On 04-20-99, at about 1354 hrs., InvestigatorMundorfand I respondedto SwedishMedicalCenter at 501 E. Hampden Ave. in Englewood to a.ssist in obtaininginformationrelating to four studentswho had been brought infrom Columbine High School.

We were advised that there were four students, who were identified as:

DetectiveForington was allowed back to the surgical areas and collected evidencefromthree ofthe victims.

That this was the firstyear that Richard was a student at Columbine HighSchool and he did not like it so he was planning to transfer to CherryHigh School.

That Richardwas a very quiet kid and nevertold his parentsor brotherwhy he was unhappy at school.

That Richardnever talked about kid's at the schoolthat wore trench coats.

InvestigatorClayForington collected the clothing taken from AnnMarieHochhalterbyER staff; whichhad been placedin a plastic bag. This Investigator took the bag ofclothing, described as jeans, multi-colored shirt,bra, and pantiesfrom InvestigatorForington on evidence receipt and placedit into Arapahoe County Sheriff'sOfficeevidence.

At 1754hours, this Investigatorwas advised that SeanGraves was out of surgeryand wastalkingahout this incident. With the permission and in the presenceofSean's familythisInvestigatorand Investigator Moomawinterviewed Sean. Seanadvised the following:

That Sean saw the two suspects, who he advised are studentsat the schoolalthoughhe did not know their names.

That Sean and his two friend's, LanceKirkland and Dan Robah, were out­side the lunch commons area goingup the hillwhen Sean saw the two sus­pects shooting.

That Sean thought they were playing a same called"annihilation", whichthe Seniorshave been playing at schoolrecently(with fake guns/paintballs).

That Sean stated that theywere wearing black trench coats and referred tothetn as "Trench Coat Malia".

That he also advised that they were carrying bagswhich theywere loadingtheir weapons (which he described as "huge") out of and said that nothingwas coveringtheir faces.

That Sean advised that the "tall one" pulleda gun, which he described asa"power rifle", out ofhis trenchcoat.

That he also stated that the "short one" was usinga AK47/army editionsemi-automatic.

That in re!l:rence to Dan Robah, Sean stated that "he's dead" andDan wasthe first one shot.

That LanceKirkland wasshot in the head and possibly the neck, andbelieves that both suspects shotLance.

That Seanwas alsoshot and hit the ground and "playeddead" and whilehe was laying there he heard the suspects walking around talking (unknownwhat was said), and alsoadvised that they blewsomething up and wereshooting randomly.

That Seanthought that the"killers" wentinto the field, stating "I think".

That Sean stated that he dragged himself to the doorway wherethejanitorpulled him halfway into the doorway, "becausehe was concerned aboutSean's life".

That Sean believed that thejanitormayhave also beenshot "in the butt".

That Sean staled that he believed that theyhad "cannons" because some­one shot the ceiling (in the lunch room), which caused a bigexplosion andshrapnel allover.

That Seanalso advised that they did not sayanything to him andstated •"they're fruit loops".

That Sean again statedthat whenthey first started shootinghe thoughtthey were using "rubberrounds".

That Sean stated that hethoughtit was a joke, and didn't thinkthiswouldhappenat his school.

That Christopher's sister had been dating for about two years.

That Christopherbelieves that he knows who the suspectsare(basedon newsreports) and stated that they are known to himas "Reb" and "Dylan".

That Reb and Dylanhavebeenat his housebeforeand he described themasnormal guys.

That Dylandrives a BMWwith "NineInchNail"stickers on it.

That Christopheris a student at Columbine High Schooland was in the lunchroom today when he heard"poppingnoises" so he went to the windowand sawSeanGraves laying on the ground.

That Christopher went to the door to see what was wrong with SeanGraves andSean told him, "1got shot",

That Christopherbegan running throughthe lunch room yelling for peopleto "getdown" and also yelling that "Sean got shot",

That Christopherstaled that windows were shattering in the lunch room by thevending machines.

That Christopher recalled hearing a "boom" and looked out the window and sawatall, ganglywhile malewearinga blackski mask and trench coat and a shortermale(back side only)wearinga blacktrenchcoat standing by somecars, laughing,and also staled that he saw smokeandfire.

That he saw a group of people running behind him"like a hurricane" so hejumpedover a rail and continuedrunning throughthe balls toward the front entrance,knockingon doors as he ran to warn people.

That Christopheralso stated that he heard "pops" near the office area so he assum­ed that there might havebeen a third suspectalthough stated that he did not see athird suspect, end further advisedthat it could havebeen the two guys he saw out­side shooting.

That Christophergot outside and did not see anything else regarding the shooting.

That Christopher Morris used to wear a trenchcoat and "hung with Reb andDylan", althoughthe group broke up over the summerand after ChristopherMorris started datingChristopher's sister, Nicole, he quit wearingthe trenchcoat and didn't hang with Reb andDylan "too much".

That ChristopherMorrisstarted wearing a blackjacket insteadwith an "anarchypatch" on it, whichNicole sewedon for him.

That Christopheronlysaw Reb andDylanwearingthe black trench coats thisyear and advised that the "jock's" gave themthe name, "Trench Coat Mana",but they liked the nameso they decided to keep it.

That the last time ChristophersawReb and Dylan at his housewas over theChristmas holiday.

That ChristopherdescribedReb as the short one and Dylan as the tall one.

DOYLE, JENNIFERDOB - 01/19/82

DOYLE advised that after passing period for First Lunch, she was located in the libraryDOYLE heard gunshots and bombs going off DOYLE stated she was hiding under adesk in the library when two suspects entered

The suspects were described as

White males, 5'7-5'8, skinny buildWearing black boots, pants, and trench-coats

The suspects were randomly shooting at victims and at one time told everyoneto standup,

One of the suspects said he was w'!iting to do this for a long time

The suspect asked the second suspect, "You know what else I've been waiting to do?"

The second suspect said, "Yeah. stab some one,"

DOYLE said there were 30 to 40 people in the library and one victim, who she believeswas killed, was laying on top of her

DOYLE was able to run out the back door of the library to safety

DOYLE sustained injuries to her right hand, to include breaks and fractures, from gunshotwounds

DOYLE said she saw a long gun, 'but could not describeany other weapons

That he believed he could escape, byhiding in a dark roomnear the computerroom KYLER stayed in the dark room until he wasable to leave the building KYLERsaw one suspect wearing a trenchcoat, but could nor identify the suspect further, nor whatweapons he carried

Investigator Rasmussen was advised by Hospital Staffthat KYLER had brunt trauma,injury to the back and spinal area. There wasno additional information at this time.

Investigator Rasmussen then interviewed a third victim identified as'

JANKOWSKI, JOCYE

JANKOWSKI a teacher at the school provided the following information JAJ'fKOWSKIthat she was in the teachers' lounge. adjacent to thestudent cafeteria, having lunch Twofellow teachers were looking out he lounge window to the west

They stated,"What's going on"

JANKOWSKI lookedout the window and sawtwobloodied students' bodies, lying onthe grass JANKOWSKI then began to hear, what shedescribed as, loud explosions andgunshots alongwith screaming to the west of her location JANKOWSKI thought thegunshots and screaming was moving her way JANKOWSKI, two fellow teachers and twostudents, locked themselves in a bathroom They heard a very loud explosion andgunshots out side the bathroom

Theythen decided to escape by going through the ceiling and shesubsequently fellthrough the ceiling, back into the lounge This is when she injured her knees andback

They decided the best way to survive, was to open thedoor and try to escape the buildingThey did this and were successful During her escape, JANKOWSKI never saw thesuspects

Natalie related to the best of her knowledge, he never had any run ins with them. Seantold his mom that this occurred recently at school. There was a big group ofboys, a gangofkids.

Sean also related there was an Asian gang at school who deals drugs. However, the twogroups were not against each other. Sean said he was scared of them as everyone knewnot to mess with the "Black Coat Gang." Natalie indicated her son may know four or fivenames ofkids involved.

Patrick saw a kid in a trench coat. He had a plasticbag with him. The person then threwsomething into the parkinglot. Patrick related he saw the gunman shoot one of the kids inthe knee. The gunman was 5 to 6 feet away from the victim. The person who was shotwas AUSTIN EUBAN1CS. .

The trash bag the shooter had was black in color. Patrick related when the shooter wentinside, he saw his face. Patrick described the shooter as:

At about 1115 hrs., this Investigator spoke to the head nurse in surgery. She related thatthe remaining bullets or projectiles were being left in the victims at this time due to theirinjuries.

At about 1125 hrs., as this Investigator and Investigator Gee was preparing to leave thehospital, we were informed by Natalie Graves that her SOn was awake from surgery andtalking about the incident. She was also told bythe nurse he may forget about the incidentin a couple of hours.

At about 1135 hrs., this Investigator and Investigator Gee entered ICU and conducted aninterview with Sean Graves. For specific details reference the interview, refer toInvestigatorGee's report.

At about 1830 hrs., tlUs Investigator telephoned Sherry Markham. Sherry related herdaughter Nicole, son Chris and three ex members of the Trench Coat gang were at herhouse. This Investigator asked Sherry if she could bring them all down to the SheriffsOffice to be interviewed. She agreed.

Nicole did not see any guns. Two Fridays ago was Eric's birthday, on April 09. Eric hadhis eighteenth birthday and they had fun. She also related after the party last Saturday, heseemed fine.

This Investigator asked Nicole if she heard anything: about the group being gay. Sheindicated she heard that the guys sleep with the guys, the girls sleep with the girls thenthey trade. However, per Nicole this is not true. Nicole related she did not know aboutthe Trench Coat gang:until her sophomore year.

Nicole identified other girls who still date guys in the group and several who have left.They are:

Nicole did relate that Eric Harris was referred to as "REB". Per Nicole, Harris was intoHitler and heavy Satanic Music.

In regards to today, Nicole last saw Chris at about 1230 hrs. He and Cory came aroundthe corner and Cory was driving. Chris came running up to her house. Nicole saidsomething to Chris and he said, "Thank god your OK". Chris said he was going to leaveand call the cops. He was going to tell the cops who was doing this.

Nicole related she did not see Reb's or Dillion's car in the lot. Nicole described thefollowing vehicles as being driven by the suspects:

Nicole looked outside and saw a bigwhite canister go into the lot. She then heard some gun shots outside. She heard four orfive shots. Chris, her brother, was yelling at everybody to get out.

This Investigator asked Nicole if she has ever heard of a game being played at schoolcalled "Annihilation"? Nicole related it is played by wearing a white T-shirt and payingten dollars to play. The students using water pistols go around the school and shoot theirtarget It occurs every year for the seniors.

Nicole also related there is another game being played at school called .. SHADOWRUNNING." In this game the student makes up a character Then by using dice youdestroy other characters.

This Investigator asked Nicole if she has any idea why this occurred and she relatedpossibly because of Hitler's Birthday. Nicole related she has never been in Eric's house,that she just drives by their home. She has never gone inside

When Nicole was asked about their anger, she indicated they never showed her any angeror their troubles. Sherry Markham indicated that most of the kids involved are computernerds. Reb has designed different levels of a computer game.

This Investigator asked Nicole if she knew for sure if anyone in the group is gay and sherelated that nobody in the group that she knew of is gay. She relates everyone is straight.

Shari related her daughter, Valeen has talked about the shooting. Shari related thefollowingrefereru:e~er had previously told her. Valeen indicated she keepsseeing the faceof~ Shari indicated_use to be dressed in black andlooks very similar to Eric Harris.

Valeen keeps seeing. in her mind. Shari related _transferred to another schoolafter last semester. Shari indicated Valeen was in the library reading with her friends Gina,Lauren Townsend, Diwata and an unknown 4" girL They were sitting towards the front,along the windows.

The girls at the table heard the gunshots and bombs going off. A teacher carne in and toldeveryone to get under the tables. Lauren, Diwata and Valeen got under the table. Bothsuspects entered the library. They stayed together. Initially the suspects went past wherethe girls were hiding.

They went over to Isaiah and called hima "Fuckin black nigger." Then they shot hhnandthere were other gun shots. When they were coming into the library, they were throwingpipe bombs.

When Isaiah was shot, the girls screamed. The suspects came back and then shot Valeen,Valeen then said, "Oh my God." The suspect then said, "Do you believe in God?" Valeenreplied, "Yes." The suspect the said, "Why", they turned around and left.

Someone else in the library then screamed. She tried to wake up Lauren. Valeen thengrabbed her shirt and pushed it against her stomach. Valeen said she kept praying to God.She told herself ifshe wen! to sleep, she would die.

Upon leaving the library, they ran to the exit and then ran to the police cars. While in thelibrary, the suspects said they were going to blow up the school. The suspects let somepeople leave.

At about 1205 brs., we conducted an interview with Richard Castaldo. Present was hisfather, identified as:

He was there about twenty minutes. The suspects were shooting the windows out.Finally, the ambulance came. Castaldo just saw the two people involved. Castaldo wassittingwith RachelScott.

Castaldo described the suspects as one having longer hairand the other having a buzz cut.They were both wearing trench coats. Castaldo did indicate they had bags from wherethey took the bombs. Castaldo indicated he bas seen the suspects around the schoolbefore.

Castaldo heard windows breaking and the bombs going off. They shot at the windowswith the shotgun. Castaldowas sittingoutsidethe cafeteriawith Rachel Scott.

At about 1235 hrs., we spoke with Natalie Graves. Natalie indicated there was possiblysix people involved. She spoke to Anthony Curse. Anthony was running down the halland heard pop, pop, pop.

Natalie also related she spoke with a student named Nick. Nick looked out the windowsto the grassy hill and saw a person in a dark coal with a machine gun. This person wasnot one of the two doing the shooting. Nick told this to Natalie when he came to visitSean.
