    1. Purpose: This document highlights the Calibration process for Test Equipments in SAP PM.

    2. Inclusions in this document: Primarily to highlight the Data objects Process flo! !ith "ey

emphasis on additional process steps to be performed in Test Equipment Management

    #Calibration as "no!n in SAP$. Test Equipment Management is a PM % &M integration

functionality pro'ided in SAP &uality Management module. As &M module is currently not inuse !ithin (lu"a this document !ould stress on aspects of &M !hich are rele'ant to the

process and !ould be ne! to MPA process scope.

    3. Exclusions from this document) This document does not get into details of maintenance

order processing to a great depth as it is understood that users are adept in the process.

    (ntegration points are ho!e'er detailed !here'er rele'ant.

    4. Terminologies and Process:

Master (nspection Characteristics #M(C$) Master (nspection Characteristics signifies the

characteristics of a material*Test Equipment !hich !ill be obser'ed during (nspection and the'alue of the same Test recorded. +or e,ample) (n this document !e ha'e considered the Test

Equipment as a Pressure -auge !hose "ey (nspection characteristic #M(C$ !ould be

Pressure reading #!ould include o!er /eading 0pper /eading Mean /eading if rele'ant$.Master (nspection Characteristics for Test Equipment management should preferably be

maintained as master data in SAP to facilitate accurate and seamless Calibration

    Management process.

(nspection type) (nspection type is a term introduced from &M module. (t simply refers to the

source of (nspection. +or e,ample) (f the source of &uality inspection is -oods receipt

(nspection type is 12 if it is Production receipt it is 13 for Test Equipment Caliration !or"

it is 14 and so on. +or Calibration #Test Equipment Management$ scenario inspection type

23 should be used as demonstrated in this document.

(nspection point) (nspection points are used to identify objects under inspection. +or e,ample

% (nspection point to identify samples Inspection point to identif# $aintenance o%ects&

freely defined (nspection points and so on.

(nspection point 411 is used to identify Equipments for Calibration in Standard SAP system. A

    configuration snapshot belo!)

(nspection ot) (nspection ots are generated on a sample based on a specific trigger or

manually. (n calibration !or" (nspection ot on a Test Equipment #using +i,ed sample of

quantity 2$ !ould be created !hen a Calibration !or" order is released. (nspection ot 5o

23,,,,,,,,.. !ill be generated !ith (nspection type as 23.

/esult /ecording 6 0sage decision) /esult recording is carried out on the (nspection ot generated.

During result recording the 'alue of the M(C as obser'ed during Calibration*(nspection is recorded in

    the system.

/esult recording is follo!ed by 7aluation of sample and 0sage decision on the sample.

(n Calibration !or" as detailed later in the document if the Test Equipment is found to be unfit for

use i.e. its M(C readings are not as per standard or not !ithin prescribed tolerances based on the

0sage decision the Equipment can be deacti'ated 'or( +requency of Maintenance plan increased'or( 5otification can be generated.

). *teps in Caliration + Test Equipment $anagement

    a. Master data % Equipment master should be created*must e,ist

(t is better to ha'e a separate category for Test Equipments. So ha'e created a category

8T9 for Test equipments in Sandbo, and done necessary settings for the same. :o!e'er

continuing !ith current Equipment categories !ill also allo! the process to run.
