Newsletter - January 2012 Co-Presidents Linda DeWitt and Brenda Pritchett along with Co-Vice- Presidents Cheryl and Meryl Hollar wel- comed us to the Ozark Mountains for the 77th annual convention of the Interna- tional Twins Association. This was our first time to visit Branson and our officers planned a show-filled time. For those arriving in Branson early, a tour around town and on the water was provided by a Ride The Ducks excursion on Thursday. The day was a little warmer than usual, but all had a fun time quacking about town. Holiday Hills Golf Course hosted a group of golfers Friday morning for the Double Trouble Golf Tournament. On Friday afternoon, 69 people took in the Todd Oliver and Friends show. Royce & Boyce Peeples were invited to the stage to be a part of the show. All re- ports were that it was very funny. Friday evening we gathered in the con- vention center and received a welcome from the mayor of Branson. Afterwards, a group of 130 boarded buses and attended the show SIX. We ate dinner in the bal- cony and then enjoyed incredible enter- tainment. Everyone expected top notch singing, which we got, but the side- splitting comedy was a bonus. Saturday morning, a group of nearly 90 attended the 12 Irish Tenors performance. Reviews were very good as all enjoyed the vocal performance. The first part of Saturday evening was spent at Dolly Pardon’s Dixie Stampede. We enjoyed dinner and the North versus South competition following. From there, we traveled over to the Acrobats of China show. We saw incredible acrobatic feats for nearly 2 hours. Sunday morning included our Gospel Time with singing and an inspirational message. Sandy Meyer led candle lighting in memory of our lost twins. Co-Presidents Linda DeWitt and Brenda Pritchett conducted the Sunday morning business meeting. Sandy Meyer was elected President for 2012! Jean Kelly and Joyce Peterson were elected Co- Vice Presidents. Cary, Chris, and Charles Clark will serve the second of three years as Co-Secretary-Treasurers. We look for- ward to a return visit to the Twin Cities for the 2012 ITA convention. For our 2013 convention, we will head west to Las Ve- gas, Nevada for another first time stop. On Sunday evening, we enjoyed a din- ner, dance, and talent show. We appreci- ate those who performed for us. During dinner, a Silent Auction with all donated items was held. We had a great response in both the number of items and the bid- ding. We also held our traditional 50-50 drawing and had a rather nice pot to split. This year’s Royalty were Queens Cath- erine Olinger & Kathleen Jessie and Kings Ralph & Lindsey Cunningham. We danced to tunes played by Travel Tunes. Monday morning found many of us eating breakfast, buying pictures, and say- ing our farewells in & around the hotel. We all enjoyed our time in Branson and missed those of you that were unable to make it. On behalf of your 2011 ITA officers, Sheryl & Meryl, Cary, Chris & Charles, we would like to thank everyone who joined us in Branson, MO for the 2011 convention! We want to say how much we appreciated Sheryl & Meryl, especially for their work on the gospel hour & the excellent job getting the news media to cover our conven-tion! We want to say thank you to the Clarks for working to provide detailed financial reporting, PayPal, registra-tion, the ITA website & so much more they do and to their families (Janet, Debbie, Linda & Dakota) for all they do for ITA all year long. We had such a great team of officers & family support! We also want to thank our hubbies Jeff & David, our sons Jason & Austin who are always there to support us, pitch in & participate where needed. We hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful Hilton, activities & the many shows we attended (Ride the Ducks, Todd Oliver & Friends, SIX, 12 Irish Tenors, Dixie Stampede & Acrobats of China). One of the highlights was the wel-come by Branson Mayor, Raeanne Presley, who acknowledge our long time member Glad Werner. We want to thank everyone for the Silent Auction donations; we had a record of over 90 items! We want to recognize some who assisted behind the scenes, Glad, Marilyn, Nadine & Marlene, Jeanette & Geneva and Leland. We also want to thank Sandy, our gospel twin friend Millie, Ray, Marijane & Nancy. We hope you enjoyed the research groups from Pur-due University and Mount Sinai School of Medicine and want to thank you on their behalf for participating in their studies. As always, when you have to keep your letter short & sweet, we say thank you to everyone not mentioned by name for your help. It is YOU, the ITA members that make our convention so special each year & we want to say THANK YOU for coming and making Branson so much fun! Hope to see you all in Minneapolis in 2012! ~ Linda & Brenda, ITA Co-Presidents 2011
