In this special calendar issue of BACKSTAGE PASS: A tribute to the classic attraction posters of Walt Disney Imagineering, plus two exciting new additions to Fantasyland in Disneyland® Park!

Michael Colglazier, President, Disneyland® Resort

As many of you have heard, I have just returned to Southern California as president of the Disneyland® Resort. Like many of you, my excitement and passion for The Happiest Place on Earth began when my parents brought me to the Park when I was a child. I remember eating popcorn on Main Street, U.S.A., meeting Mickey Mouse for the first time, and never wanting to leave. That first trip—and all of the trips that followed with my parents, friends, and now with my own family—created memories that I will never forget. And that, after all, is what the Disneyland® Resort is all about. After meeting hundreds of Cast Members and Guests throughout my first couple of weeks, I can’t tell you how excited I am to be here and how proud I am to be part of this team.

As you are aware, the past year has been an incredibly exciting one at the Disneyland® Resort with the openings of Buena Vista Street, Cars Land, and most recently, Fantasy Faire. We’ve also been working to enhance your Passholder experience through Limited Time Annual Passholder Magic which will give you even more opportunities to create lifelong memories with your friends and families.

More Limited Time Annual Passholder Magic means more reasons this

is the best year ever to be an Annual Passholder!

On behalf of all of the Cast Members at the Disneyland® Resort, thank you for being part of our family. And if you see me in the Parks, please stop me to say hello. I would love to thank you in person.

“Hello to all of our Disneyland® Resort Passholders!”

On the Cover: Poster Art of the Disney Parks

Since the 1950s, the artists of Walt Disney Imagineering have been capturing the wonder, excitement and imagination of Disney Parks attractions in a series of fun and colorful posters. In this special issue of Backstage Pass, we celebrate these delightful works of art with a selection of images featured in the new book from Disney Press, Poster Art of the Disney Parks (available at the Disney Gallery in Disneyland® Park). We hope they add a touch of Disney magic to each and every one of your days this year!

FOLLOW THE CLUES

below to find four hidden gems (including a clever nod to the location’s former in-“carnation”) in the new Fantasy Faire:

3When night has fallen, listen carefully for the tower’s tune. Then watch closely as the locks that grow begin to glow.

3Look for Figaro perched up high, and see him wake to a chirpy tune.

3While in the square of Fantasy Faire, look for the music box filled with fools. Turn the crank and see everything turn “Topsy Turvy.”

3Set your gaze high in search of a crest—a shield on which three carnations rest. (Can you guess what “CPG” is a reference to?)

Discover the newest “crown jewels” of Fantasyland— Fantasy Faire and Fantasyland Theatre.

Next time you’re in Disneyland® Park, if you haven’t already, you absolutely must make a queen-beeline for the enchanting realm of the new Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland. Created in classic storybook style, Fantasy Faire is not only the perfect place to rub elbows with royalty (you can meet as many as three Disney Princesses in the Royal Hall), it’s also home to one of the funniest stage shows you’ve ever seen—thanks to the comedic talents of Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones. Prepare to have your sides split as

these silly storytellers re-create beloved Disney fairy tales in their own hilarious style in the Royal Theatre.

And speaking of unforgettable shows, starting May 25, don’t forget to make your

way over to the Fantasyland Theatre for a performance of Mickey and the Magical Map—starring everyone’s favorite Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Watch and listen as the wise sorcerer Yen Sid tells of a map so powerful it can take dreamers to any place imaginable. When Mickey tries to fill in the final unfinished spot on the map, he magically finds himself on a fantastic adventure that takes him…East to Adventure Islands, West to Dream Village, North to Celebration Peaks and South to Friendship Woods!
