Adult Confirmation
When one receives the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Confirmation name is spoken and the Bishop puts Chrism Oil on the person’s forehead, says their name aloud, and then says, “Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit”. The person responds, “Amen”. Meaning, I do believe that I have received the gift of the Holy Spirit to enjoy its fruits and share it with others.
Please call the church office to register. Any ques-tions please call Keith Ellender at 528-0009.

The Knights of Columbus have again placed white crosses near the unborn memorial on the front lawn of the church in memory of the Roe vs. Wade decision of 1973, legalizing abortion.
The crosses represent a small portion of the ap-proximately 2500 abortions in the U.S. everyday.
This week thousands of people will gather in Washington, D.C. for the annual March For Life. As well as many other cities in the U.S. at various dates in January. Please pray for these people and an end to abortion.
We are collecting palms to make our ashes for Ash Wednesday.
There is a basket in the foyer or you can drop at the church office.

To the parents of young children, WELCOME, and may we suggest…
*Relax! God put the wiggle in children. Don’t feel you have to suppress it in His house. *Sit toward the front where it is easier for chil-dren to see and hear. *Quietly explain the par ts of the Mass. Sing the hymns, pray and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by imitating you. *If you leave Mass with your child, feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me; for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” *For children that need a “quieting room” you may go to the side chapel or the front foyer.
To our parishioners…
The presence of children here Is a gift to the parish!
*They are members of this community, and a reminder our parish is alive and growing. *The way we welcome children here directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, and to one another. *Let them know they are at home in this house of worship. *Please welcome our children and give a smile of encouragement to their parents.

TRUE PROPHETS
In Deuteronomy today we hear that God's very words will fill the mouth of a true prophet, but a false prophet will, in a manner of speaking, put mere mortal words into God's mouth. In Mark's Gospel, we see Jesus teach-ing and healing as a true prophet, one filled with the authority of God's own voice. The whole history of our church is filled with both true and false prophets. Some false prophets were extremely popular and quite well-versed in scripture, and even held positions of authori-ty. But in today's Gospel we learn that Jesus' fame spread because he taught with authority; he wasn't an authority because he was popular or famous. Else-where, we also learn from him, in his desert temptation confrontations with Satan, that anyone can quote scrip-ture, even against God's purposes. Today we hear that his authority was not like that of the scribes, who held the official positions of religious authority in his day. Our work is to do our best to discern the true prophets in our midst, and to be true prophets as well. The psalmist tells us how to do this: by not hardening our
