FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION
6/3/99Date of transcription _=='-""'- _On 5/28/99, Courtney Van Dell, DOB 9/16/83, 6463 West
Canyon Avenue, Littleton, Colorado, was advised of the identityof the interviewing Agents, and the nature and purpose of theinterview. She was interviewed in the presence of her Attorney,Kalman Elinot!, and ber Mother and Father, Solie and Gregg VanDell. She provided the following information,
Courtney is in her freshman year at Columbine HighSchool, and attended Columbine until 4/14/99, Her parentswithdrew her from columbine on the aforementioned date becauseshe was having conflicts with both the staff and students at theschool. Courtney was at home on 4/20/99, the day of theColumbine incident. She later learned of the incident fromviewing news reports on television,
While she was still attending Columbine, she didassociate with alleged Trench Coat Mafia (TCM) members andassociates. She stated that she befriended them because theywere different than most of the other students, not unlikeherself. She associated with Chris Morris on a semi regularbasis at school. She and Chris compared poet~f that they hadwritten, and often spoke of their views on life. They also spokeof being different that the res~ of the students, and theharassment that they were botb getting at school. Some of theharassment included haVing focd thrown at her, as well as verbalabuse such as being called "Satan", She attributed this to thefact that she used to wear a set of horns to school. A teacherhad also complained about Courtney's appearance to the Dean ofstudents, Mr. Horvath. The teacher told Horvath that Courtney'smode of dress was distracting while trying to teach_ ChrisMorris had a lot of anger pent up inside due to the harassmentand non acceptance at school_ Courtney actually thought thatMorris ironically had a superior attitude reference himself incomparison to other students. Morris never spoke of guns, bombsor any plans that he or others had that may have been similar tothe assault chat occurred on 4/20/99. Although they were calledthe TCM, Courtney rarely saw any of the students wearing trenchcoats. In fact, she believes that the TCM basically split upduring the past school year.

She had second period free, and would go to ChrisMorris' house to "hang out" during the free period. On at leastone occasion, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were also at Morris'residence. The conversation was casual, and they didn't talkabout guns, bombs or plans of an assault on the school. courtneythought that both Eric and Dylan were nice and polite. There washowever some discussion of harassment that they were all goingthrough, and some casual talk of revenge, but nothing reallyserious. She couldn't remember specifics of this conversation, but again stated that it was nothing serious.
Since 4/20/99, Courtney has had no contact with any ofthe TCM or associates. She did see a girl named Kristen (LNU)wnowas an associate, working at the AMe 24 movie complex, but onlysaid hello. Another individual named Brian (LNU) who was anassociate was also working at the AMC 24 and only said hello. She has talked to other friends since the incident, to include agirl named Michelle Schott. Michelle told Courtney that shethought that she saw a man on the roof of the school on 4/20/99,in a white t-shirt possible throwing bombs from the roof.
Courtney uses the Internet, and has several screennames. Some of her screen names include Poet 83, and Gothic Fly.Her Internet servioe is AOL, and she rarely uses chat rooms. Shehas no IeQ account number_
