top coat in time for winter. Regards, Chris Fox, AVA Chair HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR!
