    Margaret stated that it is typical for the Sophomores to eat lunch in tbe cafeteria since theycan notdrive. She stated that: frommathclass shewalked withJaderia Tollafero(sic / female) tothe lockerofDeeea Petersoa(sic),Denea's lockerIS located inthe back hallarea.Margaret stared that she and Iaderia 'then went to their lockets, which are located at the top of the stairsnear the Library Margaret esrtmares that the time wasabout 11.10or 11:15 a.m, bynow, Shebelievesthat she did get intothe cafeteria before II 15a.m.MargaretSlated that sheand Jaderia walkeddown the ,tain!and into the careteria, Shestated that theywent to their typical table near the food tine identified as uAAA of EBB" (in the FBI evidencediagram). Margaret stated that "some kid camein thedoors nearthe reachers lounge yelling, "getour, getdown'". Shestatedthar"Mr. Sanders camein and yelled 'get down' too". She statedthat she did not know whom this person (Student) was thatwas yelling.Margaret stated that she heard "a shot and new that it was real" so that she ran into the "bathroom"near theeast end of the kitchenand theauditorium. ShestatedthaIshe st.yed in thebathroomforabout"ooe minute"withseveralotherstudents.of whichshe cannotremember. SheStated that shethought the"shots werecomingfrom the Commonsare." She stated thatshe thenleft the bathroomand went to the auditorium with a "bunch of students and Y1r Andreas. the choir teacher" She statedthat theywere all in the centerof the auditorium for about "mree to five minutes".Margaretstated thatmore shots were fired from "tne doors", butshe is not sure "what doors".     Dateof 1f'lll.tSription 5/26f99Sarah Jean CAIN, DOB 12/17/82 was interviewed a t herresidence, 6253 W. caley Ave., Lit t le ton, Colorado, on May 11,1999 ata approximately 10:00 AM. She was advised of the personaland professional identity of the writer and the purpose of theinterview. CAIN advised that she had spoken with her parents a tthe writer 's request regarding the in ter view, but tha t they werenot a t the residence and would be arriving shor t ly . CAIN advisedthat it was a l l r ight with her p are nts i f the interview was begunbefore they were present.CAIN sta ted that she is a sophomore a t columbine HighSchool and has "A" lunch period. On April 20, 1999, she enteredthe cafeteria af ter coming from science class . She brought herlunch on tha t day and sa t a t a table in the cafeteria . CAIN wasshown a copy of the cafeteria diagram, and ident if ied the tableshe sa t a t as being "LL" on the diagram. She advised tha t therewere approximately fiv e other students s it t in g a t the table withher . She specif ical ly recal led the following being present :Sarah HOLTON, AnnMarie PATRICCA, chr is t ina ROWER, and LauraVA.'lDERHAM .CAIN sta ted that a short time af te r she sa t down shesaw a number o f s tu den ts SUddenly stand up. CAIN in i t ia l lythought a f ight was breaking out, but then saw tha t a number of

    students s ta r ted climbing under the i r tables .CAIN looked in the direction of the windows on the westside of the cafeter ia , and observed what appeared to be a whitepuff of smoke. At the same time she heard someone shouting forpeople to run, and something about someone having a gun. CAINthought tha t the voice sounded l ike that of a male facultymember, and speculated tha t i t might have been Mr. Sanders. Shealso saw custodians running back and forth.CAIN heard several popping sounds whieh she describeda s sounding l ike firecrackers explOding. CAIN ran from thecafe ter ia up the s ta i rs to the upper level and then east down thehallway adjacent to the math wing. She exi t ted th e build ing via

    the east door by the math wing. and ran across Pierce Street toLeawood Park.

    CAIN sta ted that a female faculty member she was notfamiliar with was a t the park, and told everyone to hide behindt rees . CAIN sta ted tha t she was a t Leawood Park for about 5 to10 minutes before she went home.CAIN stated that sh e never saW the gunman, nor anyother unusual objects while in the cafeteria or running throughthe school. She did not recal l hearing any announcements a t theschool tha t morning.CAIN advised tha t she did not know Eric HARRIS or DylanKLEBOLD. She had seen individuals wearing dark t rench coats oncampus in the past , but had no t heard the name "Trench CoatMafia" u nti l a fte r the shooting a t CRS.CAIN's parents did not return prio r to completion ofthe br ie f interview. CAIN's mother called and spoke with SarahCAIN, Who advised her that the interview had been completed. Thewriter requested tha t sarah CAIN ask her i f she had any questionsfor the wri ter . She was shown a sketch of the cafe te r i a andwas asked i f she could reca l l which table she had been seated a t .She indica ted table "L" by circl ing it and by placing her i n i t i a l sthere . She advised tha t others a t her table included: Bri t tanyWeeden and Stephanie Duffy.

    She s ta ted tha t a t approximately 11: 15 a.m., someone beganyel l ing "Get down." She lo oked around and saw someone standing on atab le o r cha i r and she determined t ha t th i s person was who wasyel l ing. She thought i n i t i a l ly tha t th i s was e i ther a joke or tha tsome persons were f ight ing but then heard what sounded l ikegunshots. She sa id she could not t e l l where those were coming fromnor could she rememher the number of shots . She said tha t a f r iend

    of hers , Heather Rohets hegan t o cry and while she and Heather h i dunder a t a b l e , many of th e stu den ts began t o run up t h e s t a i r s . Shes t a t e d t h a t she got up and ran up the s t a i r s and thought she heardmore shooting hehind her i n t h e area of the Rehel Corner S t o r e . Shes a i d t h a t while she was going up the s t a i r s , she heard a very loudexplosion and f e l t the s t a i r s shake. She advised t h a t once u p s t a i r s ,she ran down a h a l l towards the science lab and observed a personlaying on t h e f l o o r i n t h e hallway. She s a i d t h i s person might havebeen Mr. Sanders but she was not sure. She s t a t e d t h a t she ended upi n a science room which she thought was t h a t of a t e a c h e r known t oher as Mr. Cash. She s a i d she l e f t t h a t room and went i n t o anotherroom occupied by n in ete en o th er stu de nts . She thought t h i s was Mr.F r e i z e n ' s room. She advised t h a t they remained i n t h i s room fo rapproximately f ou r hou rs, u n t i l SWAT o f f i c e r s came i n .

    J e n n i f e r s t a t e d t h a t she tho ught she saw Dylan Klebold standingouts ide t h e l i b r a r y . She s a i d he was wearing a hlack t rench cOat anda black cap, on backwards and t h a t he had long h a i r . She advisedt h a t she was acquainted with Eric H arris only i n t h a t he would o f t e nspend time hanging out a t the Rebel Corner and they wouldoccas ional ly t a l k about nothing in p a r t i c u l a r . She s a i d she had notseen Dylan o r Eric i n the days p r i o r t o t h i s i n c i d e n t and had notspoken t o Eric any tim e r e c e n t l y .

    Regarding her prev ious statement made on t h e day of t h i si n c i d e n t ; she advised t h a t the person she was r e f e r r i n g t o wasDylan. "They had explos ives ," had no b a s i s i n f a c t , but was anassumption made by J e n n i f e r . She advised t h a t the t ime she gave,12:30 should have been 11 :30 a.m. She had w r i t t e n t h a t "they s t a r t e dshoot a t the window." She was r e f e r r i n g t o when I'll'.'. Cash had beenplacing a t a b l e a g a i n s t the room' s door as a bar icade and a shote v i d e n t l y p e n e t r a t e d t h e d o o r ' s g l a s s window and went i n t o thet a b l e .

Police had previously interviewed her. Jenniferwas at school and in the cafeteria when the shooting incident began. Sherecalled sitting at a table in the cafeteria closest to the food line and next to awindow. She said that her table was in the right comer of the cafeteria.While she was sitting at the table she heard a lot of commotion and thenthought that somebody was fighting. She could not see anything, but couldremember all of the students saying to get down and hide. She did get on thefloor and hid for a few moments, then she heard gun shots. She saw herfriend Heather Wrabetz crying so she went to comfort her.Camacho saw other students running up the stairs, so she left the cafeteriaand run up the stairs and ran down the hall. She ran into a science room,Mr.Craft's room. She waited in the science room for about four hours, until shewas rescued by SWAT. She was escorted by police to Leawood Park andthen bussed to Leawood Elementary.She did not see the shooters; she only heard the shooting. She denied havingprior knowledge of this incident.Camacho did not know Klebold. She did know Eric Harris. She had talkedto him before in the cafeteria. Her conversation with him was about theirmutual dislike for jocks. She said that he never talked about killing ordestructive things.

    On 5118199, I responded to 7911 West Glasgow Place and met with Mary Campbell and her mother, RuthCampbell. Mary Campbell confirmed that she had been in the cafeteria when the incident began.

    Mary Campbell said that on 4/20/99, hermother had drivenher toColumbineHighSchool and that she hadarrived at approximately 0720hours. She saidher motherdropped her off at themain entranceby the office.She entered the maindoors and went to her locker,which is #1616, which is locatedby the gymnasium. Shesaidthat she thenvisitedwith some friends in different hallways of the school, and thenwent to her first hour,Foods& Cookingclass,which is taughtbyMs. Zarro Shesaid from first hour she went toher secondhourLanguageArts class,which is in themainmath hall. This class is taughtbyMrs.Bowhack. From thereshewent to her third hourScience class,which is on themain level in theSciencehall, taughtby Ms.Mosier, thenwentto her fourthhourKeyboardingclass,which is taughtbyMr. Sanders. Campbellsaid that at no timebetweenthese classesdid she go to her locker.

    Campbellsaid that fromher fourth hour keyboarding/typing classshewentdirectly to the "A" lunch. Shewedbothmaps of the commons area and identified table "L" as the table that she had beenseated at. She

    said that shewasseatedat the tablewith BrittanyWeeden.JenniferCamacho, Bryan Grande,Kern(fernale.Iastnameunknown), JoeyMarcott,andMike Gagre. She said thatwhen she arrivedin the commons,she wentrightto the table, placedherpack at the table, and thenwentto the servicelinewhereshepurchasednachoskiwi.Sheestimatedthat she arrived in thecommons at approximately 11:lZam, She saidthat at II :15shewas back at hertable and startedto eat. She said that she remembers eatingseveralchips and thennoticedstudents thatwerenear the windows, gettingdownunder tables. She said that at thatpoint she lookedout thewindowand sawoneof the gunmencomingdown the stairs outside of the buildingaroundthe cafeteria. She said that at the time shedidn't knowwho it was,but has since seenphotographs, andhas identifiedthis subject asDylanKlebold. Shefurtherdescribeshimas a whitemale, student age, wearinga black trenchcoat. She thoughtjeans or dark pants.She said that hewas very tall and skinny and waswearinga ball cap. She couldn't rememberthe color of thebaseballcap, but saidhe was wearing it with the bill in the properposition.She saidshe saw him cometo thebottomof the stairs, and said thathe had a gun inhis lefthand. She said that she could heargunshots, but didnot see this subject firing a gun, althoughhecould havebeen. She described the gun as being a longgun,

    possibly a rifle or shotgun. She said that she then got downon the floor and lost sight of this suspect. She saidthatwhile she was getting down, she looked across the cafeteriaandnoticed thatmost of the students had fled ineither the kitchen area or upstairs. She said that she, Brittany,Keni and Bryan, all stayed near the table and hadlied next to thewall. She said thatit was a short time after she'd lostsight of the suspect that he then appearedagain by the student entrance into the cafeteria nearthe stairs, She thought hemay have gone around the southsideof the cafeteria and come in through the student entrance, althoughshe did not see where he went or howhe'd gotten into the cafeteria, She said thathe thendisappeared and then a short time later, reappearedwith asecond suspect,whom she described as EricHarris,

    Campbell again did not know who EricHarris wasuntil after the incidentand had seen pictures ofHarris. Shealso had seen him in the yearbook, She described Harrisas a whitemale, shorter than the other suspect. She

    iughthewaswearing army pants, possibly armyboots,and a white shirt, She said that the second time thatshe sawHarris andKlebold, they came down the stairs and stoppedon the landing before coming totally intothe cafeteria, She said that, although she can't recall the exactconversation,Harris seemed to be orderingKlebold inwhatto do, She felt thatKlebold was doing thingsto try and impress Harris. She said that from theirposition on the landing of the stairwell, they began to shoot acrossthe cafeteria, towards the center of thecafeteria. She said that after they were shooting, theywalkedinto the cafeteriatowards the service line, Shesaid she couldn't be exactly sure of their path, as theywentnear the service lineover toward the kitchen, Shesaidoccasionallytheywould throw a pipe bomb intothe centerof the cafeteria. She said they then got in frontof the service lineand began shooting again towards the middleof the cafeteria, but now in a southerly directiontowards the exit doors, She said they threw severalmorepipebombs and then suddenly there was a largeexplosion and a large fireball. Campbell said that she could feel the heat from the fireball coming in herdirection,and she and the other students decided to run out the south door at that point.She said they ran out thesouth doors and then hid in the parking lot behind severalvehicles.

    Campbellsaid that therewas conversationbetweenHarrisand Klebold in the cafeteria, however shecouldn'trecall exactlywhat theywere saying. She did say that she heardone of themcommentingabout howmuch funtheywerehaving, and something to the effect"this is somuch fun", Campbellsaid that both suspectswerefiringweaponsand that there two distinctweaponsoundsas theywereshooting. She said she didn't actuallywatch the shooting, as she was trying to stay concealedin her position.

    Campbell said thatwhen she and the otherswerebythe cars, theywereevacuatedby a SWAT team,over afence and through the soccerfield; they were then driventoClement Park.

    Campbell describes her backpack as black in color, containing white foldersforher foodsclass, a pink folderanda purple binder, a white binder and assistantnotebook,schoollD andmiscellaneous pens andpencils.Campbellsaid that she was wearing purple shorts, had her hair in a Frenchbraid, and she was wearing herrunningshoes,as she had a trackmeet that afternoon,

    Campbellsaid that she'd never heard of the trenchcoatmafiauntil this incident. She said that she had seenDylanKlebold in the school on several occasionsbut didn't knowit was him until after the incident occurred.

    She said that she has had no problemswith anyonein the trenchcoatmafia and has heard of no other studentswho were havingproblems. She was alsounaware of anyonepickingon members of the trenchcoat mafia. Shesaid that she did see partof theRebel News Networkand did rememberseeing founrwenty (4:20), butdidn'tsay anything;but understood that 4:20 stood for the factthat it was NationalPot Smoking Day. Campbelldoeshave Internetaccess at home, but does not have an ICQaccount, and did not nor has not accessed anytrenchcoat mafia sites. Campbell estimated that she was in the cafeteria, fromthe beginning of the incidentuntil shewas evacuatedout to the cars, for approximately one hour. Campbell doesnot know anyonewith a doublepierced eyebrow. She has not heardof anystudentstalkingabout bombmaking, gun buyingor weapons, andammunitionacquisition, and she couldprovide no further information that might be helpful to the investigation.

    Campbellwas questioned about any possible third suspectbeing involvedwith the two, eitheractivelyor:by, and she said that she never saw or heard any conversation betweenthe two about a third suspect, and

    neverobserveda third suspect.

    Campbellalso stated that shehas an athletic lockernearthe gymnasium which contains allofher athleticgearand track equipment.

Peter advised that he was withJohn Owens; Joel ( last name unknown) and s everal sub ject s whose names hedid not know. Pete r s aid that John Owens would know the o the r sub ject snames and J oe l's la st name. Peter repcrted that he arrived in thec af ete ria a t about 11:lOAM. At this time he did not see anything l ike aduffel bag in the cafeteria, but be said that there was a large number ofback packs already on the floor.Peter said th at while he was eating the students s i t t ing in thenorth-west corner of the cafeteria, at tables identified as WW, VV, OU, SS,TT, YY, and XX began diving under the tables and acting l ike they were"swatting bees". Kristin Cardwell toleus that a friend ofhers, Dianna Scheffer, had driven her and Dianna to school on 04-20-99. She said that tl1eyarrived at the school at approXimately 0720 hours and that they entered through the main entrance. They wentto their lockers, which are located on the main hall on the left side directly south of the main entrance. She saidthat after they got to their lockers and obtained their property they met with some f riends in main hall way.Oeanelte Muselman, Jamie Amo, Robin earroccia, and Allison Bobb. She said that they talked with their mendsfor several minutes and then Kristin Cardwelilell to go to her first hour Spanish class. She said she walked to theclass with Patrick Caruso. She said that she then left her first class to go her second hour class of jewelry. Shesaid that the only unuaual thmg during her jewelry class isthat Ben Wilson and Brandon Branson came to the doorof her jewelry class and told her that they were ditching school. She said that Justin Wilson, Ben's brother, worksin the attendance office. She didn't know jf Just in was going to cover for them or not. She also identified this on the map as table "RR" however she couldn't be sure because me tabies on themap are aligned in such a way that they would not have been in the cafeteria, She indicated that when she arrivedat the table, most of the people were in l ine to purchase lunch but that the people that were sitting at her table

Kristin initially thought there was a fight and she and Jamie held handsand dropped to the floor She said they then heard gunshots coming from parking lot and she attempted to getup and then saw what she thought was an explosion outside of the west windows of the cafeteria. She thenlooked out of the south cafeteria windows by the exits and thought she thought She saw a female get shot andfall down. She also thought that she a girl named Alisha was outSide and was going to heip this girl

    Kristin Cardweil said that at this point people started running and screaming toward the stairs She andJamie then got up and started running, thought they wouid try and get to the elevator As they got to the eievalOrthey saw itwas too crowded and then thought about going into the bathrooms but did not want to become trappeaSo at this time, Mr, Andres and Mr. Andres, Jr. were opening the back door to the aucitonum storage room andwere escorting students into the auditorium. She said that they went to the aucitorium. went out onto the stageand then ran through the auditorium to the upper doors. They exited out through a north door of the auditorium

JEFFCO SHERIFF'S OFFICEand immediately to their west were several doors that were closed, which lead down a hallway to entrance intothe library. Kristin Cardweli said that they could hear gunshots coming from that area so they ran up the halltoward the main entrance, made a left, then a right. and another left which took them outside behind thegymnasium. She said that they then ran to an area referred to asthe "smoker's ptt which is in Clement Park nearthe tennis courts and batting cage. She said that when they arrived at the smoking pit. they heard that thegunmen were chasing them and they all ran toward the fountain at Clement Park. She said that when she arrivedat fountain she met upwith a friend, Christine 8ell Who lives nearby inthe Leawood area and Christine invited herto go to her house, which she did.

    Kristin Cardwell could not describe how many gunshots or explosions she heard but said that she heardthem the entire time she was running from the building. She estimated that from the time that incident began andshe ran to the bathrooms until the time she got out of the buildingwas approximately five to ten minutes, with tenminutes being on the long side.

    Kristin Cardwell said that she not noticed anything unusual during the morning prior to the incidentoccurring. She did not observe any backpacks or unattended duffle bags. She stated that ttwould not be unusualforthere be unattended backpacks or even duffle bags in the cafeteria as people routinely place these Itemsdownon the ground or chairs or tables to claim a spot and then go get on the lunch line.

    Kristin Cardwell indicated that she had a blue Eastpack backpack. There was some writing on the packwhich included her locker combination, some Japanese Writingand a pink heart. She said inSide the backpackis her math book, science book, some ink, her vocabulary book, binders, pens. paper. a CD of "Drop KiCk' a makeup case and a calculator, possibly two calculators.

    Kristin Cardwell said that she was wearing a paie green tank top. gray sweater. jeans. and black bootsI asked her how she knew that she had passed DYLAN KLEBOLD in the hallway everyday She said thai

    she didn't know him until his picture was in news but it was definitely him that she passed everyday That heoccasionally wore a shirt that said "AOL, where all the cool hackers are". She said that words were spelledstrange. She believed "haCkers" was spelled phonetically and that 'cool" was spelled "Kwel" She said that shn"!was green with white leltering.

    She went to school in the morning l ike usual . She went to a l lo f her c lasses . Things were normal up to the inc ident . She didn ' t90 to the cafe te r i a bafore lunch, and never not iced any duf f l e bags.

    She got to the cafe ter ia about 11:09. Her choir class got outa l i t t l e ear ly . She sa t a t table 0 (see diagram) with Jenni ferBarnes and Nicole Boudreau (303 904-0946). She sa id tha t otherswere a i t t i ng a t the table , but ahe doean' t remember who they were.Jennifer Barnes was a i t t ing to the l e f t o f Katherine. She put herback pack down a f t e r she got her food. The pack was pre t ty muchunder the t ab le , and next to her chair .

    While she was eat ing, a couple of people came in by the vendingmachines. Then, Mr. Sanders Came in the cafe ter ia . He wasacreaming to ge t down. She thought it was a joke and sa t there .Then, a couple of people atar ted to get down and tben more got down.Then, everybody was down. She heard some shots . She sa id it

    Kathrine saw people running up the a ta i ra and followed. Theg i r l in fron t of her f e l l and she helped her and then kept running.She aaw a couple p eople go in g to the science hal l . She saw NathanAnama going in the science hal l . She turned r igh t toward thescience ha l l . she missed the f i r s t door, and the second door waslocked with people still in the i r aeats, having clasa . She keptrunning un t i l her and Nate and a couple of other kids go to a turnand went in to another room. Mr. Sanders ended up in th i s room.Someone turned off the l igh t s . The got behind the wall where thedoor waa, so no one could see them. Daniel Grange ran in and sa idtha t Mr. Sandera got shot. They a l l sa t down and Mr. Sanders walkedin and f e l l over . Mr. Sariders f e l l on a rug tha t was by the "'hi tedoor. Mr. Sanders pul led himself under a t ab le with h is forearms.David Bacbhelder was next to Mr. Sandera. An aide took David to an

    The kids waited there for about twenty minutes. Katherinecould hear shots and bombs. She sa id there were over 6 bombs. Shecould fee l the bombs vibra t ing on the f loor , but couldn ' t t e l l wherethey were coming from.

    She sa id th at things seemed to slow down. Mr. Friessen ran inand Aaron Haney said to take off the i r shi r t s ( to the guys) to useas compresses fo r Mr. Sanders. She thinks t ha t Mrs. Wyatt got af i re blanket to put on Mr. Sanders. He was coughing up blood. Mr.Sanders pre t ty much layed s t i l l unt i l the l a s t hal f hour they werein the room. She heard him twice saying he couldn ' t breath . He'dpush himself up and r o l l ove r .

    Kathrine said tha t a lo t of the t ime, Mrs. Miller was on thephone with someone in contact with the SWAT team. The f i re alarmwas going o ff fo r a couple of hours, then the school be l l went offnon s top .

    Kathrine sa id tha t the f i r s t hour or so, they were ta lkingabout t h e i r parents being worried about them. They were wonderingwhere f r iends and family members were. Some were crying . Some werepraying. Kathrine sa id , "Mr. Sanders hung in there the wholet ime. The person on the phone said the SWAT team would be theresoon. Mr. Sanders sa id he couldn ' t make it and sa id to , "Tel l mygi r l s I love them."
