Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome!
Thanks for joining the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We are blessed through your presence
and prayerful participation. May this sacred time strengthen your faith and lift your spirit. Do you remember when these last two weeks of August were prime days for vacation? Families would plan time at the beach before school opened. Not so today! Today, students and their families have settled in, back home, for Fall sports. Football, soccer, cross country, field hockey and others have started preparations for a new season. In these beginning days of practice and instructions, the athletes will be encouraged by coaches and parents to “hang in there,” to persevere during these initial hot days. In a sense, these athletes will be hearing the words from today’s Reading from the Letter to the Hebrews, “persevere in running that race that lies before us.” These words, though, are meant not just for athletes, but for all of us. We are all challenged to persevere through the trials of life on our journey to God’s Kingdom. How do we make our race to God’s Kingdom smoother? How do we overcome the obstacles this life puts in front of us? The Letter to the Hebrews recommends we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. We are to focus on Jesus as a role model for “He endured the cross.” “He endured ...opposition from sinners.” Fixing our eyes on Jesus, we are to “rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us.” What does it mean to you to keep “our eyes fixed on Jesus.”? Peace be with you! God bless,
Fr. McKee

Changing a tradition??? Traditionally (over 20 years), the Parish has sponsored a Parish Picnic. This year the Picnic Committee is sponsoring something “new!” “Dining Under the Stars at Sacred Heart” is replacing the Parish Picnic. It is to be a social gathering for parishioners where they catch up with one another and enjoy dining under the stars.
We will be closing the Church parking lot on Saturday morning September 14, after the 8:30am Mass. A tent, tables and chairs will set up for the evening. Handicapped parking will be available next to the Church for the Vigil Mass. Everyone else is asked to parking in the school lot for 5:00pm Liturgy. Everything will be taken down for Sunday Masses. This is a BYOB event! Local establishments will provide a variety of food selections for your enjoyment. Plan now to join us! Tickets are limited!
