eateries in Philly many times to com-pare his to theirs, making sure his cus-tomers are getting authentic Phillytaste. “The biggest compliment of allis when people get off the plane fromPhiladelphia and come straight herefor our food,” says Mike.

One customer, who calls himselfPhilly Joe says, “I’ve lived in Floridafor 25 years and have tried a lot of so-called Philly cheesesteaks. This is by farthe best I’ve had. The rolls are fromPhilly, the meat is from Philly. Theymake them big as well. What you getat Best of Philly would be considereddouble meat anywhere in Philly. I’mtelling you they are packed. The bestreferral I can give you is that I have afriend that visits from Philly and hebrings these cheesesteaks back homewith him!!! How’s that for a testimo-nial? I’ve referred many people thereand none have been disappointed.Take it from me, I was born and raisedin Philly.”

The perfect Philly cheesesteakstarts with a soft, delicious roll and asany cheesesteak lover knows, the roll is

as important as the filling. The originalPhilly cheesesteak, as served in Philly,is either with or without onions. I likemine with mushrooms, peppers andonions. Mike says this is the Florida-style cheesesteak, so I guess it makessense that it’s this Florida girl’s fa-vorite! You can choose from threekinds of cheese. Mike says most cus-tomers prefer white American, butprovolone is available and even CheeseWhiz for those South Philadelphians!

Hoagies, Wings & Hand-Cut Fries,OH MY!

In addition to the best Phillycheesesteaks around, Best of PhillyCheesesteak House has something elseyou’ll love too like the cold hoagiesand hot sandwiches, bone-in wings,

boneless wings, burgers and a varietyof appetizers.

One of my favorite treats at Bestof Philly Cheesesteak House has to bewhat I call the “gone-in-a-minute”hand-cut fries. They are a perfect sidefor any club sandwich or burger, orjust on their own with a side of gravyor hot cheese. Yes, gravy for yourFrench fries is the ultimate comfortfood! Pair those fries with any one ofthe delicious burgers, hot sandwiches, cold subs or even a variety of appetiz-ers and you’ve got yourself the perfectmeal! Mike says, “You really can’t beatour burgers either. They are cut inhalf, stuffed in a soft amoroso roll andpiled high with your favorite top-pings!”

It was thanks to the donations andcontributions of so many local busi-nesses and supporters that made thisevent the success that it was. Manylocal restaurants donated gift certifi-cates, while large organizations andcompanies donated products, tickets,

After multiple stays in the hospi-tal, a local 15-year-old girl has usedher experience to recognize a need ofothers. While at the hospital, CaitlinShannon found herself dreading longdays in the hospital awaiting tests andprocedures and thought that manyother children in her position, orworse, may experience the same feel-ing. When thinking about her experi-ence, Caitlin, the oldest of foursiblings, says, “When I was 13, I wasin and out of the hospital and surgerycenters for two years. It gave me anamazing outlook.”

Caitlin has put her thoughts intoaction. While most 15-year-old girlsare busy trying to take the perfectselfie, Caitlin is helping others. Withthe support of her family, Caitlin hascreated a charity called Sparkle Power. The name is significant because“sparkle” represents goodies thatbrighten a patient’s day and “power”represents the power of a positive

attitude to help apatient recoverfaster. ThroughSparkle Power,Caitlin brings joy tochildren that findthemselves hospital-ized for extendedperiods of time bybringing them ‘carepackages’, that shesimply calls SparklePower Boxes. ASparkle Power Boxconsists of items tobanish hospitalroom boredom andincludes things like coloring books, crayons and even socks for cold hospi-tal rooms. Her inspiration for theboxes came from little things shereceived while in the hospital. Sherecalls, “When I would get a smallgift, like Chapstick, a personal comfortitem, or something small like we have

in the Sparkle Power goodie bags, itreally brightens your day.”

Caitlin’s mom, Brooke Shannon,is in awe of her daughter’s level of phi-lanthropy. When asked about Caitlin’sinspiration to create Sparkle Power,Brooke said, “It really touched herheart when she saw other children

alone, bored or really not having any-thing to get them through the dayand she had her siblings and my hus-band and I to visit and bring littlegoodies, but she noticed that some ofthe other children in the hospitalwould be lonely and sad. She thoughtmaybe, once I’m feeling better, she

could do something to help brightenthese kids’ days and maybe that wouldhelp them recover a little faster. That’s what prompted her to come upwith her charity. Now that she’s feel-ing better, she wants to give back toher community.”

One look at this amazing younglady’s charity Instagram account,@sparklepoweroffical, and even thecoldest heart will begin to melt. View-ers are met with the smiling faces ofchildren that Caitlin has helped andthe stories of hope and courage thateach child possesses. It is clear to seethat Caitlin has a huge heart and caresdeeply for each and every child shehelps. Since security protocols at somehospitals make it difficult to deliver thepackages directly to patients, RonaldMcDonald House charities seemedlike the perfect way to get the carepackages in the hands of the families.Ronald McDonald House provides nocost housing to families with childrenthat are long term or frequent patientsat nearby hospitals.

Moved by Caitlin’s dedication tohelping others, a corporate conferencecompany called IQPC Exchange tooknotice of Sparkle Power. While its par-ent company, IQPC, is a worldwide

business, IQPC Exchange itself onlyhas two offices in the United States, including New York and one here inTampa. The company plans and hostsmultiple nationwide conferences forexecutives and thought leaders fromFortune 1000 companies.

IQPC Exchange has now joinedforces with Sparkle Power to help chil-dren and their families with extendedhospital stays. To take it a step further,IQPC Exchange has expanded thecare packages to include items for notonly the patients, but for the familiesas well. Items include non-perishablefood items, toys for siblings, toiletriesand more. IQPC Exchange has placedJessica Yeshaiek in a lead position ofthe efforts and she could not be morethrilled. Jessica’s college sorority washeavily involved with RMH and she’secstatic to be involved with such an in-credible mix of caring organizations.IQPC Exchange has also begun bring-ing the items to the conferences andgetting the attending executives on-board with participating in creatingthe packages to give to the families. One of the attendees tweeted a photoof the packages and said how muchhe loved being a part of the ‘socialresponsibility’.

On IQPC Exchange’s involve-ment Yeshaiek said, “It is really heart-warming for us to have a chance togive back to the Tampa Bay commu-nity. We are proud to be part of an ini-tiative to support Sparkle Power andRonald McDonald House by assem-bling the Sparkle Power goodie bagsat IQPC events around the country, then delivering them to The RonaldMcDonald House to give to deservingfamilies.”

With IQPC Exchange’s help,Caitlin and Sparkle Power are able toreach more families in need. Sparkle

Power is incorporated and has filed itsapplication to be recognized as a501(c)(3) non-profit company. If youare interested in interviewing Caitlinor IQPC Exchange, please join uswhen we deliver the next set of carepackages to RMH. The drop off isscheduled to occur on Friday, October9th.

Aerial Yoga incorporates large, u-shaped fabric hammocks and lifts youryoga practice off the ground! AerialYoga uses gravity as a tool tostrengthen your core and lead togreater flexibility! It isn’t hard, andthey offer plenty of classes for every-one, even beginners! You can do it!

Pilates Adapts Workouts to MatchYour Body’s Limitations

Wendy’s website describes Pilates

as, “a form of exercise, developed byJoseph Pilates, which emphasizes thebalanced development of the bodythrough core strength, flexibility, andawareness in order to support effi-cient, graceful movement.” Pilatesisn’t a fad, it’s a way of exercisingand becoming fit despite setbacks, despite having injuries or scoliosis. Infact, Wendy told me that it was origi-nally designed for rehabilitation pur-poses! When done correctly, it’s awonderful way to learn where yourbody is currently with regard to bal-ance and ability.

Wendy says, “I really encouragepeople to come in and have a one-on-one lesson with myself or one ofour certified personal trainers.” Sheexplains, “It’s so that you can seewhere your body fits, and becomecomfortable with the equipment.Pilates is excellent for people who

have thought that they can’t be fitbecause of their pain. But you can,and Pilates can help everyone!”
