Local business, Tuxego of Clifton Park is proudly celebrating its 20th anniversary in business. August 1st, 1991, twenty three year old Dawn Vavala walked in to the Tuxego, located at 1505 Route 9, and never looked back. After 20 successful years, she still specializes in renting formal wear for special occasions such as weddings, proms, and charity events.
Tuxego also sells hospitality wear such as tuxedo shirts, vests and bow ties, and aprons. Much of the success of the store stems from exceptional customer service and a genuine sense of caring about the end product. “It is very important to us that every customer, from the young man attending his 1st prom, to the groom about to get married, to the father of the bride, receives exactly what was ordered and ts like it was made for him.” said Vavala.
“I have seen many changes over the years. When I rst started, colored cummerbunds and bow ties were all the fashion, followed by half back vests and bow ties.” Now, we have progressed to full back vests and long ties”, she says
Tuxedos themselves have remained relatively the same. Trendy styles such as long jackets, pinstripes, collarless jackets, and short jackets will always come and go, but the classic 1 or 2 button notch collared tuxedo will never go out of style.
Tuxego of Clifton Park plays an active part in the community. Dawn is a charter member of the Twin Bridges Rotary Club and a past president. They have also sponsored many charity events such as Dancing in the Woods to bene t Albany Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital and Hannah’s Hope and Love Ball. You can visit their website, www.UpstateTuxego.com to view their latest styles and like them on Facebook: www.facebook/upstatetuxego.
