RSNetWorx Demo CDWelcome to the RSNetWorx Demo CD.Includes RSNetWorx for ControlNet 3.23.00Includes RSNetWorx for DeviceNet 3.21.001997-2002 Rockwell Software Inc.Readme.doc 2002/03/28Topics in this file are:IntroductionInstallationHighlightsFor More InformationIntroductionRSNetWorx is the most advanced network management software package available today for use on ControlNet and DeviceNet networks. This software provides vital configuration and diagnostic features for these open networks, enabling you to achieve maximum productivity with your network installations. This Demo CD contains fully functional versions of RSNetWorx for ControlNet and RSNetWorx for DeviceNet. These Demo versions limit the number of devices that you can have in your network configuration. (see the following table):Network:Limitation:ControlNetOnly node addresses 1-4 are permittedDeviceNetOnly node addresses 0-6 are permitted (although Node Commissioning and Faulted Address Recovery [FAR] will work on any node address.)RSNetWorx is designed for the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems. The versions included on this Demo CD support: Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0 (Service Packs 3-6), Windows 2000, and Windows XP.InstallationPlace the Demo CD in your computer. If the Windows Autoplay feature is enabled, you'll see a "Welcome Screen" that directs you through the steps to install the software packages. If Autoplay is not enabled, you will need to run::\autorun.exe (where is the drive letter containing the Demo CD.)If you do not wish to install one of the networks, simply skip the steps that have network specific titles (for example, View ControlNet Tutorial or Install RSNetWorx for DeviceNet).Note: Any steps that appear on the Required Steps page, but are not network specific, should be followed.HighlightsThe list below provides highlights and details specific to the Demo CD. -Tutorial. To preview RSNetWorx features and functions, we highly recommend that you view a tutorial (in Microsoft PowerPoint [DeviceNet] and HTML [ControlNet] formats) on the CD's Optional page. You do not need to install the RSNetWorx software to view each tutorial. For your convenience, a free PowerPoint viewer and Internet browser are available on the CD. -Install RSNetWorx. This option installs the software on your computer. When you install the Demo version, you will be prompted for a serial number; enter the value 1234567890. Additionally, at the end of the installation process, you will be prompted to "Move Activation"; please click Cancel at this step. After you install the software, you can run it offline without an actual network present to get a feel for its operation. Alternatively, you may also run the Demo version on an actual network. In either case, please remember the limitations listed in the Introduction section. -RSNetWorx MD (Maintenance and Diagnostics) for DeviceNet. This add-on to RSNetWorx will also function in the Demo version, with the same restrictions noted in the Introduction above. This Maintenance and Diagnostic add-on allows you to reduce your troubleshooting time for DeviceNet by pinpointing problems and providing you with step-by-step corrective actions. Note: We plan to implement the RSNetWorx MD capability that you will see in DeviceNet with future ControlNet and EtherNet/IP releases.-Install RSLinx. RSLinx is Rockwell Software's communication package that enables RSNetWorx to communicate online to a network. You'll need to install RSLinx and use it to configure a DeviceNet or ControlNet driver if you want to enable online access. The tutorial describes how you "go online" using RSLinx.
