David Welsh senior pastorPursuing the heart of God

That word has been on my heart as I have prayed for our church in 2016. The word carries several powerful meanings. Giving one work or a job. A requirement that often demands time. An action that involves others. To battle the enemy. To win the attention of another. To become interlocked.

All of those meanings carry spiritual overtones as well. My prayer is that every member and regular attender ENGAGE in the mission of Jesus Christ in the new year. We must interlock arms with each other, for there will be battles with our adversary. Each family member serving and sharing, committed to Jesus and His church.

It’s a new year. 2016 offers new challenges but also new opportunities. It’s time to seize the moment and to get serious about our relationship with Jesus and how it fleshes out in daily living. Answer the call. Pray right now as you finish this article, asking God to strengthen you as you dedicate this year to Him!

EngagE.

Organic. The word has become mainstream as of late, especially related to the

food we eat. It carries with it the idea of that which is natural and pure. That which is

non-organic has the potential for harm. Pastor David begins 2016 with a new sermon

series study on the book of James, entitled “Organic. Life as God Intended.” The pure

life is the motivation of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian. The world’s ways are

non-organic; spiritually deadly and cancerous. That path does not bring life. God offers

us practical “pure life” principles through Jesus’ brother that builds up the believer and

grows us closer to our Heavenly Father.

I am excited to kick off our 4th Upward Basketball League this spring! It is an honor to watch God use sports to reach people.

As a parent of children involved in sports, it disturbs me to read stories about what is happening in the youth sports community. Youth athletics is now a negative, damaging environment that is causing 70% of children to quit organized sports by the age of 13.

With our Upward League, we strive to create the best sports experience we can for all by focusing on long-term development over short-term success. We have skilled, knowledgeable coaches who believe in developing the mental, athletic, spiritual and social sides to your child.

Our league is for K5 – 6th graders, and the season will begin with practices starting the first week of March.

Register NOW!January 1 – 31: $65Feb 1 – Season: $70

Dear Central Family,

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement and the

wonderful ladies who provided food at the time of Thom’s passing.

We miss Thom very much each day, but know he is with the Lord.

Love in Christ, Nancy, Wesley & Rusty Moore

Thank you so much dear people of Central for remembering

my dad’s passing with a beautiful fall bouquet of flowers.

I have also appreciated the cards and hugs. You are

indeed a special church family.

Love in Christ, Kent & Joan Brummer

To our family at Central—our family would like to thank you

for the truly beautiful flowers you sent in memory of our

precious mom. It meant so much that in that way you were

able to help us honor her as we celebrated her life.

With much love, Leslie Snodgrass, Jeff, Tony & Megan
