STORE RE-DESIGN with TreeHouse Smart Building Supply Austin Texas, 2012
Shortly after opening, the store required a re-design to accommodate its changing retail needs. The new design integrated day-to-day function with larger concepts of education: the store itself becoming a tool for communicating the potential benefi ts of the products, materials, and systems within.

privacy fence
Steel planters were designed to give purpose and structure to herb gardens, which were strategically scattered throughout the garden, thereby making the most of diffi cult lighting conditions. The wood fence was designed to accommodate both the necessary light, as well as the clients privacy needs.

VEGETABLE TERRACEwith Mark Word Design Austin, Texas 2011
This demanding site called for a terraced vegetable garden, and a water management system that thoughtfully moved storm water across the site. A robust deer fence was necessary to protect the clients’ vegetable garden.

CLEAN ENERGY PARKat the University of Texas Austin, Texas 2009
The fingered-layout of 3 buildings facilitate the strategic movement of people and breezes across the park. As the earth falls away, additional daylighting becomes possible when desirable, and views of the prairie unfold from within the offi ce spaces. Operable shade structures hover above the facility, allowing for adaptable light conditions.

This project called for the re-design of a city park’s masterplan, with the addition of a water museum amidst Diego Rivera’s serpent sculptures and murals. Our idea for the museum became an educationally-interactive experience, tracking the movement and cleansing of water as it traversed the park.

The project became two buildings: a robust “fl oodable” structure on the land, serving as an anchor point on the Town Lake running trail; and a “fl oatable” boat hanger designed to accommodate for the rising waters possible during heavy rains.
