Three UW-Washington County student athletes werenamed to the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference (WCC)Team in basketball. Selected to First-team All-conference wasEvan Rathke; Second team was Tim Pridemore andHonorable mention was Katelyn Laatsch.

This is the second year that Rathke was selected for theWCC first team – all conference. Last season, he also wasnamed the WCC Player of the Year. He will be transferringto UW-Platteville in the fall and playing for their team nextseason. Team captain while at Random Lake High Schooland at UW-WC, Rathke “is an absolutely amazing humanbeing and an excellent student with tremendous character”according to UW-WC basketball coach Steve Murphy.“Though soft spoken, he is always very positive and is high-ly respected by teammates and opponents alike for his workethic and demeanor.”

Rathke was the all-time leading shot blocker in highschool, and he averaged nearly two per game this seasonfor UW-WC.

Conference statistics (9 games played): 46 percent fieldgoal, 55 percent free throw, 13.7 points per game, 5.8rebounds per game, 13 assists, 32 blocked shots, 20 steals, and 1 turnover per game.

A graduate of Hartford Union High School, TimPridemore, “is a highly versatile athlete that can play anyposition but he excels at point guard and shooting guard”according to Murphy. Murphy said Pridemore “gives everyounce of effort he has in every game - willing to sacrifice hisbody by driving hard to the hoop and sometimes getsknocked to the floor, but he always gets right back up quick-ly and immediately gets himself back into the action.”

Conference statistics (all 10 games) : 45 percent fieldgoal, 75 percent free throw, 14.4 points per game, 6.9rebounds per game, 23 assists, 8 blocked shots, 22 steals,14 3-pointers

to basketball coach Angela Rintelman, she is the “type ofplayer every coach dreams of - displaying hard work andhigh effort - both on and off the court.” A nursing major,Laatsch made the Dean’s list with High Honors this past fall. She also led her team in many different categories. Out ofthe nine games played, she had a total of 166 points for anaverage of 18.4 per game. Kate had a total of 128rebounds, giving her an average of 14.2 per game. She alsohad 24 blocked shots. Voted co-captain of the team, Kate’spresence on the court was known. When Kate has complet-ed her perquisites courses at UW-WC, she plans on trans-ferring to either UW-Madison or The University of Minnesota– Twin Cities and continue her education by completing aBachelor of Science in Nursing Degree.

Voigt led all scorers with 26 points.“I can’t say enough positive things about

our seniors. Both Mikayla and Kari have donesuch a wonderful job not only this year butevery year they’ve been on our varsity,” Walzsaid. “But this year this is their team, this istheir time to lead and go. They’re the ones

who said we’re not going to be dtook over the game.”

Walz said his team did a gomoving the ball around even as defense focused on stopping Voigt

Kettle Moraine Lutheran Whitewater in a game that begins

March 13. Three of the Chargersthis season are to team that also qthe state tournament.

The Chargers are the defendin3 champions. Walz noted the segoing to state is “unique.”

The partials I have had since December have beenadjusted and fit good but make my mouth just feel souncomfortable some days. The tops make my mouth feel

really full and bulky even though they don’t hurt. I havebeen a lot happier since I got partials as now I am able tosmile and my lips look fuller so my face doesn’t seem todroop. I am in advertising so having nice teeth and talkingproperly is extremely important to me. I want otheralternatives to just regular partials. I'm missing almost allback teeth except for two, so I have upper and lower partialscurrently with the clear clips. Lastly, can you tell me if insurance will pay for this?

Dear Lisa, I am glad you received partials and areadapting to them! I refer to partial dentures and dentures astemporaries in my practice. That is because I want everypatient to have stable teeth, which ideally stay in yourmouth and don’t have to be removed at night. While noteveryone is a candidate for fixed implant dentistry itcertainly is a great goal.

When people wear partials-even comfortable partials-many things happen. First you lose bone where your backteeth were pulled. The lack of roots in the bone cause thebone to deteriorate and the movement of the partials adds tobone loss. Next, you get expansion of the maxillary sinuses. This is because the roots of the back teeth hold the sinusesup and when the teeth are removed the sinuses expand in aprocess called pneumatization. Lastly, the clasps of partialsmove when you chew on the false teeth. This movement isaccentuated on the clasped teeth which often become loseand need to be removed at a later date.

So the solution is to have dental implants and fixedbridges. If you have bone loss or the sinuses have expandedyou may require sinus lifts and or bone grafting prior toplacement of implants. Placing implants will stimulate andpreserve bone. Loss of teeth and rubbing on your skin bypartials cause bone loss. So our goal in dentistry is topreserve bone at all costs! So placing implants before toomuch bone loss has occurred will greatly preserve youroptions as you age. I lecture to other dentists aboutUpgradeable Dentistry, which allows people to go fromdentures to implant supported dentures or even implantsupported bridges as their budget allows. So even thoughinsurance doesn’t cover this level of complex dentistry we

offer interest free financing to help you achthat will preserve your bone and your optioyour life according to your budget.

    Yo u c a n v i s i t o u r w e bwww.hamptondentalassociates.com for vitestimonials and to learn about options that to get rid of your partial dentures.

Wearing partials is a great first step towyour mouth. Moving on to the next step birreversible bone loss is the next step in journey and we would be honored to help next level of care to improve your smile, and your self-esteem.

We offer complimentary consultations ancomprehensive examination and x-ray visidetermine the treatment that’s right for youof our readers to call us at 414-464-9021 tovisit today!Yours for better dentistry,Dr. Richard Winter MAGD, DICOI, DABO

The following information was taken fromthe Centers for Disease Control Website.

Among cancers that affect both men andwomen, colorectal cancer (cancer of thecolon or rectum) is the second leading causeof cancer deaths in the United States. Everyyear, about 140,000 Americans are diag-nosed with colorectal cancer, and more than50,000 people die from it. But this disease ishighly preventable, by getting screened begin-ning at age 50.

What You Can Do•If you’re aged 50 to 75, get screened

for colorectal cancer regularly. Screening testshelp prevent colorectal cancer by finding pre-cancerous polyps (abnormal growths) so theycan be removed. Screening also finds this can-cer early, when treatment can be most effec-tive.

•Be physically active.•Maintain a healthy weight.•Don’t drink too much alcohol.

•Don’t smoke.Colorectal cancer screening saves lives.

Screening also helps find colorectal cancer atan early stage, when treatment often leads toa cure. About nine out of every 10 peoplewhose colorectal cancers are found early andtreated appropriately are still alive five yearslater.

While screening rates have increased inthe U.S., not enough people are gettingscreened for colorectal cancer. In 2012, 65%of U.S. adults were up-to-date with colorectalcancer screening; 7% had been screened, butwere not up-to-date; and 28% had never beenscreened.

(Data source: Centers for Disease Controland Prevention (CDC). Vital Signs: Colorectalcancer screening test use—United States,2012. MMWR 2013;62(44):881–888.)

Fast FactsRisk increases with age. More than 90%

of colorectal cancers occur in people aged50 and older.

Precancerous polyps and colorectal can-cer don’t always cause symptoms, especial-ly at first. You could have polyps or colorectalcancer and not know it. That is why having ascreening test is so important. If you havesymptoms, they may include—

Blood in or on the stool (bowel move-ment).

Stomach pain, aches, or cramps that donot go away.

Losing weight and you don’t know why. These symptoms may be caused by some-

thing other than cancer. If you have any ofthem, see your doctor. Some people are at ahigher risk than others for developing col-orectal cancer. If you think you may be at highrisk, talk to your doctor about when and howoften to get tested.

There are several screening test options.Talk with your doctor about which is right

for you.Colonoscopy (every 10 years).High-sensitivity fecal occult blood test

Happy... St. Patrick’s Day Happy... St. Patrick’s DayShamrock Used by St. Patrick to Reveal the Godhead! Many viewed the Shamrock are representing rebirth and eternal life prior to Patrick’s arrival in Ireland. Legend credits Patrick with teaching the Irishthe doctrine of the Godhead, the Trinity by showing the 3-leafed Shamrock. “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, theWord (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7, King James Bible). St. Patrick preached in western Ireland, openair on the “Hill of Slane, County Meath” explaining the Godhead, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus said on earth, “I am the way, thetruth and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6).

Receive the Son to Know the FatherHow Does This Relate to Us? Would Not St. Patrick Try to Get You to Come to God Through His Son?

Very, very much so because our eternal destinies are determined by the acceptance or rejection of the Word of God. Jesus, the eternal Son of the Father, with no beginning is called the Word in the gospel of John. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made.” John stathat Jesus was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew Man not. He came unto his own, and his own received

him not, but as many as received him , to them gave he power to become the children of God, even to them that believe on his name. Jbore God’s wrath on the cross for your sins, shedding His innocent blood to wipe your slate clean, suffered, bore your guilt, humiliation, abandonmentand rejection by men and God. He bore your punishment and went to hell in your place. Receive Jesus today as your Savior, turn from your sins to God,believe that God raised Him from the dead. and accept Him as Lord of all your life! Jesus will forgive you of any sin no matter how many, how hideous.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlastinglife. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. If you are still livi(in reality dying) in your sins, then confess your sins to Him, and ask Him to save you right now. He will come in, and you will be indwelt by the HolySpirit, the third Person of the Godhead, and God the Almighty Father will become your Father! You can now call Him “Abba” Father, which meDaddy. Jesus will clean you up through His Word, the Holy Bible. You will sense God working in your life by the inner dwelling and witness of the HolySpirit, and He will lead you to pray and guide you in all areas of your life. God will give you peace in your soul, an amazing love back to God and for aothers, and a joy in your heart! Dave 414-453-5982
