Rotarians help Rotarian

Bob McDuffie puts in a Happy Dollar for the assistance of Rotarians in removing a tree from his home. Jeff Holtegel and his friend Jerome Heil came down from Ohio to help out those in need in SW Florida—Service Above Self!

Invocation

PDG Cyndi To Head DG Nominating Committee

Annette moved to Southwest Florida in 1989. She received a Masters degree in Archaeology from the University of South Florida and a Masters and Ph.D. in Ethnology and Museum Ethnography from the University of Oxford. She worked in historic preservation planning for several years and as an archaeologist for over 20 years. Annette also has museum experience. Her most recent work includes serving as Operations Manager at the Seminole Tribe’s Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum. On January 25th of this year, she began serving as the Historian for the Charlotte County Historical Center.

Serving as District Nominating Committee Chairman is one of my most important tasks this year and it involves guiding the selection process for the Rotary District Governor Election for 2020-21. To that end, we are reaching out to each of you to consider this most prestigious position. Your Club President should be making an announcement to your members very soon in this regard, as the Nominee requires an endorsement from their Club. We want to make sure every Rotarian in our District is aware of this opportunity to serve. I can assure you it has been one of Pete and my greatest privileges to serve in this capacity and I would encourage you to apply, as we seek the best candidate for the 2020-2021 Rotary Year! Your Club President and Club Secretary will be required to execute the following document on your behalf, and submit said document to me no later than October 20, 2017 by 5pm. Governor Nominee Form This form shall be completed by the applicant and submitted for signatures by the Club President and Club Secretary, then returned to me no later than October 20th. The Nominating Committee will convene and interviews will be scheduled for Saturday, November 11th, in Fort Myers. Once an application has been received, a specific interview time will be scheduled and the applicant will be so advised by me, as District Nominating Committee Chair. The applicant may also submit a Resume along with their application. NO HAND-WRITTEN FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED. If you wish to proceed, please contact PDG Cyndi for the Governor Nominee Form or speak with your Club President, as they have received a copy. Rotarians, should you have any questions in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at: 239-357-5758 (cell).

Today’s Speaker — Annette Snapp

Historian, Charlotte County Historical Center

May grace abound as we honor this gathering of Rotarians with our friends and guests. Help us remember to look for guidance when life does not treat us as we planned. Let us be optimistic and give proper thanks when our lives bring us joy. Amen

What is WASRAG? Water And Sanitation Rotary Action Group, of course. ASRAG works to foster global knowledge and collaboration for sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene. It provides the latest news, learnings and resources to water practitioners. Formed in 2007 by Rotarians, the program helps Rotary Clubs find partners for projects, ensuring sustainability, stressing the importance of a needs-driven approach and developing best practices.

Strengthening Membership Throwback Ponce

Rotary Three Week Calendar

Today our Greeter is Mark Payne, and our Bulletin Guest Editor is Mike Colgan Board Meeting immediately after this morning’s meeting

Jim Hageman and Steve Vollmer have Bingo on Thursday

We all know Harbor Rotary Member Darryl Keys is now District Membership Chair, as well as our Club Membership Chair. We should all know membership development is the responsibility of all Rotary members all year long.| Don’t miss out on the many valuable resources available for prospective and current members. Rotary International provides many tools that allow clubs to improve their members’ experiences so more prospective members join and more current members stay. RI has a video of President Ian Riseley speaking about the importance of membership flexibility. There is the Discover Rotary presentation and the prospective member brochure to introduce Rotary to prospects. At Rotary Brand Center, we can promote our unique experience, including events and projects; we can customize a club brochure. We can edit the content and upload our own pictures. If you haven’t, give it a try. We are all responsible for strong membership. It’s easy.

CANCELED
