The advenTure begins september 13-14! That weekend is the first teaching time in “The story,” an overview study of the bible from genesis to revelation.
Too many people see god’s Word as 31 unrelated books. but nothing could be further from the truth. god has One story to tell. each chapter in his book builds on the previous one and culminates with
his heavenly kingdom and our eternal reward.
Week after week, we will see god’s story unfold, how his grace and mercy is displayed through the promise and work of his son, Jesus. Many will read and experience the bible like never before.
Weekly studies of the same chapters in the adult worship services will also be taught in student and children’s ministries, Lifegroups and other bible studies.
“The story” bibles, compiled by Max Lucado and randy
Frazee, are available for only $5. stop by our
tables in the lobby after weekend services or in
the office during the week. information to purchase ebook or Kindle versions is available at our website, ccc.org.
“The story” is a powerful way to engage their people in bible reading like never before. as “The story” brings the bible to life, the broad scope of god’s message is penetrating hearts. People of all ages are being swept up in the story of god’s love and god’s plan for their lives. invite your friends, co-workers, and neighbors to also be a part of this life changing experience only god’s Word can provide.
each week will feature a portion of god’s Word, presented chronologically, beginning with creation and concluding with The end of Times the weekend of May 3-4. Pastor Welsh will preach the message, and the application of god’s truth will be presented at all age levels, including our little ones. This also offers an amazing opportunity for families to come together to discuss and apply god’s story of redemption.
adult Lifegroups will have dvd and study guide lessons. if you’re not a part of a Lifegroup, please consider joining one. We would like to invite you to attend our Lifegroup Connection, sunday, september 7th, 6:00–8:00pm in north Central Court. There you will have the opportunity to join an existing or newly formed group. groups will be offered most evenings of the week throughout the Wichita metro area. Most sunday morning growth Classes will also be using “The story” as their guide, and will have the opportunity to present aspects of genesis through revelation, unique from Lifegroups.

“The Story” and your Familyas you probably know by now, all of Central Christian is joining together to walk through “The story.” Our goal is to have all of us studying the same parts of the bible during this 31-week series. What does this mean for your family? When you get in the car to head home, the question is not, “What did you learn today?”; the question is, “What did you learn about Creation or Moses or david…?” “The story” does not end on the car ride home. if your kids are with us during weekend services, a bible study, small group, or aWana, then your family will receive additional resources for using “The story” throughout the week. To find out more about “The story,” we are asking all parents to come to a brief orientation the weekend prior to “The story” kick-off on september 13–14. The dates of these orientations are below and all will be held in the Chapel.
“The Story” Orientation:Saturday, September 6th – 7:00 – 7:30pmSunday, September 7th – 9:00 – 9:30amSunday, September 7th – 10:15 – 10:45amSunday, September 7th – 11:45am – 12:15pm
There are also additional resources we are making available to our families. These resources include books geared for elementary, preschool and toddler children. They vary in price and will be available for purchase at the Central Kids check-in counter. These resources are not required to participate in “The story,” but could be a nice addition to your family’s experience.
Fall Is here...It seems like just yesterday we were talking with our kids about get-ting out of school. Now, summer camp is over and school supplies are in high demand. This means it is time for Central Kids to get ready for some of the school year programs you know and love.
...and we are growing! We continue to see wonderful growth at the revive service and in Journey, our special needs program. With this growth comes the need for more volunteers. so in order to continue to offer the same excellent programming that we offer in all our other services, we need your help! if you have a heart to serve families that are a part of our weekend services, then Central Kids has a place for you! Whether you would enjoy holding infants, playing with preschoolers, praying with preteens or helping families find their way around our church, we have a place for you. To partner with us, please call the Central Kids office at 688-4400, or e-mail us at [email protected].

Abraham had all the wrong qualifications for being a founder of God’s nation: His relatives worshiped other gods in a country far from what would become the promised land; Abram and his wife, Sarah, were way beyond childbearing years —no children meant no people to populate God’s nation. God promisedthe impossible to Abraham, and Abraham watchedas the impossible occurred.

AWANAThe name aWana means “approved Workmen are not ashamed.” For Central Christian it means a chance to intentionally and consistently help to disciple our children. aWana is a program that uses scripture memory and evangelistic training to help children from 3 years to 5th grade to become and continue their journey as “fully devoted Christ Followers.” To register for this program, please go online to www.ccc.org/awana.
AWANA Kickoff is Wednesday, September 3rd @ 6:30pm with a Family Night in Central Court! On this night we ask our parents to attend the entire evening with their children. so make sure you sign up asaP! aWana’s first official night will be september 10th.
AWANA Leaders are needed! if you have a desire to help place god’s Word into a child’s heart, then we need you. The only requirement is that you can serve on Wednesday nights from 6:15–8:15pm. To be a part of this exciting ministry, please call the Central Kids office at 688-4400 or e-mail us at [email protected].
Friendship Cove (Childcare Ministry)
Fall is fast approaching and it is time for a new round of exciting bible studies and a season of Lifegroups. as you prepare to attend these exciting events, we in Friendship Cove (the childcare ministry of Central Kids) hope you will allow us to bless your family with the services of our ministry. To make your child’s time i n Friendship Cove as successful as possible, here are a few guidelines to remember when requesting childcare. Prior to each session in a new semester, you must register your child to reserve a space through the ministry hosting the program you will be a part of. This reservation allows for the Friendship Cove to plan accordingly and schedule the appropriate number of staff members. in Friendship Cove, we strive to make the childcare experience the best possible. God’s story of promise and prosperity moves from Jacobto his son Joseph. Of Jacob’s 12 sons, Joseph was clearlyJacob’s favorite, leading the rest of his boys to resent theiryounger brother. The family stress was heightened whenJacob gifted a beautiful coat to Joseph, but the last strawwas broken when Joseph told his brothers he dreamedthat one day they would all bow to him. A conspiracy washatched and Joseph’s life would change forever.

a healthy, happy environment following our Well Child Policy. To help us control the spread of sickness, we ask that you please keep your child at home when they are showing signs of a potentially contagious illness. if you need to make changes, or cancel a childcare reservation, please notify Tracey hunt using the Central Kids hotline: 316-425-0655.
To help make smooth transitions into and out of Friendship Cove, please keep the following in mind. it is very helpful if you label all of your child’s items prior to check-in. also, we recommend that you limit the number of personal belongs, such as toys, blankets, etc., to prevent them from becoming lost in the shuffle. For the safety and security of your child, we ask that only a parent or adult guardian come to pick-up.
hopefully, you find these friendly reminders helpful. if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Tracey hunt at 688-4400 ext. 1420 or via e-mail at [email protected].

God brought Moses out from the desert to rescuehis enslaved people from Egypt. He provided asure-fire way for them to stay on course, kepttheir shoes from wearing out, and even sentdaily meals. But their journey through thewilderness would not be an easy one. Itwould test the limits, and faith, of everyman, woman and child.
Deliverance October 4–5
The wisdom I’ve learned from life experience is to watch and see if a person’s actions match their words. Many people will come into my counseling office saying they want to trust a person who has broken their trust. I ask, do their words match their actions? They usually say, “No”. So I ask, “is that a safe or trustworthy person? Is this a pattern of their behavior?”
The next level of trust I believe after a person’s words and actions match, is praying about “flags” or things you notice in the relationship that give you a “check” in your spirit or gut. If the other person is a Christian seeking after God, you will usually see God work in that situation, or they will bring it up. This is the Holy Spirit working in our lives and our relationships.
Another level of trust I’ve learned from experience is letting God control my life. How does that work? Especially, when a lot of us grow up being independent with the message, “We can’t trust others to take care of us, we have to do it ourselves.” Give someone else control? Yikes. I had to get to the point, where circumstances in my life got me to the point to that I realized I have control over NOTHING! I had to get to the bottom and say, “OK Lord, I really do surrender AGAIN, at

another level.” It seems hard at the time, but if I’m thinking about it too much and trying to figure it out, that means I took it back, and then I make a choice to give it back to HIM. My feelings will finally catch up with my choice and I will realize my load feels much lighter, and I don’t have to figure this all out. I can pray and read my Bible, seek Godly advice, and then give it over. It is so amazing how much better each day goes if I ask for His help. I believe this is the most powerful prayer: “Help me, Lord!”
MOST Of uS HAvE GONE THrOuGH HurTS IN LIfE. usually the deeper the hurt, we learn to self-protect by putting up walls which enforces the message, “We do not trust others.” So how does that work as a Christian? How do we learn to trust when we’ve been hurt?

Scriptures that have meant a lot to me are the following:
1. Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him and He will act. — Psalm 37: 52. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge
Him, and He will make your paths straight. — Proverbs 3: 5-63. ALL of Psalm 274. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit. — Romans 15:135. But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by
the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. — Jeremiah 17: 7

it is interesting to note that the book of genesis records a time when Pharaoh provided a means of transportation for Jacob and his extended family. in that same spirit today, his helping hands (hhh) provides vehicles for families that need help with their transportation situations. hhh has the only program in Wichita that distributes vehicles to needy families.
since starting the vehicle program in 2010, hhh has distributed 67 vehicles to needy families in the Wichita area. some are single moms, some are coming out of incarceration and some are just struggling with the many challenges that life can bring. in addition, 18 vehicles have been sold to auto recyclers since the vehicles were not in good enough shape to make the necessary repairs. unfortunately, two vehicles have also been stolen from the facility during the past few years. We just view these as distributions without going through the proper process and without filling out the proper paperwork!
hhh obtains vehicles from donors who no longer have a use for a particular vehicle. any vehicle donation to hhh is tax-deductible. since we give the vehicles to needy families,
the tax deduction for the donor is based on the fair market value of the vehicle.
hhh accepts any type and/or condition of a vehicle. The vehicles that are in running condition are distributed to those in need. before distributing a vehicle, hhh insures the vehicle and buys a current license plate. after the new title is processed and received, we can then distribute the vehicle. This process ensures a smooth audit trail for any vehicle donation. The vehicles that are not suitable for distribution are sold to metal scrap yards and then those funds are used to repair some of the other vehicles.
One of our more notable car donations came from governor brownback. When he came to Wichita to survey the damage sustained in the Oaklawn tornado, he inquired about any local programs to help the Oaklawn residents who had lost their vehicles in the tornado. he was referred to hhh and we explained our program to him. a few days later, the governor donated a car that his son had been driving. This car was then distributed to one of the Oaklawn residents.
it is truly amazing to witness god’s guiding hand in the hhh vehicle program. a few years ago, we received a full-size van that was

CCC HOME. IMPROVEMENT.
equipped with an older version of an electric wheelchair lift. a few weeks after this donation, a man came to hhh inquiring about a vehicle that he could use to transport his elderly mother, who was confined to a wheel-chair. if you have a vehicle that you no longer need and would like to donate it to hhh, please call our office at 838-8528. The process is simple and the rewards are eternal! n
