Secondary Stage 4 Science students have been learning about ‘Structure and Function’ of plants. They have also used plants to make diagrammatic pictures of landscapes. This week they will accomplish a soil preparation for the Bush Tucker Garden. The plants, including bush banana and a chewing gum bark tree, will be planted into the garden among many other native plants which will eventually be used in many other classes and for helping raise funds. Stage 4 Science students will construct compost bins, which are design to help reduce Greenhouse gasses and landfill problems. The compost will be used in the school gardens and will also be sold for school funding. Stage 5 Science Year 10 students have finished their School Certificate exams, and by the sounds of it they have done well. Our Yr 10 students are currently doing work experience to enhance their future employment prospects and knowledge for HSC courses. Mr Jeff Wilkes Science Teacher

Student input – This term in English we have learned about newspapers and how they are constructed. In Art we have been creating self portraits on lino, and then printing them in different colour paints. In HSIE we have been learning about the different kinds of maps, and graphs. Contribution by Morgan Primary At Friday’s assembly, Year 5 students demonstrated how proud they are to represent Mungindi Central School by presenting their captains speech to the Primary students and staff. They all confidently spoke about why they should be elected as School Captains in 2011. Students and staff in the Primary school nominated who they believe will best represent our school by selecting School Captains and School Sports Captains. Captains for 2011 will be announced at Mungindi Central School’s Speech Night. Congratulations to all the students in Year 5 for your commitment and confidence! All the classes in Primary are busily preparing for our School Speech Night. Class items include singing, artworks and short plays. Students are enthusiastic during class rehearsals and look forward to presenting them to parents, family members and the community in our new Hall (previously the Library). Our end of year excursion is fast approaching! Please remind your children how important it is for them to earn their Mungindi Money to be part of this fun adventure! Preschool

Preschool have been very busy putting up our Christmas tree and decorations around the room. There have been many talks about what the children would like for Christmas and we are writing a letter to Santa to make sure he remembers to visit Mungindi. There are not many weeks left at all before the end of the term so we will be organising our last get together in a couple of weeks. Please keep an eye out in your child’s bag for this notice! Preschool are getting their performances ready and are very excited about Big School next year. If there are any donations of old spare clothes, Preschool would love them! We hope you have an enjoyable week and a great weekend. Please don’t hesitate to contact Preschool if you need anything 02 67532692.
