Jethro, not of Beverly Hillbillies fame, but the father-in-law of Moses, once offered his stressed out son-in-law some wise council. After watching Moses attempt to act as arbiter, judge and jury for a people that some theologians offer a headcount above a million, Jethro suggested a more efficient leadership structure. (See Exodus 18)

All churches and businesses initiate restructuring from time to time. We have done so recently ourselves, for efficiency and financial reasons; as well as, to focus more resources on discipleship and assisting the continued growth of our church family towards spiritual maturity.

The following is a short summary of some of those changes you will soon see:

With Mark Posson’s departure, Tom Black will move into the position of Administrative Pastor. Bryce Hutson will assume the role of Worship/Communication Pastor, combining two areas of ministry. With that change, Vicki Ejibe will move into the position of Children’s Ministry Director and Chad Pickering will serve as our Family Ministry Pastor, while continuing to work with young adults. Roger London assumes leadership over the Care & Outreach ministries. David Mann transitions from communications to the new role of Teaching Pastor. Michael Thorne will now serve as Senior Adult Director and Cheryl Hurley is our Guest Services Director. The search continues for a Discipleship Pastor.

These moves become official February 1, however some transitioning will continue past that date. I am excited to see our wonderful staff take on new challenges to better minister to our church family. Please keep all of us in your prayers!

A Great Big“Thank You”The Central Kids Team would like to say a big thank you to the 500+ people who volunteered over the past year to make “building the next generation of Christ followers” a reality! There is no way that we could ever reach the nearly 1,000 children who come through our doors every week without the dedicated team of volunteers that God has given us. Thank you for all of those who are so willing to serve. We are truly blessed to see how God is using our volunteers to make an eternal impact.

Wedding days all begin with the hope of love that will endure. Love that not only lasts, but doesn’t limp and wheeze down the home stretch. God designed marriage to be life-giving, productive, fruitful, healthy. But, just as neglect and bad diet will break down the human body, a marriage can become unhealthy without careful attention.

What is the importance of a healthy marriage?

· It gives security and encouragement to your spouse, children, and others

· Energizes and helps establish a life worth living

· Develops each spouse into a better person

· Honors the Lord and exhibits His grace

What are the indications of a healthy marriage?

· You treasure your spouse

· You make your relationship a priority

· You feel safe and secure with your spouse

Weekend to Remember® (WTR) is an excellent seminar to strengthen marriages. What you and your spouse will experience there is the result of more than three decades of biblical research by a team of men and women who distilled what it takes to have a successful marriage and family. Using

As a Counselor, I often sit with people who are going through difficult and challenging times. Maybe it is a divorce, cancer, struggles with their children…. They often express their anger at God and feel distant from Him. They don’t understand why He allows such things to happen to them and to others. They wrestle with the loving nature of God.

Maybe it would help to consider that the loving nature of God has two sides. For true love to exist, there has to be a choice. Otherwise, we are simply a created being with no free will, much like a robot with no choice except to follow the master’s commands. When we get to choose to love, then love becomes real.

Most recently, I have had individuals struggling with all of the evil in the world and how God could allow it. We see so much suffering around us in so many different forms. With all of this suffering, many question if there is a God, and if there is a God, then who is He?

As I was contemplating these deeper questions, I opened up my Bible to Daniel, chapter 12. This is a prophetic book about the end times. As I read, several things jumped off the page. Verse 1 says, “… There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then.” Verse 20 says, “…but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand…” Verse 13 says, “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”

These verses reassure us that there is a bigger story going on in the world. God is a loving God, but in allowing free will, He allowed for evil in this world. This evil will continue to grow and get worse, but take hope, in the end, those who truly love God will receive your reward.

Two Sides to

The next passage that impacted me was Matthew 24. In this passage, Jesus speaks about the end times. Verse 37 says, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” We know that in the days of Noah, evil spread throughout the known world and everyone but Noah and his family had rejected God. Verse 10-13 says, “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Matthew 24 continues and speaks about the fig tree and parable of the ten virgins. These stories encourage us to recognize the signs and to be ready, but it doesn’t stop there. The next story is the parable of the talents. In this parable, Jesus is teaching about making the most of what has been given to you and doing it for God. Upon the master’s return, the desire is to hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

So in review, as we read the passage in context, Jesus warns us that evil will prosper in the end times. We are to recognize the signs, be ready, and continue to be faithful to what He has called us to do until that day when He returns and we receive our reward.

So when the world seems scary and overwhelming, remember that God wins in the end! When we choose to love God in the midst of suffering and uncertainty, we find peace and hope.

MissionsField reports

Dr. Paul GoddardMissions Pastor

new partnership : young lifeThe Missions Leadership Team recently approved a grant for the Wichita Young Life (YL) ministry, to support their program at Robinson Middle School. The school director is Jess Fleeman, a member of CCC. Their campus and camp program for middle school students is called “Wyldlife.” In the Christmas Young Life newsletter the following story appeared written by one of the teachers: (edited for length). “I had been considering going to Young Life (Wyldlife) Camp as an Adult Guest, but wasn’t sure…I had a student that I really wanted to hear the gospel, but her unstable home life made her an unlikely candidate to attend. I actually told God that if she went to camp, I would take it as a sign He wanted me to go. Against all odds, she signed up.

“On the last night of camp, the speaker gave a clear explanation of how to become a follower of Christ and then, all of the campers returned to their cabins to talk with their groups and their leaders. The following morning everyone who had made the decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior was invited to meet to learn how to grow in their new relationship with Christ. I went to the location early,

though I had no idea who would show up. The room began to fill-up with new middle-school believers, but my student was not among them. I felt sad not to see her. At the last minute, she came running in with her leader right behind her! My eyes filled with happy tears. God is mightily at work through the ministry of Wyldlife, and I feel humbled and privileged to be a small part of it.”

Young Life has ministr y teams at schools across the U.S. Their national President Denny Rydberg reports that in 2015 there were “68,385 volunteers reaching kids for Jesus Christ through Young Life.” This resulted in almost 2 million youth impacted for Christ in the past year.

BarBara Brown :Cru egyptBarb, who resides in Egypt, reports that she was recently part of orienting 400 interns who will be assigned to ministry in various countries of the world. Many of these are not from the West, but from other, non-western countries. About 40 of these will go the eight locations in North Africa and the Middle East, primarily to places that do not yet have national CRU staff. Barb currently is fulfilling an H.R. role within CRU (Campus Crusade) for the region of North Africa and the Middle East.

the stadia groupThis national and international church planting organization is a partner with CCC in our two current U.S. church plants, Revive Church and Community Life Church. Stadia reports that this year they have planted 51 churches in communities in the U.S. and Latin America. One exciting Kingdom development is that Stadia Group has partnered with Compassion to invest the funds from their child sponsor programs to help plant new churches in Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru. The Missions Pastor is planning a vision trip with Stadia to see a church plant in Ecuador soon.

mission of hope :haitiIt has been 17 years since Brad & Vanessa Johnson founded MOH – Haiti. Beginning with 200 students in a single school , it has now grown to over 6,000 students! Since Haiti is the poorest country in this hemisphere, MOH invests significant resources in providing food and meeting basic medical needs. Their nutrition program currently provides 91,000 meals per day. This ministry reported it saw over 35,000 patients and 2,000 decisions for Christ in the first 9 months of last year.

international students inC.ISI reports that currentl y 1.1 mi l l ion international students study in the U.S.(4.3 million worldwide). Students often return home to positions of leadership in government, business, and academia. It is estimated that by 2025, 50% of all world leaders will have been international students. We can positively impact the world by sharing the love of Christ with them now! Please consider being a friend to an international student this year.

3 Ways to help with the HHH mission

16This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.ii corinthians 9:12

The ministry of His Helping Hands is off to a great start for 2016 as we help people with food, clothing, furniture, appliances, household items, refurbished computers and used automobiles. Most importantly, we share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with each client.

The HHH budget for the current fiscal year is $665,370. If you are interested in helping financially with the HHH mission, here are 3 easy ways:

Dillon’s Community Rewards Program:Dillon’s has allocated $2 million for community support during 2016. They will donate a percentage of your purchases to the non-profit that you designate. If you would like to designate His Helping Hands, just follow the steps below:

• Logontowww.dillons.com/communityrewards• Signintoyouronlineaccount,orcreateanewaccount,ifyoudon’thaveone.• ScrolldowntothebottomofthepagetoCommunityRewards.• ClickonEnrollNow.• FindandselecttheorganizationHisHelpingHands• TypeinHisHelpingHands• Typeintheorganizationnumber:13515

Fresh Hope Assistance:A local anonymous foundation has issued another matching 1:1 challenge grant of $12,500 to be designated for the Fresh Hope program. This foundation is impressed that 75% of the Fresh Hope graduates are now self-sustaining, i.e., they are no longer receiving any government assistance. Any financial gift for the Fresh Hope program will be matched by them up to a total of $12,500, to assist graduates who are attempting to live life out of poverty.

Electronic Change:HHH is in the process of enrolling in a program that will handle “electronic change”. This program will round up each purchase on your credit/debit card and the “electronic change” will be donated to a designated non-profit organization that you select. More information about this program will be available in the near future.

RegardlessofhowyousupportHHH,weappreciateyoumorethanwordscanexpress.Your generous gifts allow us to help many families in the Wichita community with practical household items. And, last year 312 people made a first-time profession of faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! Your financial gifts are producing eternal dividends! May God bless you throughout 2016!

Our 4th Upward Basketball League returns this Spring, with practices beginning in March. The league is for all K–6th graders.

As a parent of children involved in sports, it disturbs me to read stories about what is happening in the youth sports community. Youth athletics is now a negative, damaging environment that is causing 70% of children to quit organized sports by the age of 13.

With our Upward League, we strive to create the best sports experience we can for all by focusing on long-term development over short-term success. We have skilled, knowledgeable coaches who believe in developing the mental, athletic, spiritual and social sides to your child.
