Kira Simpson has been
undertaking her workplacement at the Big Cat
Sanctuary
I am having a great time
at the Big Cat Sanctuary,
and really enjoy working
with the team.
A typical day starts with
cleaning out the animal
areas. We have had some
new French cats come in,
and had to move some of
the cats around which has
made this difficult as they
do not cooperate. The link between college
and working here has
been very good. When
an animal dies, I can
relate to certain modules
I have done, such as the
respiratory system. Also
with sick animals, I have
a better understanding of
the basics. Bing, one of the
Lamas, got a cyst on his leg
and I learnt how to bathe
cysts at college so I could
carry the work out in the
Sanctuary.
