Shots can be further broken down into types

Each player can end a possession in one of six ways

Turnover (always zero points)

Since a turnover yields precisely the same result for all players

let x = number of players per team

let 5x + 1 = number of ways each team can end a possession


All statistical data for each player can be used to calculate PEEC stats.

Possession Evaluation Efficiency statistics

Points Per Possession (PPP)

Effective Field Goal Percentage (EFG%)

Turnover Percentage (TO%) and others...


All values for each PEEC stat can be plotted on a bell curve with a standard normal distribution.

PEEC stats are compiled per player and used to calculate standard deviation inflection points.


By applying a color continuum code to the sections between inflection

points, a hierarchy can be obtained.


Spreadsheets such as Numbers and Excel allow for conditional formatting of cells which facilitates the color coding of PEEC Stats and the presentation of a possession ended hierarchy in a statistical report.


It may also be possible to assign the conditional formatting to a game

flow/possession-by-possession report.
