FIRST YEAR ORIENTATION-STARTERS

SKCET gladly awaits the 2019-23 Batch of Budding Engineers to conjoin the

prestigious legacy of our Institution in the month of August 2019. The preparatory

measures for the First year Inauguration is at full swing in the campus. The video

shoot of our Principal Madam Dr.J.Janet on „Institution Highlights‟ for the pre-

BEST WISHES TO SAE SUPRA PARTICIPANTS MECH / MCT

Team „Gepard Racing‟ comprising of students from the department of Mechanical and

Mechatronics Engineering are geared up to participate in National level SAE SUPRA

event to be held from 15 July to 20 July 2019 at Greater Noida along with 127 other teams

all across India. Our Principal Madam Dr. J. Janet wished the students for their eventful

victory and safe onward journey.

SUMMER COURSES BY CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY

The students of School of management are trained by the expert Faculty members of

Concordia College, New York from 8th – 12th July 2019 on „Creativity: Design

Thinking and Innovation‟ and „Introduction to Digital Marketing‟. The Course

instructors are Prof. Amie Hollmann , Prof .Michael Schlabra, Prof .Hanen

Abboud, Prof. Rob Peck, Ms.Leina Braga and Prof.Cody Kemp.

As a part of the Industrial Based Learning, the Pre-final year students of the

department of EEE visited Thermal Power Station, Mettur which is commissioned with

1440MW capacity and operated by Tamilnadu Generation and Distribution Corporation

(TANGEDCO) Ltd. Learning Outcomes: The Industrial visit enabled the students to get

practical exposure on the role of turbine, alternator, processes involved in power

generation from coal, distribution of generated power through switch yard and utilization

of SCADA for control and monitoring of entire coal-fired in power station.

ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION - CSE

The Department of CSE commenced its association activities in a splendid fashion as the association was inaugurated by Ms.P.Praveena, Quality Assurance manager, Amazon, Bangalore. Dr.K.Sasi Kala Rani, HOD/CSE also commended the efforts of CSE Students in organizing this kind of informative programs to their students and lauded the functioning of Department Association. Office Bearers of the 2019-2020 Association were introduced during the Inauguration Ceremony.

GUEST LECTURE ON “SOFTWARE DEFINED EVERYTHING” CSE

A guest lecture on “Software Defined Everything” was delivered by

Ms.P.Praveena, Quality Assurance manager, Amazon, Bangalore. The lecture

illustrated various quality roles in software Industry that facilitate customized networking

environments for the small and midrange companies. She emphasized the motive for

the Agile Methodology, software-defined networking (SDN), software-defined storage

(SDS), software-defined data center (SDDC) and the metrics for assessment of quality

of IT technology. She also suggested several resources and statistics that are helpful in

managing the Roles in Software Industry. The Association kickstarted with a colossal

success entwined with the team spirit of the faculty members as well as the students.

lab incharges.The following points are discussed during the meeting: Lab accountability and

maintenance, Placement related activities, Attendance monitoring, Faculty and student

contribution to R&D, NPTEL registration, NAAC criteria work completion

The Department of Information Technology in association with ICT Academy is organizing

six days workshop on ADX 201: Sales force Administrator trailhead in an objective to

expose the students to sales force platform and learn different trails/modules so as to equip

them to get employed in leading MNCs. Today's session was a Hands-on session

"Lightning App Builder" using trailhead tool.

Simulated Interviews were conducted for Final year Mechanical students by the

Management students of II year. The pre-placement training activity was mentored by

Dr.P.Vijayalakshmi,SoM, faculty of Mechanical Department - Mr.Arunbharathi,

Mr.Pranesh.S and Mr.Babu.N. Students from Mechanical department fervently attended

the interview and gained confidence to face the interview.
