R&D OUTCOME RECOGNITION TO SKCET BY DST

Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology has been appreciated by

Department of Science and Technology ( DST) in the official correspondence from

Dr.Indu Puri, DST Scientist. The commendable work carried out by the Women

Empowerment Cell pertaining to the ongoing funded DST-SEED project and the

presentation during the review meeting has been rated as "Very Good" by the

review panel.

The panel appreciated the scientific interventions and Entrepreneurial exercises

conducted at the Campus and acknowledged the efforts taken by the team for the

introduction of the course “Processed Food Entrepreneur- Millet products” with the

NSDC-FICSI approved curriculum.

CSBS/CSE – HACK VICTORS DELIVER GUEST LECTURE AT TVS

As a post-winning outcome of VIT Hack, the students from the departments of

CSBS and CSE are leveraged for a Guest Lecture 'Learning Convention 2020' at

TVS Motor Company Ltd., Hosur. They have been invited to the TVS office to

educate the TVS employees in 'Cyber Security Trends and Live Hacking'. Our

students are marching uphill to give away lectures, with their sparkling technology

insights.

The Theater club of S&H witnessed a gamut of acting skills at the 'Act your role

out' , conducted for the First year students. The students enthusiastically enacted

various roles given to them on the spot.





MECH - INDUSTRIAL VISIT

As a part of Industry oriented learning, II Year Mechanical Engineering students

visited Caterpillar - Engine Assembly Division and Ashok Leyland Unit-1

duringthe 24th and 25th January 2020.Students were exposed to one of the largest

engine models 3412 and 3408 which produces the power of 624 HP and 520 HP,

line six cylinder B VI engine manufacturing and assemble area. Students also

visited a newly equipped and adopted Industry 4.0.

MECH- INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

Student team comprising of 33 students from II year Mechanical Engineering

participated in the Hands-on Training on IC Engine and Gear Box at Karivardhan

Vocational Training Institute. The students were also exposed to a practical

knowledge on the working of SI & CI Engines and Engine and Transmission

systems.





EEE – ISIE INDIAN KARTING RACE – DAY 5

Team Quasar‟s Hypernova comprising of 22 students from EEE, MCT, MECH and

CSE are participating in Indian Karting Race by Imperial Society of Innovative

Engineers at Bhopal. In the Day 5 of the event, the team is competing with 95

different teams from across the country in the grand finale round.

MECH – RESEARCH SUPERVISOR RECOGNITION

Dr.C.Rajendran, Associate Professor ,Department of Mechanical Engineering,

has been recognized as a supervisor(Ref.No:3520019) for guiding Ph.D scholars

of Anna university. His area of specialization is 'Materials joining, surface and

coating, corrosion, composite materials'.

A meeting was convened by the NBA file coordinators of ECE to discuss the NBA

file work completion status.





MECH - INTERNATIONAL MACHINE TOOL EXPO (IMTEX 2020)

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is displaying seven research

projects at International Machine Tool Expo (IMTEX 2020), Bengaluru

organised from 23rd Jan to 28th Jan. Dr. Ben Ruban, Assistant Professor,

Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mr. V. P. Srinivasan, Assistant

Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering participated in the expo. In the

3rd day of the expo, representatives from various manufacturing organizations

visited SKCET cubicle and enquired about possible collaboration pertaining to

student placements.

Mr.Suresh.R , Assistant Professor, Department of S&H has successfully completed

'Single Variable Calculus', an online non-credit course authorized by Penn,

University of Pennsylvania and offered through Coursera.

THEME FOCUS- NATIONAL VOTERS DAY

National Voters Day is celebrated across the country on 25th January of every

year to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India (ECI). The theme

for this year is 'Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy'. The theme sets the

tone for year-long activities with focus on voter education and renewal of citizens’

faith in the electoral process.

to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair

THE SWACHHATA ACTION PLAN STORY – A WALKTHROUGH

Our Principal, Dr.J.Janet, at Swachhata Action Plan Meeting withMr. B.S.C. Naveen

Kumar, Representative of MGNCRE – MHRD on 30.09.2019

SKCET had been prestigiously nominated under Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) 2019. A deterministic action plan was initiated by adopting two villages of Arumugakoundanoor and PerurChettipalayam to sensitize these people on the benefits of using toilets instead of open defecation. Ms D. Samatha, MGNCRE Officer, SAP Inspection Committee paid her first Institutional visit on 23.10.2019 towards Comprehensive Sanitation Management (including ODF).





SWACHHATA ACTION PLAN - VISIT 1






Mr. Manimaran, Deputy BDO and Mr .Senthil, Secretary, PerurChettipalayam and

the officials in the Panchayat office dutifully elucidated the impact of implementation

of SAP in the village.






The teachers of PerurChettipalayam Government School and Armughakoundanoor

Govt. Middle School had all praises for the SKCET SAP team.The children were

familiarized on ODF and other issues related to hygiene.





SWACHHATA ACTION PLAN- VISIT 1–EXIT MEETING

Envisaging cleaner India, SKCET was given the privilege to be a part of Swaachhta

Action Plan (SAP) 2019. The SAP team implemented the awareness on Open

Defecation Free (ODF) India among the adopted village people of

Arumugakoundanoor and PerurChettipalayam through various events such as

Sanitation alertness survey, Dengue cautioning campaign and free Medical check-

up, ODF responsiveness rally, Sensitising School children on ODF and the Village

visit assessing the influence of these cleanliness programmes. Subsequently, to

screen the impact assessment of SKCET SAP 2019, the Exit Meeting was organised

on October 24, 2019. Principal Madam along with Ms D. Samatha, MGNCRE

Officer, SAP Inspection Committee and SAP Committee members were present in

the meeting. The Committee observed that a lot of momentum was created among

these people on ODF awareness and appreciated the significant and vivid

progresses made in the two villages.

TREE PLANTATION

SKCET organised “Sapling Plantation” at ArumugaGoundanur Higher Secondary

School at PerurChettipalayam, Coimbatore. Our Principal Madam Dr. J. Janet

along with the department heads planted the saplings along with school students.

Various high CO2 absorbing saplings like Nerium, Neem, etc., were planted.The

Village president along with the Gramsabha members interacted with our Principal

Madam and gave assurance that they will encourage sapling plantation in their

villages.

SKCET organized Pledge Ceremony

at ArumugaGoundanur Higher

Secondary School at

PerurChettipalayam, Coimbatore.

Over 150 students administered the

pledge to keep their surroundings

clean in order to make the Swachh

Bharat mission possible. Students

promised to pass on this vision and

help 100 more people to administer

this pledge today. Students are

confident that every step that they are

taking towards cleanliness will help in

making the country clean.

SWACHHATA ACTION PLAN FINALPRESENTATION

Janet along with NSS Programme Officers and HODs.The Inspection committee expert congratulated the efforts of the Institutions towards the successful implementation of SAP.





SWACHHATA ACTION PLAN FINAL VISIT AT SCHOOLS AND ANGANWADIS

The Head mistress, teachers and students of ArumugaGoundanur Govt. Middle

School thanked the SKCET SAP team towards 100% ODF implemented in the

campus. The children were familiarized on ODF and other issues related to hygiene.

After SAP, the Anganwadi teachers said that the students follow several hygienic

habits. The students’ core swachhata team demonstrated proper hand-washing

procedure to other students. The student core team also followed-up the ODF

activities, maintenance of tree planted per class and cleanliness activities throughout

the campus.





SWACHHATA ACTION PLAN FINAL VISIT AT PANCHAYAT OFFICE – SARPANCH MEETING

The President of the Panchayat office, Mrs. ShanthiPrasath was very proud and

happy about the initiatives of SKCET. Over 1000 people out of the total village

population were benefited by the activities conducted for sanitation, women

empowerment, school renovation work in toilets and septic tank, initiatives for

construction of residential toilets, public toilet renovation work, rain water harvesting

and several awareness programs. She also said that if many more colleges come

forward with such activities, our country would very soon be a super power.

SWACHHATA ACTION PLAN FINAL VISIT AT STREETS

Due to lack of space, certain

villagers could not construct toilets

at their homes. The villagers said

they find the renovated public toilets

with clean environment and proper

water facilities very beneficial.

The village counselor stated that the efforts of SKCET have made their village an

ODF zone and hence the streets are cleaner now. Due to the slum health awareness

programs conducted by the institution, the villagers are also ready to hold hands and

contribute towards the cleanliness of the village.
