Principal Madam warmly welcomed Ms. Shanthi Mohan, Adviser –

Education USA, United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), US

Consulate Chennai and had a prolific discussion on the US Education

opportunities for students. EducationUSA is the official information centre on

US Higher Education wherein Madam enquired about the structure of the

graduate programs in the U.S. and possibility of the educational exchange

programmes.

SIH 2020-FINAL ASSAY BY PRINCIPAL MADAM

Principal Madam convened a Final Assay of SIH idea submissions for

the student teams shortlisted for the SIH 2020-Software Edition along

with the Technical panel members. More than six rounds of scrutiny

reviews were conducted by the Technical panel headed by Principal

Madam to inculcate the culture of product innovation and out-of-the-

box thinking in young minds of SKCET for the Smart India Hackathon

2020. This is a nationwide initiative which provides students a platform

to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives.

S&H- INNOVATIVE CLUB ACTIVITY

The Innovative Club of SHA conducted a presentation event on the topic

‘Wealth from Waste’ for the First year students. Students presented their

views on conversion of different forms of waste ranging from plastic to

e-waste into useful fuel for future sustainability.




S&H - TCS ASSESSMENT

An assessment in Business Communication and Value Science- I was

conducted for the students of First year B.Tech Computer Science &

Business Systems (CSBS) powered by TCS under the supervision of

Dr.S. Balakrishnan, HOD, CSBS. The assessment was convened through

video conference call to identify the achievement level of learning

outcomes and figure out the progress of students in speaking skills.




IT - USA EDUCATION SEMINAR

The Department of Information Technology, in association with Education

USA at USIEF, U.S. Consulate, Chennai organized a session on ‘Higher

education opportunities in the U.S.’ with the intent of providing accurate,

current, comprehensive and unbiased information about studying in the

U.S.A. Ms. Shanthi Mohan, Adviser – Education USA, United States-India

Educational Foundation outlined the numerous higher education options

available, the structure of the graduate program in U.S. and the student visa

process. She also gave an insight on various services rendered by the

organization, in this regard. The forum was both informative and

inspirational for the multi- disciplinary student audience. The lecture was

followed by a short interactive session, during which the expert addressed

various queries raised by the students with regard to the application process

to U.S Institutions.

MECH - WORKSHOP ON AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING

The SAE club of SKCET organized a workshop on ‘Overview of

Automobile Engineering’ by Mr. A.Achith Devanand, Alumnus of the

Department (2015-2019) batch. A post-workshop quiz was also conducted

to ensure the students understanding and knowledge on the topic.

Second prize in the Debate Competition at the National Level

Symposium held at Sri Adithya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore.

MECH - STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IN CODING CONTEST

Pechimuthu.J, Second year student from the Department of Mechanical

Engineering participated in DAKSH 2K20 - a coding contest conducted

by Sastra University. He has secured the ‘Top 10’ and has also been

ranked 8th among the 100 contestants.
