The Civil Engineering Association (CEA) was inaugurated for the new Academic year.

The Chief Guest for the Inaugural function was Dr.A.Sudhakar, ICI Secretary, Students

Chapter-Coimbatore, Chief Consultant, DIMENSIONS @ Confluence, Coimbatore. He

delivered a Guest lecture on “Career prospects for Civil Engineers” as a part of the

Inaugural function. He emphasized the need for taking Civil Engineering as a Profession

seriously and threw light on the various opportunities for successful Civil Engineers. The

Office bearers were also introduced.

Department of ECE organized a guest lecture on “Real Time Applications of ARM 7 &

ARM 9 processors” for III year ECE students. Mr. Manikandarajan, Senior Software

Developer from BOSCH, Coimbatore delivered an informative session on real time

co-design of Embedded hardware with ARM controllers.

Department of EEE has organized one-week bridge course for the lateral students of

academic year 2019-2020 at BS-11, aiming to orient them with the foundation basics for

the new entrants. In this regard, Mrs.S.Sivaranjani, faculty of EEE handled a session on

the topic on “Digital circuits K map reduction”.

Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with ICT academy is hosting a

Faculty Development Programme on Product design engineering using Fusion 360.

Mr.DivyaPrasanth, Technical trainer, ICT Academy, Chennai and Mr.Anand,

Relationship manager, ICT Academy, Coimbatore are the resource persons for the event.

Faculty members from the department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

participated in the FDP. The final session of the FDP was on „Projects on design and

analysis of machine components‟.

The students of II EEE A were motivated to share the recent trends in Technology. As an

initiation, David Joel gave a techie talk on Artificial Intelligence. He briefly explained the

evolution of AI and the technical advancement. The session was facilitated by

Mrs.G.Ignisha Rajathi, CSBS and appended his talk with the real world examples of AI.

The students received it with zeal and volunteered to take further sessions on latest

innovations.

ECE students. During the session, the students were given a brief idea about preparing for

GATE, GRE, CAT exams and they also had an interactive session with the experts by

Conclave 2019 at New Delhi. The theme was on „Effective MBA Faculty for 21st Century

Swacch Bharat Summer Internship (SBSI), the students of Sri Krishna College of

NSS SPECIAL CAMP 2019 JAL SHAKTHI ABHIYAN

Saving water is of prime importance in today‟s world. To sensitize the students

regarding this, SKCETians in association with KovaiKulangal Padhukappu

Amaippu, visited the Vellalore Lake area and carried out cleanliness activities.

THE MIYAWAKI METHOD: Miyawaki is a technique pioneered by

Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki that helps build dense, native forests.

The approach is supposed to ensure that plant growth is 10 times faster

and the resulting plantation is 30 times denser than usual. It involves

planting dozens of native species in the same area, and becomes

maintenance-free after the first three years.

The students were enlightened on the method and the various procedures to do

the same by the people from the organisation who are the pioneers in cleaning

water bodies in all surrounding areas. We were also informed about the 70

edible species that were planted in and around.

Trees serve as a source for various needs in our day-to-day lives. As part of the Jal

Shakthi Abhiyan to bring in more water and adopt the Miyawiki method, several plants

were planted in and around the area.
