P&I FILMThe Movie Distribution Company P&I Film entered the market in 2008. Among the variety of businesses engaged in movie rentals, P&I has chosen a distinctive field that has not yet been developed by Russian distribution companies. The distinctive feature of the company is supplying movie rentals to different regions of Russia. Insufficient release values often deprive local viewers of the chance to see excellent movies. Therefore, the company grants regions an opportunity to enjoy watching movies simultaneously with Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.The name of the company contains the word “intellectual“. Often dubbing in movies appears to be disappointing for viewers who wish to see a movie original. Thus, our company releases both dubbed movies and films with subtitles.Company representatives at EFM screenings: Marianna Ibragimovaphone: +7 926 245 71 76e-mail: [email protected]

JAYNE MANSFIELD’S CAR

Program: Competition

Director: Billy Bob Thornton

Countries: USA

Year: 2011

Language: English

Cast: Billy Bob Thornton, Robert Duvall, John Hurt,

Kevin Bacon, Robert Patrick

Script: B. B. Thornton, T. Epperson

Length: 122 minutes

Synopsis

A bittersweet meditation on the aftermath of war, “Jayne Mansfield’s Car” looks at two families, one Southern and

one British, in Alabama in 1969. Brought together by the death of a woman who was married first to Jim Caldwell

(Robert Duvall) and then to Kingsley Bedford (John Hurt), the families struggle with long-held resentments,

jealousy, fear of growing old and, most poignantly, the tension between three generations of fathers and sons

whose notions of manhood are shaped by their exposure to combat, its myths and realities.

ThE COnVOY (diE ÜBERFÜhRUnG)

Program: Panorama

Director: Alexey Mizgirev

Country: Russian Federation

Year: 2012

Language: Russian

Cast: Oleg Vasilkov, Azamat Nigmanov, Dmitry Kulichkov

Length: 81 minutes

Synopsis

Following a brawl, Captain Ignat, who is traumatised by the death of his daughter, is ordered together with a

regular soldier to find a deserter and bring him back via Moscow to stand before a military court. Although they

locate the young soldier, their journey across the wintry moloch that is Moscow is slow and tortuous. Before long,

the unlikely trio find themselves drawn into a chaotic maelstrom of violence, corruption, criminality, degradation

and squalidness. In the face of the monstrous malaise and everyday horror of life in Russia, the gradual breakdown

of the film’s anti-hero becomes a metaphor for Russian society. Pungent, dark, cold, bloody, dirty, merciless and with

no hope of redemption THE CONVOY is an atmospheric portrait of the country’s most important institutions – army

and police – seen here as a reflection of a society determined by the relationship between power and subjugation,

seniority and discipline, physical violence and a status-oriented, hierarchical way of thinking.
