HOW DOES THE CHRUCH HELP CATHOLICS TO ADDRESS POLITICAL AND SOCIAL QUESTIONS? Doing Good and Avoiding Evil There are some things we must never do, as individuals or as a society, because they are always incompatible with love of God and neighbor. These intrinsically evil acts must always be rejected and never supported. A preeminent example is the intentional taking of human life through abortion. It is always morally wrong to de-stroy innocent human beings. A legal system that allows the right to life to be violated on the grounds of choice is fundamentally flawed. Similarly, direct threats to the dig-nity of human life such as euthanasia, human cloning, and destructive research on human embryos are also intrinsically evil and must be opposed. Other assaults on human life and dignity, such as genocide, torture, racism, and the targeting of noncombatants in acts of terror or war, can never be justified. Disrespect for any human life diminishes respect for all human life. As Catholics we are not single-issue voters. A candi-date’s position on a single issue is not sufficient to guar-antee a voter’s support. Yet a candidate’s position on a single issue that involves an intrinsic evil, such a support for legal abortion or the promotion of racism, may legiti-mately lead a voter to disqualify a candidate form receiv-ing support. Opposition to intrinsically evil acts also prompts us to recognize our positive duty to contribute to the common good and act in solidarity with those in need. Both opposing evil and doing good are essential. As Pope John Paul II said, “the fact that only the negative commandments oblige always and under all circum-stances does not mean that in the moral life prohibitions are more important than the obligation to do good indi-cated by the positive commandment” (Veritatis Splendor, no.52). The basic right to life implies and is linked to other human rights to the goods that every person needs to live and thrived, including food, shelter, health care, education, and meaningful work. The use of the death penalty, hunger, lack of health care or housing, human trafficking, the human and moral costs of war, and unjust immigration policies are some the serious moral issues that challenge our consciences and require us to act.

En el evento de salud del día domingo

pasado (Feb.3), se hicieron evaluaciones de salud para ver si estaban en condición de donar sangre a mas de 60 feligreses de los cuales se colectaron 38 unidades , también se hicieron mas de 60 exámenes de la presión

arterial , 25 exámenes de niveles de masa corporal, además de 15 evaluaciones básicas de la memoria y

evaluaciones de depresión. Todo esto fue posible gracias al equipo de donación de sangre del Sistema de Salud y Servicios de Providencia San Joseph Hospital así como a

los ministros y voluntarios del Ministerio de Salud de de la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Santo Rosario y

principalmente a los feligreses que participaron. Ruego a Dios para que los siga guiando para ayudar a nuestros

hermanos que nos necesitan, Grace FCN RN.

ESTA CUARESMA: COMPARTA CON LOS POBRES Esta Cuaresma acudimos a la generosidad de la gente de la parroquia para las necesidades de la CASA DEL MIGRANTE en Tijuana. Nuestros hermanos emi-grantes mas necesitados necesitan su ayuda y que me-jor momento que la Cuaresma para ayudarlos. En este momento la casa necesita comida enlatada o no-preservada, artículos de limpieza de cocina y de pi-sos, artículos de higiene, como pasta dental, cepillos de dientes, rastrillos desechables para afeitar, barras de jabón, peines, etc…Entregue estos donativos a la oficina parroquial entre semana. MINISTERIOS CON LOS PRESOS Cada primer Domingo del mes un sacerdote de la pa-rroquia celebra la Eucaristía en el Reclusorio de Me-nores de Sylmar. TARJETAS DE MISAS PERPETUAS Si una persona está enferma, necesitada de una oración, ó alguien de sus amigos ha fallecido, no hay mejor manera de enseñar su solidaridad con la familia afectada que pe-dir unas Misas Perpetuas de los Misioneros Scalabrinia-nos. Pase a la oficina de la parroquia entre semana para pedir esta tarjeta con la secretaria. De esta manera ayu-dan también las misiones de los Scalabrinianos. ¿SABIA USTED? Los padres, guardianes y los adultos que cuidan niños enfrentan retos constantes al intentar ayudar a mantener a los niños más seguros al paso rápido del mundo hoy en día.
