Prayer of Preparation:

As we gather as God's people let us pray together:

God of love and peace, you know what we think and feel.

Touch our hearts that our thoughts and actions may be good so that we

may love you and honour you, through Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN.

The Summary of the Commandments:

‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord

your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your

mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first

commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as

yourself.’

The Confession

Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God's

forgiveness.

God of mercy and grace,

we have sometimes thought wrong things,

and done wrong things and

we have not always loved each other as we should.

We are sorry.

Forgive us and help us to love and obey you,

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in

faith: pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in

Prayer of the Day

Eternal God,

you have taught us that the night is far spent

and the day is at hand:

keep us awake and alert, watching for your kingdom,

and make us strong in faith,

so that when Christ comes in glory to judge the earth,

we may go out joyfully to greet him;

and, with all your saints, may worship you for ever;

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The LORD said: I made a wonderful promise to Israel and Judah, and the days

are coming when I will keep it. I promise that the time will come when I will

appoint a king from the family of David, a king who will be honest and rule

with justice. In those days, Judah will be safe; Jerusalem will have peace and

will be named, “The LORD Gives Justice.”

Then Jesus told them a story: When you see a fig tree or any other tree

putting out leaves, you know that summer will soon come. So, when you see

these things happening, you know that God’s kingdom will soon be here.

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE COMMUNION

{Celebrant} We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.

We who are many are one body,

For we all share in the one bread.

Come let us take this holy sacrament of the body and blood of Christ in

remembrance that he died for us, and feed on him in our hearts by faith

with thanksgiving.

Baptised Christians who receive communion in their own church

are invited to share communion with us.

Communion wine may be received:

(a) from the common cup from the first of the two Eucharistic Assistants.

(b) by intinction from the second of the Eucharistic Assistants where a small

part of the wafer is carefully dipped in the wine, or

(c) from an individual glass on request from the first Eucharistic Assistant.

Or you may choose to receive the wafer only (Communion in one kind).
