Early in the week, Scitech presented their ‘Bubbles’ and ‘Element of Surprise’ shows. On Wednesday and Thursday, students took part in free Water Corporation incursions about water conservation. Some students were lucky to meet visitors from both the Department of Water and the Water Corporation, who were impressed with our students’ knowledge of water sources and ideas about saving water. Friday was the blue dress up day for the Angkor Project, which raised $371.95. A big thank you to all the students who entered the poster competition, the entries were amazing! Prizes were awarded to the following students; Kindy Harper PP Blake Yr 1 Cara Yr 2 Milly Yr 3 Riya Yr 4 Rui Yr 5 Sara-Amina Yr 6 Isabelle Year 6 camp Last Thursday I visited the Year 6’s at camp. It was lovely to see how happy they were and how excitedly they told me about the awesome activities they had been doing. I was also very happy to hear from the staff that all students were behaving and working well together. Camp is an important time for our Year 6’s to enjoy each other’s company, learn new skills and make wonderful memories. I would like to thank Mrs Willox, Mrs Petkoff and Mr McLennan for taking our students on camp. This is a huge responsibility, takes a lot of planning and is very tiring. THANK YOU. Kindy obstacle-a-thon Our kindy students participated in their obstacle-a-thon last week to promote physical activity and raise money for their end of year gifts. Thanks to all the parents who came along to support the students, and congratulations to the students on getting through so many laps! School Board The meeting held on Tuesday 18 October involved the presentation of the 2017 School Voluntary Contributions and Charges and Personal Items List. The School Board discussed the costs and approved the charges for 2017. A letter to parents will be coming home soon with this information along with the Personal Items Lists for 2017. School Uniform After consultation with the school community through the P&C, staff and the School Board, it was decided to examine possible uniform variations. A P&C committee was formed to investigate uniform options, suppliers and costs. This information was presented to the School Board at the last meeting and discussed. The School Board approved a change to our school uniform and supplier beginning in 2017. Our incoming Kindergarten students, Pre primary and Year 1 students will be expected to purchase the new uniform for 2017. For other year levels, there will be a phase -in period where the current and new uniforms may be worn to school and we are expecting that within 18 months, most students will have purchased the new uniform. The new uniform will be on display in the front office soon, and order forms will also be available. Janice Cuculoska—Principal Conjunctivitis and Hayfever With the turn of seasons, many students are suffering hayfever and suffer itchy eyes and noses. If your child does suffer hayfever, and uses medication to control the symptoms, you can leave medication at school with a medical form to outline dosage. Please also be aware that there have been several cases of conjunctivitis amongst students recently. As this is a highly communicable disease, students are not to attend school whilst there is still discharge from the eye/s. Once treatment has begun and there is no discharge, students can return to school.
