Sagebrush suit/countersuit
In mid-March, two-time PGA Tourwinner & co-designer of Sagebrush Golf& Sporting Club Richard Zokol launcheda civil lawsuit against the current Sage-brush owners. He is seeking special dam-ages, including a design fee of $200,000he alleges was never paid.
Today, the owners (Zokol's former part-ners) are counter-suing for more than $42million, the amount they claim has beensunk into the money-losing golf course.
They say Zokol didn’t deliver onpromises he made: an exclusive high-endprivate course, individual membershipsselling for $200,000 and 31 lots overlook-ing Nicola Lake selling for $500,000 each.
The sale of the lots and membershipswere intended to help cover constructionof the golf course and amenities, the cur-rent owners say they spent $27 million on Sagebrush. None of the lots have been soldand only a few memberships were sold at reduced prices. They report that Sagebrushcontinues to post operating losses of about $125,000/month. Source: Vancouver Sun
