to further our mission to provide a safe and medically-sound camp for children with serious illnesses free of charge. of the special tribute gifts that Camp Boggy Creek has received over the past year. On the following pages we are pleased to share the names of the 2015 honorary and memorial gift recipients with each donor’s name listed below the honoree’s name. As you read through the list of names, we hope that it will bring to mind fond memories of loved ones and the times spent with the special people in your life.

HOWARD BANASZAK:REMEMBERING A FRIEND

Howard was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was the oldest of three children born to Stanley Joseph and Anna Banaszak. The family moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1936.

Howard met his beloved wife, Sarah Lee, while in College. Howard attended the University of Florida and Sarah Lee attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee. Howard often described their first encounter as “love at first sight.” After marrying, the Banaszaks resided in Hollywood, Florida and started a family, having two children; Howard and Grace Ann. In 1964, Howard founded Banaszak Concrete Corporation. Sarah Lee and Howard worked tirelessly building the company into one of the most successful and respected concrete companies in South Florida, which celebrated its 50th year of operation in 2014. Upon retirement, Howard and Sarah Lee enjoyed international travel and spending time at their home in North Carolina.

Howard and Sarah Lee have been special friends of the Camp, having provided the major gift to build the Camp’s Little Farm. Their daughter Grace Ann had heart disease and they knew firsthand how children with serious illnesses would benefit from having this

special activity area. Grace Ann never attended Boggy Creek, having passed away prior to the Camp opening in 1996. The Little Farm was built in memory of Grace Ann and the Banaszaks provided an Endowment gift to continue this program in perpetuity for the future campers of Boggy Creek. The Little Farm continues today as one of the most popular activity areas. Every summer, the Little Farm petting zoo is filled with fun and excitement…miniature horses, geese, goats, pot-belly pigs, and rabbits. Over the years the Banaszaks have continued to support Camp, sponsoring our Heart Family Retreat weekends and supporting Camp’s Summer Nurses.

Howard will be remembered for his integrity, his wisdom, his resiliency, as well as his sense of humor. His business acumen was exceptional, exceeded only by his generous nature and his unyielding dedication to his family and church.

Howard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sarah Lee Banaszak; son, Howard Banaszak and wife,

Diane of Fort Lauderdale, their children, Olivia Haggerty and Annagrace Pfister, and great-grandchild, Amelia Haggerty; brother, Merle Banaszak; and sister Kathryn Hutchins.

The Founders, Board of Directors and Staff of Camp Boggy Creek extend sincere condolences to the entire Banaszak family. Howard is remembered fondly and dearly missed by all that knew him.

DAY OF REMEMBRANCEEach year in October, Camp Boggy Creek hosts a Day of Remembrance to celebrate and remember all those who made a difference and for whom a heartfelt memorial gift was given. Many friends and family members joined Camp staff and volunteers to reflect and remember their loved ones. Guests were invited to inscribe their loved ones’ names on stones which were placed in a special rock garden located on Camp grounds. HOW YOU CAN CONTINUE TO HELPSHARE our mission with others, especially with families who could benefit from our Camp.

VOLUNTEER by serving as a camp counselor, assisting with events or providing medical care.

GIVE by funding a campership, engaging your corporate giving program or making an additional donation.

Camp Boggy Creek has made it possible

for children with serious illnesses to enjoy a

camp experience in a safe, medically-sound

environment. Camp is a place of dreams

and possibilities. A place where over 70,000

campers and family members are able to forget

the word “no” for a little while and embrace

The Joy of Yes. Located just a short drive from

Orlando, Florida, the 232 acre camp serves

children ages 7–16 who’ve been diagnosed with

chronic or life-threatening conditions such as

cancer, sickle cell anemia and epilepsy.

to attend and never asks them to contribute
