Dear Prospective Candidate,

We are delighted to announce the brand new Feltham Teacher Training Programme. We are seeking to recruit local people

interested in training to be teachers. This innovative programme offers candidates a salary for 15 months and provides ad-

ditional support beyond what would typically be provided on a teacher training programme.

We are looking for non-traditional candidates who would make great teachers. We will offer intensive, high quality support

to achieve Qualified Teacher Status and secure a permanent position in a local school. In addition to a day of training

weekly, intensive mentoring and high quality feedback on teaching feedback, candidates will also receive:

Eight weeks of daily coaching and support prior to the start of the training yeat to ensure that they are ready to

start the training year and maximise their chances of flourishing on the course;

Support around planning and other areas identified over the course of the year; and

Intensive support to apply and secure a permanent role at the end of the training year.

Candidates interested in applying should complete the Reach application form to apply for this programme (they will later

need to complete a UCAS form to confirm their place). Candidates need to have:

a degree, or relevant vocational or technical qualification

grade 4 (C) or above in English and maths GCSEs (or equivalent)

Candidates can apply to teach Primary or one of the following subjects at Secondary: English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry,

Physics, History, Geography or Modern Foreign Languages (French or Spanish).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to arrange a conversation with a member of our team by emailing recruit-

[email protected].

Safer recruitment process

Reach Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

In order to meet this responsibility all candidates will be subjected to a rigorous selection process to discourage and screen out unsuitable

applicants. This process is outlined below. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if further detail is required.

Disclosure This post is classified as having substantial access to children, and appointment is subject to an enhanced police check of previous criminal convictions

(CRB). Applicants are required, before appointment, to disclose any conviction, caution or binding over including ‘spent convictions’ under the Rehabilitation of Of-

fenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975. Non-disclosure may lead to termination of employment. However, disclosure of a criminal background will not necessarily

debar individuals from employment – this will depend upon the nature of the offence(s) and when they occurred. Short listing Short listing will occur after the closing

date Interview Candidates will be subject to an in-depth, in-person interview and assessment, along with a telephone interview in some circumstances. At each stage

of the process candidates will be asked to address any discrepancies, anomalies or gaps in their application form or arising from information gained at the previous

stage of the recruitment process. Reference checking References from the previous and current employers will be taken up for shortlisted candidates, possibly be-

fore interview, and where necessary employers may be contacted to gather further information or address any discrepancies, anomalies or gaps in the reference provid-

ed. Probation All new staff will be subject to a probation period (which may, in certain circumstances, be extended by up to 10 weeks). The probation period is a trial

period, to enable the assessment of an employee’s suitability for the job for which they have been employed. It provides Reach Academy with the opportunity to moni-

tor and review the performance of new staff in relation to various areas, but also in terms of their commitment to safeguarding and relationships with pupils. Equal Op-

portunities Reach Academy is dedicated to providing equal opportunities and will monitor the recruitment process rigorously to ensure fair access and opportunity

for all.
