A Stewardship Thought

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! And I really mean it!! These are ancient expressions, but are much needed in our world that has lost sight of Christ and what He means for us. Christ came to change the world, one heart at a time. Let him begin with my heart and your heart. Let his Gospel sink in and soak through. In the words of Pope Francis, “The world tells us to seek success, power and money; God tells us to seek humility, service and love.” This Christmas may God find us watching and waiting, our hearts filled with

wonder and love to receive Jesus. “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him,” (cf. John3:18). Without this Gospel, this good news, where would we be? Merry Christmas!

“Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you!”- LUKE 1:28

Faith is a gift from God. Take time in silence and thank Him for all the gifts He has given you. Try to set aside any anger or resentment you have and really open your heart to receive the gift of God’s mercy and forgiveness.

We can’t give what we don’t have. We need to receive God’s mercy and forgiveness first before we can give it to others.

Forward in Faith Prayer Heavenly Father, we thank you for all your blessings and for what you enable us to accomplish at Sacred Heart. By your

grace, may we move forward in faith, trusting that you will supply our every need in Christ Jesus, who lives and reigns

with you and the Holy Spirit. We pray through the intercession of Mary, our Mother. Amen.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE De las muchas tradiciones latinoamericanas para celebrar el Adviento y la Navidad, las Posadas parecen ser lo mejor conocido en EE. UU. Tienen su origen en la última mitad del siglo XVIII cuando las estrepitosas Misas de Aguinaldo dejaron de ser celebradas en México. Para remplazar la festividad de esas Misas, los laicos decidieron celebrar en sus casas tomando lo que habían visto dramatizado en los templos, esto es, el recorrido de José y María mientras buscaban posada en Belén. Como las “Antífonas de la O” de la liturgia oficial cristiana, estas Posadas llegaron a ser celebradas nueve noches consecutivas. 200 años después, muchos latinos continúan celebrando las Posadas en EE. UU. Recuerdo como de niño cantábamos “En el nombre del cielo” recorriendo las calles del barrio hasta llegar a la casa donde nos abrirían con cantos, tamales, galletitas y chocolate. Ese recorrido de José y María lamentablemente sigue todos los días en los pasos temerosos y cansados de tantos inmigrantes en este país. Como la Sagrada Familia, otras familias latinoamericanas continúan buscando hospedaje con la esperanza de dar a luz una nueva vida para sus hijos e hijas.

MENSAJE DEL PADRE FRED

Feliz Navidad y un próspero año nuevo! ¡ y lo digo en serio! Estas son expresiones antiguas, pero son muy necesarias en nuestro mundo que ha perdido de vista a Cristo y lo que él significa para nosotros. Cristo vino a cambiar el mundo, un corazón a la vez. Que este cambio empiece con mi corazón y con el tuyo. Deja que su evangelio entre profundo en tu corazón y se empape. El Papa Francisco con sus propias palabras dice, "el mundo nos aconseja que busquemos el éxito, el poder y el dinero; Dios nos dice que busquemos humildad, servicio y amor. " Esta Navidad que Dios nos encuentre observando y esperando, nuestros corazones llenos de asombro y amor para recibir a Jesús. "Dios amó tanto al mundo que dio a su único hijo, no para condenar el mundo, sino para que el mundo pudiera ser salvado a través de él" (Juan 3:18). Sin este evangelio, esta buena noticia, ¿Dónde estaríamos? ¡Feliz Navidad!
