Quarterly Lesson Study Guide “The Book of James”

As we enter into the sanctuary,

remember we are entering into the presence of God.

Let us REVERENCE HIM

as we WORSHIP together in LOVE and in TRUTH.

foundational Who, or what, is the Antichrist?

Evil alliance, or sinister

individual? Some say his

appearance is still in the future.

Others say he appeared long ago

in the days of ancient Rome. But the Bible

indicates that he is alive today! The Bible

prophecies teach this antichrist power will

play a crucial role in the final events of earth's

history. Do you know who he is? Are you

sure? You need to be, for you can't understand

last-day events until you understand this evil

power. Be prepared for one of the most intri-

guing Study Guides yet!

1. As the chapter begins, Daniel sees four

beasts coming up out of the sea. In prophe-

cy, what does a beast represent? What does

the sea represent?

"The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom

upon the earth." Daniel 7:23. "The waters ...

are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and

tongues." Revelation 17:15.

Answer: Beasts represent kingdoms or na-

tions. Water represents multitudes of people or

large populations.

2. The four beasts of Daniel 7 represent the

four world kingdoms (verses 17, 18).

Babylon, the first kingdom (Daniel 2:38,

39), is represented as a lion in Daniel 7:4.

(See also Jeremiah 4:7 50:17, 43, 44 for

Babylon pictured as a lion elsewhere.) What

do the "eagle's wings" mean? What do the

"four winds" of verse 2 represent?

"The Lord shall bring a nation against

thee ... as swift as the eagle flieth."

Deuteronomy 28:49.

"Thus saith the Lord of hosts, ... a great whirl-

wind shall be raised up from the coasts of the

earth. And the slain of the Lord shall be at that

day from one end of the earth even unto the

other end of the earth." Jeremiah 25:32, 33.

Answer: The wings of eagles represent

speed. (See also Jeremiah 4:13; Habakkuk

1:6-9.) Winds represent strife, commotion, and

destruction. (See also Revelation 7:1-3.)

3. What kingdom does the bear represent

(Daniel 7:5)? What do the three ribs in its

mouth symbolize?

Answer: Read Daniel 8. Notice that the

beasts in chapter 8 parallel those in chapter

7. Daniel 8:20 specifically names Medo-Persia

as the kingdom that precedes the rough goat,

or Greece, of verse 21. It is the second world

kingdom, the same power as the bear of

Daniel 7. The empire was made up of two

groups of people.

Lesson #15

To transform the life of every

individual within our community

and to prepare them for the soon

coming of Jesus Christ.

Vision

To enlarge our current structure,

making it the center for ministries,

where all men, women and children

can come to hear the Word of God,

experience the power and love of

Jesus Christ, and be trained to

evangelize and transform lives for

the Kingdom of God.

Mission

Hold Fast

Hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Rev. 3:11

Decisions may be made in a moment that fix one's condition forever. . . .

But remember, it would take the work of a lifetime to recover what a

moment of yielding to temptation and thoughtlessness throws away. . . .

By a momentary act of will you may place yourself in the power of

Satan, but it will require more than a momentary act of will to break his

fetters and reach for a higher, holier life. The purpose may be formed, the

work begun, but its accomplishment will require toil, time, and

perseverance,

patience, and sacrifice. The man who deliberately wanders from God in the

full blaze of light will find, when he wishes to set his face to return, that

briars and thorns have grown up in his path, and he must not be surprised or

discouraged if he is compelled to travel long with torn and bleeding feet.

The most fearful and most to be dreaded evidence of man's fall from a better

state is the fact that it costs so much to get back. The way of return can be

gained only by hard fighting, inch by inch, every hour. . . .

Those who win heaven will put forth their noblest efforts and will labor with

all long-suffering, that they may reap the fruit of toil. There is a hand that

will open wide the gates of Paradise to those who have stood the test of

temptation and kept a good conscience by giving up the world, its honors, its

applause, for the love of Christ, thus confessing Him before men and waiting

with all patience for Him to confess them before His Father and the holy

angels.

Keep the conscience tender, that you may hear the faintest whisper of the

voice that spake as never man spake. From My Life Today - Page 327

REVELATION 14:6-7

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the

everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell upon the earth,

and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue and people, saying

with a loud voice, fear God and give glory to Him: for the hour of His judgment is come; and worship Him that made heaven, and

earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

PSALM 95:6-7 O come let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the

Lord our Maker. For He is our God: and we are the people of His

pasture, and the sheep of His hand.

Food for thought:

“Faith is putting all your eggs in God’s basket,

then counting your blessings before they hatch.”

In the Master's Service

"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much." Luke 16:10.

Take these steps for your home

Many people prefer to remain indoors in the

winter, but staying inside is no guarantee of

safety. Take these steps to keep your home safe

and warm during the winter months.

Winterize your home.

Install weather stripping, insulation, and

storm windows.

Insulate water lines that run along exterior

walls.

Clean out gutters and repair roof leaks.

Check your heating systems.

Have your heating system serviced

professionally to make sure that it is clean,

working properly and ventilated to the outside.

Inspect and clean fireplaces and chimneys.

Install a smoke detector.

Test batteries monthly.

Have a safe alternate heating source and

alternate fuels available.

Prevent carbon monoxide (CO) emergencies.

Install a CO detector to alert you of the presence

of the deadly, odorless, colorless gas.

Check batteries regularly.

Learn symptoms of CO poisoning:

headaches, nausea, and disorientation.

of Healthy Living

Art Although winter comes

as no surprise, many of

us are not ready for its

arrival. If you are

prepared for the hazards

of winter, you will be

more likely to stay safe

and healthy when

temperatures start to fall.

(Continued next Sabbath)
